I recently got a Ktaxon which is apparently a de-branded Glarry GIB PJ bass. It was on sale at Amazon for $49; $73 delivered. About 3/4 turn on the truss, a little string height adjustment, and the action is lower than the Thunderbird I had in the 90s. It only needed a touch of intonation tweaking. The only issue I've had is a good bit of noise but only if both tone knobs are up full. And to any who worry about neck dive, it's there but minimal. I used to have a Gibson EB-O and that thing dove like Louganis.
I've got one of these basses but mine is highly modified and the only original piece left is the body. My Glarrys usually get modified in some manner, sometimes extensively. I have name brand guitars and basses but I play the Glarrys the most.
I am not above playing cheap guitars. Guitars mostly Epis at gigs. 1 Gibson Les Paul and SG for studios. For bass I like Stingrays. So EBMMs for studio and quite a few SBMMs with roundwounds, flatwounds and different tunings for gigs. Stingrays are the best second gen Fenders for pick players. I have been looking at Glarry for some real beaters. The price os right but I wanna' play one or test drive one even at 150 dollars or less. Even 100 dolkars is quite a bit of beer and vodka. Or othe party favots if you know what I mean and ain't talkin' dispensery state sanctioned crap. My favorite bass is a SBMM 34 Stingray with Ceramic pickups in HH. Its hot on full magnets from a distortion pedal coming from a tube head. Not to mention the basswood body. It will ring for a long time. Too scared to take a chance on Glarry though. I dont think I have ever bought a guitar packed in a box bass included. Cut off limit on the lower end is 350 dollars. I would not buy a 5000 dollar guitar that had to be shipped to me. I want to "feel" it. It sounds stupid but I am picky about guitars. I dont play shit on them except notes on the fretboards. Biying a guitar for me is more critical than buying a car. My Ol' Lady gets bored and pissed sometimes. But she likes the money though. She buys clothes and I buy guitars and mainly basses now. Anyone ever heard the term "Jap Guitar"? It used to be a general term for oveseas guitars until the major guitar manufacturers started buying companies up. Epiphone was where the famous Les Paul was designed by Les Paul and Gibson bought the rights of the design. I have an Epi Les Paul that will blow a Gibson LP away and both stock. It jas Grover tuners and overwound pickups. Have an Epi SG that has Grovers and the slim C profile neck and can bend it like a tremolo. Sort of. Bend back or forward to make it sound different. So yeah I get the whole music thing but not all instruments are created equally. A lot of cheaper guitars give you a more raw dirty sound instead of a refined dirt sound. With all that said you jave to play it and purchase it and not just order it online. Guitars are like women. You have to play around for the right one. Buying a guitar online is like a mail order bride. And you may get really screwed.
Not a bad idea to do that..I got the Glarry blue stained jazz bass and changed out the tuners and bridge . Sounds fantastic and looks cool. It beats scratching up your expensive Axes at dive bars that almost cost a Mortgage payment!
Yeah all black looks nice because of the fret markers. Gold wouldn’t have looked as nice. You made the right call. Flat wound strings is where it’s at imho. Great choice. Great minds and all. 😜
I mean they sound great, they are said to play well and they look good. Also they are so inexpensive that if something happened and a drink at a gig poured beer on it or even kicked it over and broke it, you can get a new one for the same price (actually cheaper) than the harmonica I bought today. 😂
Glarry basses are awesome. I've done videos on them. I'm left handed and have a few of them. Glarry has decided to stop making left handed basses and has also dropped making left handed guitars. I've contacted Glarry and they have replied and don't plan to continue making left handed basses and guitar guitars.
@@klaymeister Maybe the value of my basses will go up.. As well as for the others who bought left handed basses and guitars.. )^_-)/ Keep rOcKin' your videos! Greetings from New Jersey.. )^_-)/

Ktaxon is a strange company. I ordered a pbass from them and they sent me a Glarry.

Well good you got it while you could. That sucks though

Harley Benton still make them. But if you're looking cheap LH in the US, try Rogue.
I stay as far away from Glarry as I can.
To each his own.
Ur insane!!!!!!!!!
Been thinking about one of those Glarry basses. In the past, the neck dive has turned me off, these look a bit thinner neck, any neck dive?
Yes a little. If I wear a strap that is a little grippy, I avoid the dive. So I would consider that manageable
Thanks for the input. God bless!
