The US94 swedish team was very formidable, with players like Larsson, Anderson, martin dahlin and Tomas brolin, I first heard of Sweden for the first time in my life during USS94 and I was just 11 years old then. Much love from Nigeria.

@@fobef Brazilian press (and big part of the population) undervalues the 1994 World Cup - considers it to be the second worst ever (after 1990 edition) - and this World champion Brazilian team. Actually, they hate and undervalues all the period between 1990 and 1998, that they call "the Dunga Era" (because Dunga wasn't offensively skilled as his predecessors and represented the cold winning objectivity that they consider that took the place of plasticity and playfulness in football at this time).

Brolin was unstoppable and at his peak during World Cup 94. It's weird how he only few months after the World Cup broke his foot and was never the same player again, and he was only 24 at the time. If there is a equivalent in the Swedish National Team today, then I would say Emil Forsberg, which is funny since they both played for the same team (GIF Sundsvall) in the early beginnings of their careers.

I was reading something lately which said after his playing days ended, Brolin invested in a vacuum cleaner business back home in Sweden and made an absolute fortune. He literally cleaned up. Watching him at Leeds Utd wasn't pretty by any means. Struggling with injuries and his weight. Such a shame. Only 28 when he retired too. Anyway, good luck to the guy. Achieved more in football than most of us losers could ever dream of.

This Swedish team scored (15 goals in 7 games) at the 1994 World Cup, thats up there with the most goals scored in the modern era. Spain in 2010 only scored 8 goals in 7 games when they won the World Cup, very boring champions to be honest. Had the luxury of being able to keep the ball but just weren't exciting. Even the champions Brazil in 94 scored 11 goals, Italy 8 in 7, Holland 8 in 5 etc, so Sweden 94 team along with the Brazil 82 team (15 goals in 5 games) were the most entertaining teams not to win the World Cup.

Sometimes it’s not the most well known players from the most well known nations that are the best. And during USA ‘94, Brolin (from Sweden) was the best player. His playmaking skills, work rate, leadership, eye for goal, adaptability and ability to perform at his best when the whole nation was counting on him, all those things made him the standout footballer in 1994.

He was a forwad, support striker but he could also play as a playmaker r or on the wing. For this Wc he was tried as a right side midfielder because the swedish coach didnt want to bench Kennet Andersson.

As I recall Baggio was most definitely the player of the tournament. Romario not far behind and also Hagi and Stoichkov. Brolin then, maybe.
