I tried reading GRR's books that aren't Game of Thrones. Didn't like them. I guess I'm done with GRR since we're never seeing book 6, I just decided to try and forget all about it. It's bigfoot riding a unicorn stuff and not a real thing, it is a myth at this point.
@@robertmaybeth3434 He has some good short stories. But they are all extremely dark and sci-fi isn't for everyone so I get why you wouldn't be into them.
@@robertmaybeth3434 I think George has become both worse at writing over the years, and the writing competition has become better. The first three Game of Thrones books were amazing, and there wasn't anything quite like them. However books 4 - 5 were okay but not great. So it doesn't surprise me that other short stories of his also aren't spectacular.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood was Charles Dickens’ final novel, discovered unfinished on his desk when he died in 1870 with no notes or clues as to how it was supposed to be completed.
The musical adaptation is super fun as they set up all the suspects throughout the show and let the audience vote on the ending, so the “murderer” is different every night.
I think the problem is nothing in the asoiaf universe is completed. Blood and Fire has only one part. Dunk and Egg were never finished. The main series has been in a limbo for so long some people who were passionate fans actually passed away never knowing it's end. The whole thing just sends a message that here is a brilliant writer with only half written works. No questions about this series will ever be answered. And that's not the kind of legacy an author would want if they want to be remembered throughout the ages Fifty, sixty years down the line if I ask people about GRRM they'll just 'oh yeah that guy who never finished anything and had that one show that fell flat in the final season' He really is ruining his own potential
I was 100% positive that they would announce the release date for winds right after season 8. I was disappointed x2 because season 8 sucked and the book didn't come out ☹️
Winds of Winter is NEVER Coming out. GRRM is on strike with the rest of the writers in fact he was ahead of the curve because he has been on strike for years.
I think the same day you guys recorded this, George tweeted something out about an Asoiaf calendar but deleted the post within like minutes. Even though it’s probably nothing, I really want to know what happened.
Explain to Preston that the “Slayer of Lies” is Oedipus and why then we get a offhand remarks about Daenerys’ former servants and why Selmy is with Daenerys now. Also where “Sun setting in the East…” comes from and why Aerys, Daenerys, and Aegon(young Griff).
With all due respect and “love” (as much as one can ‘love’/admire someone you’ve never met) I would rather George just come out and say: “look guys, I’m just not into the main saga anymore. I just want to work on the expanded universe It’s not what you want, I know; but please understand that it is _my_ book series”. I wouldn’t exactly be happy about it, but i can perfectly understand and accept it.
As someone that has been going through this since 1999, watching new fans of ASOIAF suffer like this does put a smile on my face! I actually CACKLED at the one post saying that GRRM would BECOME "Woke" and it would influence "WOW"...tell me you've never read ANYTHING by GRRM without telling me you've never read anything by GRRM! 🥴
It's so funny because we have two canon bisexual POV characters (Dany and Cersei), a canon gay man (JonCon), a potential bi Jon Snow (if you believe the theories about him being quietly into Satin), and there were rumors throughout the books about Renly and Loras that became canon in the show. Just because the show didn't have a lot of ethnic minorities doesn't mean the books didn't have a lot of diversity. But those people who just label things "woke" only see this story as "medieval England" and OBVIOUSLY there were no gays in medieval England so including it would be heretical. Like OBVIOUSLY.
@@silverstorm3729 NOT GRRM’s books that’s for sure…the dude is what a Male Feminist is supposed to be (supportive of Women’s suffrage, not a simp to it) and never mind who he is married to!
@@asimhussain8716 So the only "evidence" is they hang out together a lot. Because Loras is his squire. You know who squires are, right? The guy who is supposed to help a knight undress his armor, brings the knight food, and sometimes provides the knight with company. Granted, this is "usually" a job for a kid training to be a knight, but keep in mind that Loras is barely an adult by modern standards, a thirdborn son with absolutely nothing substantial to inherit, and Renly is the Lord of Storm's End. Being the squire to a Lord Paramount in Westeros is second only to the King himself. The only people who ever refer to him as gay in the books are his political enemies or people who were told explicitly by them at they were gay. Preston mentioned this in his "Overanalyzing" series in regards to Laenor, too, and cited Renly as an example. There actually is no evidence that Laenor is gay either. He was just into fashion and dressing in rich clothes. You know who else is into dressing like a million bucks? Pimps and rappers. Call them gay and you end up getting shot lol. And even if someone does believe he and Loras are gay, I love to propose this question as a counterargument: if all it takes for two dudes to be gay in this universe are hanging out a lot while on and off the clock as a squire, eating meals together, dressing together, and fighting together, then why are there no rumors about Ned playing with Robert's warhammer spreading around the continent like wildfire?
@@asimhussain8716 Also in regards to the show, they did Renly so fucking dirty with that writing which is astounding because I've been getting into The Wire over the past few months and Omar is my favorite character by a country mile because of how unabashedly gay he is AND he's a straight up gunslinger people fear like the boogeyman. HBO made one of the coolest gay characters ever and then followed it up with... this... Renly was said to be such a spitting image of Robert in his prime that Ned almost had an anxiety attack over seeing him again in the flesh. The man who wanted to murder children because they bore the name Targaryen and absolutely could because he was a brute of a man with arms like Bill Goldberg. Renly was just Robert, but better. Renly loved hunting and jousting and was extremely charismatic and people loved him for being his brother when he was fit and moderately sober. Show Renly was a little prissy baby bitch boy who couldn't even stand the sight of a little cut and had to be goaded into rebelling against Cersei. Book Renly did so without a second thought because he was a hedgefund baby who felt it was owed to him over his unlikable older brother. People liked him, therefore he should be King.
Could you imagine if Tolkien stopped writing at Two Towers, released a collection of Tom Bombadil's Poetry, and then died before finishing Return of the King? I imagine his legacy would be in shambles compared to where it is currently. That is what George has been doing with his own legacy.
It took Tolkien 17years to write LOTR and it's 1200 pages. If GRRM wrote at that pace what's out so far would've taken him 60 years to write. And you must not be familiar with Tolkien... He wrote TONS of irrelevant stuff in the same universe before LOTR was finished including a whole adventures of Tom Bombadil book. The ignorance and entitled attitude of GRRMs so-called fans is mind boggling.
@@DD-qo1twstill he finished the series and wrote several books about the universe afterwards. Also there was passion throughout it until he died, meanwhile george just gave up.
You're confusing publication dates with when he wrote things... He was writing lots and lots of things set in middle earth during the 17 year period he was working on the LOTR trilogy. Tolkien was a bad example to pick for this specific demand. The man "wasted" (supposedly in your view I guess) tons of time creating language, mythology, long poems etc that didn't progress the main trilogy.
No he wasn't finished with middle earth yet, but he finished lotr. Also the languages and cultures tolkien created were one of the reasons why middle earth felt so immersive. It makes more sense than an entire continent speaking one language.
The reference to Edwin Drood is that of a serialised mystery story written by Charles Dickens. He wrote 6 out of a planned 12 when he died. The titular Edwin Drood goes missing early on and the rest of the story takes place as a mystery/thriller. The mystery was never resolved and Dickens left no notes. It bears interesting parallels to ASOIAF though as ever since the death of Dickens fans have been theorising and writing fanfiction endings to the story.
Yeah. There's more than one mystery. The first is about the titular Drood, whether he was murdered or has hidden himself for some reason. A second mystery concerns the identity of the mysterious Datchery, who appears to be a detective investigating the disappearance. It is hinted that he's actually one of the other characters in disguise but there's no agreement among the fans which one. A minor mystery is the mysterious business that the dubious choirmaster John Jasper, who lives in the cathedral town of Cloisterham (Rochester), has in London. As you can probably tell I'm a big fan.
The stark difference between the obvious intern posting about the latest Wildcards story or the latest Ice and Fire quotes book vs. the heartfelt anecdotes about colleagues who passes away or the Writer's Strike or his experience during COVID are like night and day. You know exactly what is a George thing and what is an intern and it's not even that hard to decipher. If George and the interns wanted to, they could just copy/paste the NotABlog stuff onto Twitter because of Twitter Blue and call it a day. No difference at all between the two, it all looks like George's work, badda bing badda boom. Instead, you can tell when its just another call for fans to give out money for pointless merch or stories nobody cares about and then a sea of bullying over it. Granted the book should have been out by now and all the comments are just pointless punching down at someone who doesn't care, but how can anyone expect there not to be so much negativity when the account is just trying to work the marks and make a quick buck? And making the George RR Martin Patreon? Give me a fucking break. The dude owns two homes, a theater, a book store, runs a wildlife preserve, and has personal servants who brought him food when he was locked inside during quarantine. WHY DO WE NEED TO GIVE HIM MONEY FOR EXCLUSIVE CONTENT HE COULD AFFORD TO PAY US ALL TO READ WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING UNABLE TO PAY HIS DINNER BILL?
A fool and his money are quickly parted - take these idiots for all they're worth! Btw, random comments can't punch down on George, that's not how that works.
Thinking about resurrecting my Twitter account just to write comments to GRRM's twitter like "Where is the new Wild Cards book? We need more Wild Cards!".

It’s about expectations...it’s not that surprising that somebody as knowledge, old and smart as Preston would be familiar with other languages but pop culture phenomena like DBZ maybe not
I have this headcanon where Carmine decides to step out of prestons shadow and massively expands his Ice & Fire knowledge, causing viewers to see a stronger Carmine week after week. A Carmine who not only notices many of Preston's little mistakes, but also corrects them. Preston becomes increasingly nervous, fearing a carminian uprising. Tensions rise to the point where both clash in the middle of the stream. Furiously, Carmine leaves the call. The following week, Preston receives a notification during the stream that Carmine, who had been in radio silence for a week, has just uploaded a video. Preston cannot resist the urge and clicks on the video. This is a first, as Preston has never before reacted live to a video and he quickly realises that this is no joke. A two-hour in-depth analysis of why the Dornish Masterplan is far too contradictory to ever be taken seriously and must be dismissed as one of prestons ego projects. A devastated Preston now realises that just as the greek gods rose up against Kronos, Carmine has now risen up against him. A long war is awaiting them.
"I see you support the strike, have you been on strike for the past few years?" George is going to put out winds just so that he can kill a character named after whoever wrote that
He’s expressed before how he gets annoyed by people constantly asking and bringing winds up and I really have no sympathy for him, like I get that it’s annoying but he brought this entirely on himself and he has no one else to blame for it
The people who say GRRM should have Brandon Sanderson finish ASoIaF have likely never read ASoIaF and only watched the show. Maybe even never read Brandon Sanderson either.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood was Charles Dickens' last novel, or rather last half a novel, as he died in the middle of writing it and left no notes as to how it was finished. And because things were published in monthly installments at the time, people were left hanging in the middle of the story they had already started reading, rather than it being something like the Simalrillion. A bit ironic that it was a mystery novel with the mystery unsolved too, leaving many a fans to guess over the years as to what the intended ending would have been.
I don't know why there is that much guessing around it, given CD sold several people that SPOILER John Jasper was the murderer and Edwin is dead. He could have changed his mind of course but the interest of the story was to be telling it from the murderer's point of view at the end, not the "mystery".
@@Jotari Dickens' friend John Forster claimed to have been told the whole thing, including who ended up married to whom (it's online and in most Dickens bios). It's a little doubtful because he and Dickens were not as close as they had been -- D. was finding him on the boring side in latter years. And Dickens did leave a fair bit of room to change his mind as to what would happen to the other characters. But as I say, it wasn't meant to be a whodunnit so much as a whydunnit.
@@badgasaurus4211At least HL:A gave HL3 some hope. Plus Valve actually works insanely hard and is constantly innovating. In comparison GRRM seems like he has barely worked at all in the last 20 years, especially the last decade.
I'm not worried about "wokeness" in his books, but I am concerned he would be influenced by feedback from the fans, and not finish the story as he intended. I love this story, and I want to see it finished. It's a shame the author was replaced by an unproductive clone.
social media is good if you're a new writer and need to get your name out there, but once you get big it's nothing but a distraction. Such a wide range of opinions and the angry voices are the loudest (a quiet customer is a happy customer)

At this point I couldn't care less about Martin finishing WoW, he's too busy fooling fans, writing Targaryen past history instead of giving us Stannis's battle, rhoynish masterplan, or the Vale schemes, ugh. The guy was so smart that he's decided to "yes I'm still writing WoW" us endlessly (when we clearly see he's dropped it a long time ago) instead of just saying right to our face he will never finish it.

18:00 "Probaste laburando? Cementerio de barbacoas" it's Argentinian slang: "have you tried working? BBQs cemetery" the implication of the comment is that George shows this tweet as an acomplishment and he doesn't kniw how to put work in a more important project. The origin of the meme is a teenager telling his father "look, I completed this game in a time record" and the father belittling him says "y la de laburar no la conoces?" Or "and what about working? Don't you know about working?". The BBQ part is about his belly. We Argentinians tease using the body as a theme, without meaning really to hurt the feelings of our interlocutor. It's done because.
How is that a playful roasting and not simple fatshaming ? I live in the same country and that kind of comment can be insulting , depends on the intention of the person who says it, i doubt that guy is being friendly
If we really want answers to ASOIAF two things will probably work. 1. Put out a book that is only similar enough, legally speaking, of the theory you want to know; wait for lawsuit. No suit, theory is wrong probably. 2. Find a unknown chess master to to lure GRRM into a betting trick a la Tyrion vs. Haldon (Howland Reed). Make him divulge secrets as stakes.
I believe a 'Stern Talking to from his Kindergarten Subsitute' or perhaps the good ol' 'Trapping a 74-year-old man in a cardboard box using a stick, a string, and a conspicuous bush' might also work.
GRRM lives in my town of Santa Fe, New Mexico. If we could designate him our forever-Mayor, we would. He's poured millions into our local economy with projects that save a local historical movie theater and establish grants for young writers. It's possible he may never finish his beloved franchise. I'm OK with this. Eventually, the IP will fall into new hands and one way or another, a conclusion will get written. And probably also re-written. I'm of the opinion that his legacy will be fine. So will the franchise. At some point something will supersede the abortion that was the HBO finale.
Carmine's idea sounds cool, but I think it WOULD require a lot of GRRM's time - at least in editing, making sure the writing and the content are fitting. The writers who come on to the project are going to need to do a lot of homework, and receive guidance on the intricacies and details of the world from Elio & Linda. Also, GRRM has no business having a Patreon, it's ridiculous. He needs to get his assistants to put his social media in order!
Man, Tolkien fought in a war raised 5 kids, was a professor in Oxford and wrote the legendarium in his off-time. How George, a professional writer has the nerve to talk bad about him, while he doesn’t even finish his book series, is beyond me. That is his job!
the example i always use is "imagine if Tolkien didn't bother to write Return of The King because he was busy helping make the BBC radio Drama about tom bombadil"
Your being dramatic he's never dissed Tolkein. Tolkein was one of his main inspirations. His work is the opposite of Tolkein in its tone so he makes comparisons when prompted to in corporate interviews

I don’t even need A dream of spring, just please somehow can he finish Winds. I feel like by the end of winds a lot of plots should be much clearer, but we got TWO BOOKS of set up. I need some pay off
excited to hear someone talk about The Expanse and how f-ing awesome it is. I think the Sci-Fi version was way better and Amazon picked it up, gave it more money for effects but the quality of the writing and character development went to sh*t. Books are so good.
I read all the books and its a good read. The world-building is great. But god. I really dislike the characters. It feels to me, authors just cant write POV well enough. TV show made the charaters much more interesting (and thats a fucking rarity). Even though i still disliked characters of Holden and Naomi.
I just realized TWoW has to feature all the PoV characters, while AFFC and ADwD didn’t. We’d have to go through almost half the book to get one PoV chapter of each character lol.
Q&A - Serious question and I don't want hater comments. Preston - Do you think he's lost the plot? Wrote himself into a corner? Too much confusion with all the moving characters/houses etc. Do you think there really is something technical going on that is causing him not able to finish? Because I feel like maybe there is so much going on in the books at once that it's become too hard to keep track of mentally, let alone try and see a path for every individual character/plot/subplot, politicking etc, while remembering every detail you've written before so long ago.
Sir/Madam/Bot this is PJ channel. His viewers are all a wild bunch of cynic fans, who 'love' George but acknowledge his limits and issues. You won't find 'hAtErS' here. This isn't... Mr. Toxic positivity channels. George hasn't lost the plot. But he did kinda write into a corner because the characters are far too spread out from the main plot to have any impact in the short to mid-term. He would need more time, I.E more books, to circle back into something workable, which is just not an option anymore.
He deliberately writes in a way so he is never in a corner - he offers so many red herrings etc that he always has options. So it isn’t that. I think it’s a combination of a few things - one, the story has become so large with so many moving parts, that he is struggling badly to bring it together again for the final act, and two, because of this, he simply doesn’t enjoy it anymore. And three, he has more money than he could ever dream of, and knowing he isn’t healthy and is getting old, he wants to concentrate on what gives him the most joy in what remains of his life.
I think he's thrown way too many balls in the air, and he's unable to juggle them all, while also refusing to just aggressively write out balls (heavy-handedly kill off or ignore characters even in potentially-unsatisfying ways, as the show did). He's been trying for 12 years to juggle all the balls simultaneously and failing.
There were some comments written in portuguese, not spanish. For example: "Se não for lançar então apenas fale de uma vez" means "if you're not going to release it, then just say it already". Rough translation but gets to the heart of the message

I remember my first read through of the books and it stumped me back then how GRRM could finish the story in two books but I was optimistic. Now it seems like my instinct was right.
I feel like George just sh*tted on everyone and he doesn't care anymore. He got his fortune and fame and some few last years of life, so he doesn't need Ice and Fire fans. Even though they are the reason he has this success. It's a shame he turned out to be a person like this, but oh well. He lost my respect for him.I don't care about Winds anymore. I don't even remember what was happening in the last books.
He lives in my home town of Santa Fe, New Mexico. You can't swing a cat without hitting something he's poured his money into. He's guilty of not finishing his franchise, but not of being a person who is selfish. He's literally trying to spend as much of his money as he can on external legacy stuff before he dies.
@@joelsommers My problem with Martin has never been that he hasn't produce Winds or that he's enjoying his success. It's that I believe hes being deceitful about continuing to work on Winds. Thats it. If he were honest that he's given up on it it'd be unfortunate but I'd wish the man well. He owed most of us nothing but honesty although the dishonesty does create a deficit. I was aware of ASOIAF due to being a fan of the original CTRL+ALT+DEL web comic but I wasn't a fan until the show. But his increasingly petulant behavior resembles a conman who is getting ever closer to being exposed. Motive you may ask? The demand for him on talk shows, conventions, and in corporate Hollywood is almost entirely based on ASOIAF. He is loving the attention and fame which came to him relatively late in life. If he admitted he quit the project his reputation would change to that of a failed author rather than one of the greats. Perhaps that's unfair but failed authors don't get their calls returned by executives, don't get pet projects produced, and their fan base dries up. But I recently came across an argument that kind of stuck in my head. Those original devoted fans who believed in his work and promoted him for years arguably made this success he's enjoying possible. If anyone is owed more its them. As the proverb goes, "Dance with the one that brought you." If I'm wrong I'll gladly admit it as my pride isn't a stumbling block to my integrity. My position also has the benefit of being falsifiable. . . but only if Martin sends the book to print. Since Martin apparently intends to have his unfinished work and notes destroyed if he passes before finishing this creates a problem for the faithful. That would mean no one will ever produce a 1300 page manuscript and be able to say, "SEE!?!? He was almost done." I for one hope he finishes Winds and Dream for his fans. But his behavior, which I've only partly expounded on here, leads me to believe that isn't in the cards.

Here's my wish fulfillment theory on what the holdup is: george prob had a plan for arriving at a good version of the show's ending via a much better way... However, the show ending was so unexpectedly terrible and unpopular that he's now wondering if his version will still work when it also has to cleanse everyone's pallets from that disaster. So now he's stuck with the question of whether to stick to an improved version of his original plan or to go somewhere else entirely and how that would work out

At one time I felt kinda bad for him. That was 7 years ago. I believe he owes the fans that made all of his success happen. At this point he's just being a jerk.
Thats not how art works. and its not like he does nothing. he works on atleast l two shows for people that never did anything in their life other than spew hatred.
Get one thing straight in life first, nobody owes you anything. Him not finishing the book doesn't make him a jerk, but him teasing us with the release date is not good I'll give you that. Put yourself in his shoes, the man is 74 years old. The show came out when he was 62 years old in 2011 and suddenly he became a household name and had great success after years of sitting in a chair and being a writer. He also finally got married in 2011. Coincidentally the last book was finished in 2011. If you look at the books, at this point in the series he was constantly growing the story, but now with the last two books he has the difficult task of tying everything together and wrapping up the story. The man wrote himself into a corner. Now ask yourself this, if you were that old and finally reached a level of success you never dreamed of towards the end of your life after having been working for years, would you want to continue sitting in a room trying to piece together the story? He seems to enjoy doing screenplay more and doesn't want to deal with the daunting task of finishing the book. Plus he has been writing this story for decades, imagine writing about ANYTHING for that long, surely you would get burned out. He also doesn't want to admit that he has slowly given up on it to disappoint the fans/make the hype vanish forever. That's his main fault, for baiting the readers but I get it. Personally I hope George is living it up with his wife, he is 74 years old that's retirement age
Nnedi Okorafor, the author with Geroge at the premier, was already a pretty established author by that point, so definitely not a protégé. Last I heard George was executive producing a show based on one of her novels and that was why he invited to the premier with him. A song of ice fire story written by Okorafor would be excellent! Also, don't bother with the AI written novels--they are garbage nonsense that are clearly pulling from the show and not the books. If you do end up checking it out, do a ctrl+f search for "subversion of expectations" . AI is way off from being able to handle any form of long form writing (and hopefully never makes it)
As a writer myself, heard the vitriol on the bird app from you two…. Definitely has made me think twice about criticizing GRRM again for Winds. Thanks guys. Miss ya! Glad all seems prosperous still!
I've been believing that he's been working on both of the last books together to get the details to all work out. He's split things into two books before.
At this point, if he ever posts the winds are here it will take like five posts with different wording for me to believe that and even then I would be like yeah, it’s some hoax to promote wildcards
..I was watching TV and the blurb for some western TV show came on, and the announcer said "FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCER GRR MARTIN!" I thought aha, that's what he's been doing for the last 10 years - so forget ever seeing book 6, it's a myth that doesn't even exist except for a couple sample chapters; and never gonna happen.
Apparently "Probaste laburando cementerio de barbacoas" translates to "Did you try working, barbecue cemetery?" I laughed longer at that than I should have.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood was Charles Dickens’ final novel, discovered unfinished on his desk when he died in 1870 with no notes or clues as to how it was supposed to be completed.
I only know this fact because of Doctor Who. Thanks for having this comment, I was going to mention it but you got it first.

And that's not the kind of legacy an author would want if they want to be remembered throughout the ages

I actually CACKLED at the one post saying that GRRM would BECOME "Woke" and it would influence "WOW"...tell me you've never read ANYTHING by GRRM without telling me you've never read anything by GRRM! 🥴
Right!? What books are these people reading?
^ This nails it
It took Tolkien 17years to write LOTR and it's 1200 pages.

I do think that story has gotten away from him...
“Where’s winds of winter? Stop eating big macs!” Took me out 💀

"Se não for lançar então apenas fale de uma vez" means "if you're not going to release it, then just say it already". Rough translation but gets to the heart of the message
"Apenas" and "Vez" that's the only Spanish I got out of that lol
wtf is that thing over the 'a' anyways?
@@abeaconintheoffice it's a Tilde or Til, a sign used to give nasal sound vowels in portuguese. It is most commonly present with the letter 'a', but when the word is in plural, then it appears with the letter 'o'.
Take, for example, the word "canção", which means "song". In the plural form it becomes "canções" (more than one song)
We’ve all been asking where is the famous wind of winters book. And he’s said “It will be out, when it’s out” and we like that. Great work ethic.
Hey Preston do you think Dragonstone has a secret chamber like the Winterfell Crypts were only Targaryens are allowed to know about where they hide all their dragon eggs
Like it's always bugged me that Stannis was always so broke like where are all the dragon eggs?! We know Targaryen children give them back when they don't hatch and they're never mentioned in Kingslanding.... So where are they?!
Cannibal had a habit of eating them once in a while iirc. 7 blew up with Dunk and Egg at summer hall. 3 were stolen…I think they are more or less accounted for 🤔
He brought it all on himself, not just a "little bit".
I've been a fan since discovering the series back in 2003. I've gone full circle in my fandom, and on to breaking the circle. Excitement to admiration to adulation. Then to frustration and outright hostility. Then back to admiration, and now...I just feel bad for the guy and hope he enjoys the rest of his days. What does $100 million mean to a 75 year old with no children? Idk but it probably doesn't mean as much as most people think.
"What does $100 million mean to a 75-year-old with no children?" It means bulk orders of Cannabis seeds from Afghanistan.
I would vibe/chill my way into the great beyond.
As if children are equivalent to happiness or whatever
@@Waddehaddeduddedaa yeah no one said that, ya reject. There's only so many things you can do with millions of dollars as a 75yo. Most would be content to pass it down but he has no kids so...hookers and blow until he dies? Or how many railroads and wolf preserves can you buy? My point was most people justify their vitriole towards GRRM with "fuck em, he's rich" and my point was that having millions as an old man is definitely not the same thing as having millions as a young man.
@@abeaconintheoffice lmao true. I notice you didnt include "finishing my insanely complicated book series" as part of that plan.
I wouldn’t be mad if he just said that he probably won’t finish the series.
In VK (Russian Facebook, but way-way-way better done and actually usable), there is a public "George Martin writes the Winds of Winter." It consists of daily posts "Haven't written anything today" and some GRRM-related news every once in a while.
Ah yes. VKontakte. Like the rest of Russian society, you literally have to deep-throat an incompetent fascist with moobs to log on. FFS Putin is so insecure.
Preston Jacobs, literary analysist, does not get "if you were a spice you would be flour." I'm in the wrong business
Most people are kind of dumb.
Being smart + working hard is like a cheat code that can make you successful in just about any field.
the spice must flour
The ending to Half Life Alyx sure implied that maybe they might start working on a Half Life 3, that or someone is a huge sadist that just really wants to give people hope and take it away.
I liked when Preston pronounced Gaben, "Gah-ben"
I remember my first read through of the books and it stumped me back then how GRRM could finish the story in two books but I was optimistic. Now it seems like my instinct was right.
I feel like George just sh*tted on everyone and he doesn't care anymore. He got his fortune and fame and some few last years of life, so he doesn't need Ice and Fire fans. Even though they are the reason he has this success. It's a shame he turned out to be a person like this, but oh well. He lost my respect for him.I don't care about Winds anymore. I don't even remember what was happening in the last books.
I’m sure he’s devastated he “lost your respect.” 😂
@@melanatedqueen6662Not the point they were making, but sure, whatever
@@melanatedqueen6662Ah. Yet another buffoonish Martin fangirl. And jiat like every other one they have nothing to say that required any thought.
As the proverb goes, "Dance with the one that brought you."
If I'm wrong I'll gladly admit it as my pride isn't a stumbling block to my integrity.
One of my favorite things I’ve seen was on his not a blog where he said something to the affect of if feels like people only come here for news on winds of winter when serious stuff is going on in the world. Yeah no sh*t George why else would someone be coming to your blog? Lol
Has Preston mentioned the news from the movie/Hollywood circles that WoW is looking for a ghostwriter despite George having claimed he did not want one? George's statement was quite a while back. Perhaps he is beginning to face reality as this is a newer report.
God I wish 😭
WoW or Elder Scrolls 6 is the real race. DwD and Skyrim came out in the same year.
Probaste laburando cementerio de barbacoas? =
Did you perhaps tried WORKING? You BBQ graveyard😂
He called him lazy and fat, where all the bbqs went to die basically lmao
lmao spanish is the best language for if you want to insult someone or you're in an argument
At this point it's just offensive to his life long fans that he continues to work on everything but the last two books.
He doesn’t owe y’all anything. Your little thirty dollars or whatever it is you spent on his books didn’t make him what he is today. HIS TALENT is what got him here. You’ve gotten what u paid for. You got the books you bought. His transaction with you is complete.
@@melanatedqueen6662Yeah except he clearly does care since he always gets super upset when he's asked about his progress on WoW. You clearly didnt watch any of his longer live interviews in front of an audience.
He's getting hate and rightfully so. Hes in the entertainment business. Deny your fans their entertainment and this is what happens. You saying "he doesnt owe you anything" is correct, but he's not owed praise either.
Im 22 and read the books when dance came out ( definitely a little early lol) it blows my mind ive been waiting over half my life
Maybe he should write
My take is that its just gotten too much for George. When he started the series he was a successful Hugo winning Sci Fi writer, now you could argue he's the most famous author of the 21st century.
Its not all bad, the wait made me found content like Preston.
He can pay people to help him. Hell, he can even pay someone who can type it so he doesn't have to keep one-fingering Wordperfect '96 on a computer older than 80% of his readers. But no. He refuses.
Just call Brandon Sanderson at this point my god George
do think if GRRM had finished Winds and Dream by the time season 7 was coming out he might be a billionaire today.
If you could watch the first GOT unaired pilot or the pilot of the canceled GOT prequel Blood Moon witch one would you rather see ?
I feel bad for him, but at the same time. Hire a goddamn ghost writer George. You clearly just don’t want to write winds anymore and you have your hands more than full with literally everything else. Just own up to it and sacrifice your pride.
he's already stated that if he dies before the series is over, it dies with him...
@@obsidian00hopefully it's painful for him then
Man, how many times does the guy have to say he IS writing it
Obviously he’s struggling with it.
Are you a creative person? Do you know how difficult it would be to wrap this saga?
Settle down my guy.
@@MC-el2us yeah he may be writing it, but he doesn’t want to. If he wanted to he’d be done writers block certainly exists I’ll give him that but in no way should it last 12 years. You can get help from others or at least do SOMETHING to get past it.
@@MC-el2usI was in 10th grade when I read ADWD. I'm past uni and working now.
Do you not see how insane this is? It would be respectable to just call it quits instead of leading us on like this.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood was the final book Charles Dickens that was unfinished.
I stopped following any social media posts from GRRM about 5 years ago. I know it's not going to be an announcement for the release of Winds and about things I dont care about or things I actively hate i.e. sports.
And the comments are depressing.
So now he's stuck with the question of whether to stick to an improved version of his original plan or to go somewhere else entirely and how that would work out
Wait, that's the first time I've seen Preston on video. And I've been following Preston for least 7 years, and Carmine for nearly as long. It feels so good put a face to the voice. I don't believe I've ever seen Carmine on video. Though I could swear that he'd posted a photo at one point.
Anyway, it's always fun to listen to the both of you! Keep it up!
I started the ASOIAF series back in 2006. I used to absolutely love it. The disaster the show was and Georges stasis in writing, has completely killed my love of the series. Now I’m just apathetic. I don’t care anymore. I have no interest in anything ASOIAF based anymore.
As for GRRM's progressive or as the kids call it, woke credentials, he was tapping one of the most important feminist fantasy writers of the 70s. He got it from the source baby.
I'm anti-woke and I don't think George is woke (though admittedly the definition is vague). I genuinely don't mind gay etc characters. I love the Game of Thrones books.
If you want to see an example of actual woke, see the barbie movie, where the film presents a matriarchy which oppresses men as the best possible system.
Y’all don’t even know what woke means. Woke was a term Black ppl use to remind each other to stay vigilant.
Y’all sound dumb AF calling anything that hurts your feelings “wOKe.”
@@lightworker2956 if u watched the barbie movie, i find it hard to believe that that was your take away...
@@lightworker2956 my dude he was active in the movement against the Vietnam war and was enmeshed in the New Left what the hell are you talking about.

George is a progressive, an actual real progressive center left guy. These woke ppl are literarly just biggots with an agenda.
If he’s not gonna finish it surely to god the 2 authors he done Histories with could give us the GOD DAMN BOOK!!! 😂

Don’t feel bad, feel good
At one time I felt kinda bad for him. That was 7 years ago. I believe he owes the fans that made all of his success happen. At this point he's just being a jerk.
I'm honestly at the point that i don't want to read it anymore
Thats not how art works. and its not like he does nothing. he works on atleast l two shows for people that never did anything in their life other than spew hatred.
he doesnt owe you a book.
@@Mr.RobotG Why do you give a shit about some rich old dude living it up? He doesn't give a shit about you I can guarantee you that.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood was Charles Dickens' last book that he did not complete; I believe someone else finished or tried to finish it later.
She may not have been high or drunk. Maybe he just wasn’t real
AI is way off from being able to handle any form of long form writing (and hopefully never makes it)
No
Why does Carmine hate being Brazilian so much ? Thats like the vibe i always get, and like he is proud of not understanding Portuguese? Weird Flex.
It's a meme at this point that I dislike it and not the actual truth. I'll make that more clear going forward
Shouts "it's Charles Dickens!!!" at the screen.
As a writer myself, heard the vitriol on the bird app from you two…. Definitely has made me think twice about criticizing GRRM again for Winds.
Thanks guys. Miss ya! Glad all seems prosperous still!
@redteamreview meant to tag you at the end.
Same guy who said he had both winds and dream manuscripts finished over 2 years ago
Elio & Linda were my first thought on the Patreon ngl! I was the one who said comments were going to go bananas on that post 😹
“Kiss Prine was pretty good”
LoL😂
Apparently "Probaste laburando cementerio de barbacoas" translates to "Did you try working, barbecue cemetery?" I laughed longer at that than I should have.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood is Charles Dickens’ unfinished book that he was working on when he died
and you know what? he deserves it, 12 years is ridiculous. and that's without getting into the fact that Feast and Dance were incomplete books so we've been waiting decades for the complete sequel to Storm.
all the while mofo is living it up doing anything and all other than finish the book that made him rich and famous. sure he has writers block and what not but he's got effectively unlimited money to hire ghost writers and consultants or what have you in order to actually get it out
