Speaking about wishing there was an additional penalty for getting it wrong... I need to point out that if someone is arrested, their name and face is broadcasted. This means they're a free Get for Kira. It is a penalty! And also, if someone is arrested and not murdered, they might be the Kira Follower. Or Kira might be playing coy. Who knows! That's Death Note, Baby!!
I also want to add a point to this. If the investigators end up voting for L to get arrested, the game is pretty much over as his info gets given out. L has to stay away from people constantly throughout the day and also has to avoid fixing Kira sabotages. So it's much more likely for him to look suspicious enough to get voted
This group is gonna have a really hard time getting out of the mindset of "people dying near person/person moving from dead body = person is evil" since Kira remote kills. It's definitely an interesting game with potential, I do think it needs a tiny bit of work, but either way I hope you guys play more of this and don't just write it off as another mediocre amogus clone
Would be nice of you could as Kira give your follower a paper from the Death Note, allowing you to kill one person. The downsides being it's a visible handoff so players and NPCs can see it and both can see you write on the piece of paper. Also, you have it until you dispose of it so it can serve as evidence that you are a follower.
Ah, but there are good reasons to give someone a single sheet of paper, thus the developers can implement this feature in a way that doesn't incriminate the follower until the sheet is used. After it's used it then becomes evidence that needs to be disposed of. Now being seen giving someone a sheet can be suspicious in this scenario, thus you'll want to be careful.
This was a fun session. It was nice to see a new type of social deception game crop up, especially based on a property as cool as 'Death Note'. It did seem a bit difficult to understand at times and I do think there could be tweaks made to allow the killers a chance to kill more than two per round, perhaps with a cooldown system as in Among Us, but it definitely has potential. The giant heads of Light and L looming over those goofy looking dolls was always amusing and I enjoyed people running away from each other screaming at them not to touch, lol. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this, so hopefully Ze and his friends give it another try one day!
I think you guys are playing way too fast considering the gauge speed. Everyone who was playing for kira was speed running for the IDs and eliminate players but that seems to dramatically increase the odds the of immediate arrest unless you get lucky and picked L.
I think it would help a lot if the time required to steal an ID took just a bit longer. This group especially loves to group up and do bits, so it's super easy to just grab ID's of most of the lobby.
wrong guesses are bad! it says your name and face is posted that is a free get for kira, in the death note universe the name and face is all you need to get someone!
@@tortillachips3911 I think you can do the act at any time, the name and face revealed means that you can wait 3 game days then get them, you have a free name to take at any time you want. in the anime you could set a person to fall in 3 days after writing there name or even a whole year, a face a name a time and a cause of death that what the book tells you, reality must be factored into cause of death or it will just be a heart attack.
@kitmountaincat6102 yeah ive seen the show lol. in the anime you could also write a thousand names down in a single day, but that's not how the game works.
I was waiting for them to realize, too, but Chilled does tell everyone near the end of the video the downside of voting an innocent person! So, they know now.👍
After watching a decent bit of this gameplay (wanna give it a shot myself but haven't gotten around to it yet), I can definitely see what this game is going for but think the rules need a little bit of tweaking. I feel like the game gives you a lot of information for how to find out who Kira is, making every kill very risky to do, which would seemingly incentivize Kira to play the long game and try to get kills here and there when they feel like it's safe to do so and filling up the evil task bar. This sort of gameplay would also fit the show's vibes a bit better. But that doesn't really square with the massive incentive that Kira gets for killing, namely that killing L is an instant win. So I feel like there needs to either be some sort of additional thing that Kira needs to do to win besides just killing L, or that Death Note kills should be lowered from 2 per round to 1. I feel like one of those changes would give Kira more of a reason to hold off on killing investigators until they can muddy the waters more, give an actual reason to bother with any of the task stuff (like, why bother killing criminals in this version of the game when all that gets you is task points which won't ever come up) and make it less likely for a game to end in 1 minute because Kira just got lucky and killed L first.
Aren't task point needed for Kira and L to gain the different sabotages abilities available to them? Not doing them would just simply limit their respective capabilities right? Not only that, I believe each succesful Kira sabotage nets him like +10 points in the bar. So technically Kira could win via sabotages alone. Limiting the number of people Kira could kill to 1 makes voting and arresting people randomly even less consequential and the game may last longer and play way slower.
Not entirely. Remember, the Death Note DOES have rules to it. And, at the discretion of the Shinigami King, rules can be added, altered, or removed. The only time a rule is fake is when a normal Shinigami adds it, as seen when Ryuuk adds in two rules for Light. REAL rules are added later on in the one-shots, such as when rule LXVII was added with "The a-Kira Story", which states "A human who buys or sells a Death Note will die". So it's very like that rule VI "The conditions for death will not be realized unless it is physically possible for that human or it is reasonably assumed to be carried out by that human" would likely balance things out, as Bandai could easily make ID's RFID implants that can only be read by a "Traitor Tester" like device.
@oryxthemadgod3202 I've never seen the anime, but the last 1/3 of the manga is downhill, too. Specifically, the N section (that should be a spoiler free way of saying it).
Yeah, I watched it on Chilled's live and then watched some of this thinking I might get any idea of what is going on, but there's just a whole lot going on. Every other social deception game I can understand in a couple minutes.
To be fair it's their first session. Check any first sessions on social deduction games and you probably would feel the same, where the group tries too quickly to do stuff. I also think the evils always tried to collect IDs and get kills way too fast, leading to being more likely to be sus'd? Which could just be 'first time playing' kind of mistakes. I feel like this game you kind of need to take it slower (like First Class Trouble or Project Winter).
Whatever potential this game had, it was all ruined by an utter lack of visual clarity. This would've worked much better as a modded role for ToS instead. Jackal-like role with two followers that can discover names of players they visit, allowing their leader to astral kill.
What's unclear? The UI is pretty clean, the goals are pretty clean too. The only thing that might be confusing is investigating a body. Also, you do realize this is an officially released game by Bandai, right? They have no associating with Town of Salem, Among Us, or other deception games.
@@SealFormulaMaster I would say the "deliver an item" task is pretty unclear as well, seeing how Ze kept trying to deliver without having an item needed.
@@akumuryuu That could be explained better for sure, but if that's the only issue, I still don't see the problem. Personally, I only consider something an issue if it prevents the game from functioning. There's no real need for the "Return/Deliver Lost Item" quests, except for another way to get two people close enough so one could still an ID or have the Death Note change hands. They could remove it in favor of something more clear, like checking an ID. That would also allow both Kira/Followers and L to pull a Naomi Misora and show a fake ID during this task, meaning the only way for Kira/Followers to get a real ID is through theft, and would allow L to move a bit more freely.

I still have these finger puppets from like 20 years ago.
The characters remind me of the finger puppets in the show. Love the details xD

Indeed and if L is the one who gets arrested, then that's just game over. So there actually is a pretty decent risk when it comes to voting people out

If not the full anime, then at least a recap/analysis vod?
If it operated the same way as the anime/manga the killer would be unstoppable
True. Just write cause of death and then proceed to control them to steal and reveal id's that ends with their death. Game over, Kira wins
