Nice deck. I have the CT-S810S. They are serious machines. Even the noise the functions make are cool. I love Pioneer gear. Why did they change the typeface of their logo. The old one was very cool with the symbol before it. Now the logo is pretty crappy. I hate it when brands change their typeface from classic to disastrous! Great video. Tape is really cool and I still love it. I like the work involved, like Bias, EQ, and tape types. It keeps you busy and you learn about sound. I hate mp3 and iPods which suck and are no fun.
very nice deck i own a mkII ,because it was given to me by a girl friend of mine that had it stoped and needed a belt change and clean the calibration knobs, it as a very detailed sound i also own other pioneer decks and this one, but the mkII it´s a very good deck as the one you have is very similar regarding sound quality, i also am using a ct-959 and a kenwood deck both have high quality of sound ,either playing or recording, regards and a happy new year with health and all that one needs to be happy
in early 90´s they prove by testing that the dragon wasn´t good compared to the main deck from pioneer, but we are talking about a deck released in 82 and one released in 1990(the pioneer)but the CT-91 or the others a bit older are also good ,the problem with nak decks either than the price are the excessive use of plastic ,it´s main functions as azimuth alignement it works hard if one uses any kind of cassette and being partially made of plastic with the heat it deforms the piece, i myself prefer the nak zx-9 far better than the dragon, i only sold them never kept one for myself
not that fractionated and if the CT-737MKII is far better than the dragon one is 1990 other is 1982,worlds apart on sound improvement and the dragon also is poorly built , the NAK dragon is like a trabant is to a 70´s range rover(the pioneer) had them both, the price of a new dragon was above the ct-737 but not from the CT-939MKII or CT-959(both better in recording quality)
Which record player and amplifer will be historically correct for use with this deck? And suggestions? (Only Pioneer). Also looking for a tuner. Don't want the cheapest but in the same League as the cassette deck.
the MKII is like the ct-939 without one capstan on tape transport, and this only have bias control not calibration with bias and level .EQ is given by the type of cassette
that is new they prefer beef to lobster?both work with japanese cassette brands perfectelly including type I, a good deck takes high quality of a good type I

Agreed 100% the old logo m emblem was looking v premium and high end , new logo looks like Chinese .

I've owned one. It was a great tapedeck. You could calibrate it yourself, to some extent.
this year i think it was the high-end deck as the cd player was the pd-7300 ,regards and a happy new year
Душевный аппаратик!
Amazing sounding deck. My friend in Germany had one and it aproached the Nak Dragon in terms of sound quality at a fraction of the price.

the CT-959 is a better deck in my opinion ,this to compare with the dragon

Awesome deck

Cool! I have a CT-S707 cassette deck. My eject is not motorized. :(
Hi...I see this one is quite an old post...But, maybe...do you know what is the difference between this one and the MK II version ? Thx
the MKII is like the ct-939 without one capstan on tape transport, and this only have bias control not calibration with bias and level .EQ is given by the type of cassette
Do you know by any chance if this model is single/dual capstan and if belt or direct drive? I cannot find this information even on vintagecasette...
Hello, it's a single capstan belt drive.
can the cover where you put the tape come off so you can twist the thing to make the tape sound better?
are you refering to the azimuth control, yes, it needs a screw driver ,a tiny one
QUALITY VIDEO!!!BUT THIS SOUND...HAVE A SYNTHETIC DISTORSION
the song is mostly synthesized, but that happens not having either than the bias a level control
WHAT A BEATY!!!!
The Mark 1 prefers different tapes than the Mark 2
that is new they prefer beef to lobster?both work with japanese cassette brands perfectelly including type I, a good deck takes high quality of a good type I
Single capstan?
some don´t like doble capstan for many reasons ,but i´m not going to talk about prós and cós.
