I'm starting to wonder if the Rust business model is based on cheaters re-buying the game. Rust sometimes get's into the top 10 of weekly games sales (steamdb) and is always in the top 100 (right now it's 54 and was 43 last week), yet the player population doesn't really go up by this amount of purchases. So the people purchasing the game aren't joining servers and increasing the player population, but they are still playing the game, and the overall population doesn't change because their last account was banned, it's not a new player, it's the same player just a new purchase of the game on a new account. So a large part of the revenue Rust and facepunch get is from cheaters re-buying the game, a single cheater might re-purchased the game dozens of times - so cheaters are the premium VIP customer as they spend many many times more than what a non-cheater spends on the game only buying skins.

With this video, two clans knowingly got banned so that's minimum 16x new game purchases... facepunch have a big development team and we get new features every month. Maybe facepunch should divert some development to admin features, you know, make it easier for server owners to find and ban players and we all get a better game.
Last base you raided, when you destroy the tc the base takes 24 hours upkeep out of the tc and drops you the left over in a bag. Thats why there are no metal frags. Thanks for the vid ❤

you know, if this is true, i think im okay with it. it also incentivizes facepunch to develop improved cheat detection haha
