You're a star! All other videos I've seen had doors with screws on the outside no good to me, my door is like yours, had no idea how to get into it! .. thanks so much for this video, much appreciated 👍
Thank you very much from one Irish man (living in Vienna)to another. This was the help I needed. This is a case of built-in obsolescence by Bosch and the door casing is constructed to make it as hard as possible for amateurs to dismantle. But gratefully you showed us how to do it. Thanks a lot!
This video actually helped me a lot in getting mine fixed! It was the large black plastic surround I needed to replace as the hinge locating pin had snapped through it, making it drop and not sit right when open. I only needed 2 flathead screwdrivers to get this off though, one to act as a placeholder in opening the gap up and one to actually loosen the clips. Easy enough. Whole process took about 40 mins. Cheers!
Thanks! Finally found a video that showed me how to remove the casing. After this it was quite easy. I only used one screwdriver to loosen the case. Tip: at the position of the click-system just pull the case to the outside with the screwdriver. Thanks again for your helpfull video!👍
Wow…..thank goodness for this video. 60 F just changed my machines hinge 👏👏👏. Total cost $25NZ rather than paying a call out fee and parts and labour. Result 👍👍👍
Great fix. Been trying to figure this door out for ages. It does actually seal even with a completely broken hinge by the way. I have been just shoving mine on for the last couple of months.
A quick advise for everyone who will need to remove the frame. Don’t lay the door on the floor like in the video because the snaps will snap back because of the weight of the door. Instead hold the door upright with one hand and pull back the white frame a bit and then losen all snaps with a screwdriver with the other hand, will take you one minute only and you will not scratch the door because you don’t need any force
Thank you, there was no one who took the video of the dismantling of the door, now there is. Now that I know how to remove the heat shield doors, I can remove them using a similar method.
@@bootsowen yes definitely, should we unscrew the door hinge to remove it? It shouldn't be obvious that it was disassembled because I don't want it to be out of warranty.
Brilliant! I don't think Id have been brave enough to unclip the white surround for fear of breaking it. Just fitted a replacement hinge in around 15 minutes. a little fiddly but great advice with multiple screwdrivers hold the clips.
How to take the door apart was what I needed to know. I'm planning to fix a friends dryer door, and it's a very similar Bosch model. The catch on the door has snapped, and the part I need to replace is that whole inside part of the door. I've ordered the replacement, but I needed to know how I would get the thing apart to fix it. Thank you so much for posting this. 👍︎
@@bootsowenhow do you remove the front panel on this washing machine, I have a newer version and it’s almost exactly the same as the one in the video and I need to replace the door seal as it’s full of black mould.
Brilliant video! The whole snap thing does my head in. It always feels to me like the plastics will be weakened when you've had to prise them apart, and it annoys me no end that companies now seem to go out of their way to prevent competent DIYers from servicing their own appliances. Thanks so much for posting this!
Thanks so much for this! I've been looking everywhere to find out how to disassemble the parts of my Bosch Tumble Dryer door, which also has a broken hinge and no screws, like your washer. I was told I needed to order a new glass door which included the hinge. Sadly I've already placed the order, but at least this will mean I can take off the plastic front glass and ring from my old door without having to buy those too.
Thanx a million mate. The video really helped me and save me some cash. I'd cut some cardboard strips and placed it over the clips to get the outer ring off. Awesome video.
Thanks a lot for the vid! Saved me brute forcing or breaking the cover when removing it. Now just waiting for the new hinge to arrive. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the video. I lost my hope and temper when trying to get that cover off but your video helped. I drilled 5mm hole in it and made 6mm screw thread in it. Then 6mm screw on and cutted the head off.
I did the same as you suggested since pins are not as easy to find as screws (no intentions here:). I also got a no rust screw. About the opening part I found it more helpfull to use plastic credit card like to stick inside (also used some popsicle stick and plastic box cover) so I had quite a few and it is thinner than a screw driver and easier to stick many of those.
Great video repaired the door hinge following your video used some 6mm brass rod i had ,threaded it with a 6mm dye drilled the hinge block with a 5.5 mm drill and tapped the hole with a m6 tap screwed in and put a dab of threadlock on . Jobs a good un
The hinge broke in my machine as well (and, as I see, this happens quite often. Is zinc really suitable for this application?) The first thing I did was to try to fix it myself but ... no screws!, Thanks to your tutorial I saw the way how to do it (let me recommend chisels instead of screwdrivers, they are "stronger"). Luckily, the local branch office had the spare part and I picked it up myself. Finally, we were able to put our next laundry same day! Thanks🙂
Thanks lad. I had a fair idea what needed to be done, but I was shitting myself that I'd break the outer plastic ring. Done mine the exact same way as yours, even though its a different make. Thanks again
I have bought a spare part from internet but it turned out that it's too small, I couldn't close the door, so we just removed the broken knot from the plastic not, and we drill a little bit of hole, I inserted the broken knot half way in the plastic knot and we attached it in the hole that we drill, so now it holds. I just hope I could return the one that I ordered
Thank you very much, thanks to the repair of 20€ I saved 600€. I only got it done thanks to your tutorial. Send me your Patreon link and I'll send you a tip.
Thank you for repairing that bosch bootsowen :-D i bought an almost identical bosch serie 4 in 2018 and the only problem so far is the door switch/sensor plays up and i have to open and close the door a few times before it will start the wash. Not a bad machine otherwise :-D But the door may need a drilling later on ha ha :-D I had to turn off the beeping as it just annoying. I hope you havn't caught the new strain of covid, wear a mask if you go to supermarkets with lots of people around.
Today I went to Praxis shop and buy a part of 6mm steel a € 2,50 and fix the broken part as you suggested in less an hour. The door is now woking as usual. No service costs a € 69,- and buy me a beer...😂
I am on my 3rd hinge broke in the exact place after one year sompart out of warranty - very frustrating as seems to be design/manufacturing fault in the parts - £13.95 is cheaper than buying a new washing machine but really Bosch should be covering the cost
Oh and thanks for the video - very helpful - you feel like you are going to break the door prying it off - would be interested to hear how your repaired hinge is fairing !
Do you need to buy a new one or can you just mend the broken ones. I had a dryer once and I mended the door with a heavy duty house door hinge. Clumsy but didn’t break again.
Great vid. No stupid music, just clear concise instructions. It’s helped me
thanks
