The consumer speaker thing is so important, and I wish I'd taken that to heart sooner. My stuff has gotten much better since I've started referencing on my computer monitor's crappy speaker.
Great video, mixup looks very promising. I will try it out right away. I had some ‘client’ never to be heard from again which sucks because the mix wasn’t ready and what I disliked the most was that I didn’t get any feedback. The time and effort that I put into it is never a waste because I learn from every mix but I need good feedback to get better. Mixup looks awesome for that and I don’t have to share low quality mp3 files, I definitely want something like this, thanks for the awesome advice 👌🏼👍🏼🤟🏼🤜🏼
00:23 - "James Dupre - Another Love Song"... Have you been having a good old mix of it, too? :) Good luck in the contest if so! EDIT: On the video subject, I just updated my system with a Sennheiser BT T100 Bluetooth transmitter, run off a 2nd headphone output from my SSL2+ (which is used as ASIO loopback). Best thing I ever did for instant referencing on my JBL Flip 6. Before I was exporting in order to reference. Sloooow progress the old way.
Hii, my question is a little of topic but i hope you can answer it. I'm going to buy the apollo solo interface and was wondering if i can use the included uad plugins in my effect chain in my daw (fl studio). Because in all videos i have watched i only saw the plugins in the pre recording section of the uad console. Greetings from germany 🤙🏼
Yes you can. The single DSP core on the Solo will mean you can only run a small number of DSP plugins in your mix session. You are eligible for the Native versions of the plugins though (where available, not all are!). These will run off your CPU power.
Hi Ed 👋 I followed your prices in choosing your PSIs, and I’m about to start a similar proccess for my first pair of monitors. I don’t have the ability to get a couple different sets in my room to compare, so how would you suggest I go about choosing? Thanks!
Where are you based? If you’re in the UK, several retailers will bring speakers to your studio to test. I’ve not heard of this being a thing in the US so it’s kinda of guess unless you can go to studios with specific speakers in and listen but you won’t get an idea of how they perform in your studio. You’ll be able to get an idea of the speaker characteristics though which is important.
It would be awesome to have a dealer do that, but I am indeed in the US 😔 I’m outside of NYC. There’s a place here called B&H that has a bunch of speakers in a big “treated” show room, but I don’t think they bring test sets to you…
In this video, the mic has picked up mouth clicks and noises from where I had my tonsils removed. This problem randomly arises every now and then. It’s not a frequency issue. The audio is carefully mixed on PSI speakers.

Yeh, it really is.
Soundtoggle looks like it would be great as a standalone app even just to quick toggle your own mixes & masters!
Very true. There’s Metric A/B for that though, which also level matches for you.
You’re a legend for putting us on to Sound Toggle. Exactly what I’ve been looking for
It’s great isn’t it!

Yeh, the full, lossless WAV hosting is great. There's loads more features too!

@@EdThorne Absolutely perfect! Really wish I had PSI monitors now. Transates so well to everything here.

Saw your Topping dx7pro. How is it for monitoring or critical listening compared to the UAD Apollo Twin X
Far superior. HP amp and conversion audibly better.

No way! I'm competing against YOU on the Another Love Song Mixing contest?! 😮 Im lost 😅
Nah, you got this. I submitted a bad entry - and then I deleted it and re-worked the mix into the version that is on my page now.
We need vedio for sonarwoks vs trennov
It’s on the way…
great video, but i must say, i dont like your mic lol.
What about it don’t you like?
@@EdThorne if you listen closely it picks up unwanted speech frequencys. I can hear you diction hitting the capsule in my headphones
@@EdThorne maybe it's the processed audio

@@EdThorne oooo ok that explains a ton. That's literally what I'm hearing. Thank you for that clarification. New sub 💯
