    I forgot to mention to keep pH of your growing medium to 5.0 to 5.5 when growing blueberry cuttings. You can add vinegar or sulfur to lower the pH of your growing medium.

      I planted my first blueberry in ground. I used DOWN TO EARTH’s acidi mix and mix that into my soil (I like the use black gold natural organic). I’ll add some more of the acidic mix come fall time. The one thing I didn’t do was plant multiples soo I’m looking to add at least one more.

I've tried soft wood cutting, hard wood cuttings, grafting( ending in killing a plant) seeds, and have just about deemed that digging is the only way. But will give yours a try, never tried to take cutting when dormant, now I don't know why, but am looking forward for the snow to abate to try. Thanks you got a sub from ALASKA

    I had ran out of stakes, and I snipped a tree branch, shoved it in ground and used it as a small stake. It budded, to my surprise, and grew leaves. That was really an awesome discovery. So, when I cut my rose back, I just jammed a few branches in a pot that I was growing veg in. Three out of four rooted and budded. I kept one and it is doing well. 😃

    I have just purchased blue crop blueberry bushes but have not planted them as it still gets to below 0 here in Canada. After watching many videos where all say the soil has to be acidic I measured my own clay soil. Of Course it is very alkaline . Now, I'm fearful to grow these bushes. I thought I would buy bagged acidic soil and put them in a raised bed. Then I will deal with them in fall and put them in the ground. I don't have much hope as I don't know how to keep soil, acidic. Thank you for this video.

    Just to throw a differing perspective here- There is research from Oregon State which found blueberries do not require any growth hormone, and that keeping cuttings damp in peat moss for a few months to allow callus tissue to form is more important than hormones.

    • @DaisyCreekFarms
      @DaisyCreekFarms 2 года назад +2

      I have tried it, however only about 10% of blueberry cuttings make it without the growth hormone. Not sure if I am missing anything.

      Yes they can grow in pots, use 15 gallon or larger container.

    • @oftenwrongphong
      @oftenwrongphong Год назад

      Old question, but for anyone reading this, yes. I just u-potted some of my 4 year olds into 10 gallon pots. Growing very well. Since they are in pots, you have the luxury of moving them to a location that shields them from afternoon sun in the summer. I'm in zone 9 and the hottest part of the summer day can sunburn leaves crispy. My Rabiteyes are 5 feet tall but 15 gallon pots I'd avoid until they get bigger (maybe in two years), as the pot will likely stay soggy too long.
