Your energy and enthusiasm are great! I bought my first home server this past year which is an HPE Proliant MicroServer Gen10 Plus. I started out with openmediavault and now I'm discovering how cool proxmox seems to be. Thanks for your videos. Great channel. I subbed.
I’m still using the free version of ESXi and the 10 cpu limit on my GNS3 vm has limited my lab size. This is going to be a very valuable and timely series! Thank you Jeremy!
Jeremy + proxmox = awesomeness I love the way you teach and now that you will be doing proxmox series... Am all in! Ive been trying to learn virtualization and now its that time to 'Go big or go home' if you catch my drift 🤣
Awesome ! Awwwwwsome! I get so many courses and I wish Jeremy had series on them. Jeremy, those scribbled notepad illustration mean a lot in demystifying concepts for me. I got this course somewhere and midway through the course I realized I didn’t know what was going on. Many instructors just dive into building stuff and ignore breaking down the nitty gritty of the basic concepts which serve as building blocks and shape our knowledge and skills into administrators who know why they are doing or designing what they are designing. Thank you sir. Please record the full course and/or design real world scenario-based material like you did somewhere else.
I would be interested to learn some of the differences between Proxmox and VirtualBox, if you are up for it. It sounds like they both cover the same niche, but there may be some differences between the two. I'm not quite well versed enough in virtualization to understand those differences fully.
Hey - i thought of a question while watching; Can I have a pool storage volume of, say 3x 500gb SSD's in Raid5 that I can connect to an ubuntu server VM and have that same data set (website downloads) accessed on a Windows PC ? I think SAMBA might be the answer, but I'm sure there's better alternatives ?>
@Viatto Maybe I did it wrong, tell me, but when I installed proxmox from ISO, I had to purchase a $124 subscription key and install on server. Did not see a totally free version like you imply here. Just for a home lab, learning and experimentation.
Proxmox is not a "poor cousin" to vSphere or Hyper-V, it is a less Microsoft oriented alternative. It has some incredible advantages of it's own: Ceph, Proxmox Backup Server, LXC etc. Many Proxmox clients USED TO use vSphere/Hyper-V and made the switch to Proxmox for business reasons. Much like the way many jump from Microsoft to Linux for other server implementations; it just works better.
Doesn't XCP-Ng solve the "limited" features issue that things like Citrix Hypervisor (you forgot to mention it - perhaps on purpose? 😉) and VMWARE Have? or is it limited now too? Is ProxMox still the best centralized management in 2024? I need a starting place for a Server to have a lot of other test Hyper-Visors and VMs (for WIndows, and other O/S's)
Hello, I'm a layman here. What is , what is ventoy, what is proxmox, what is home assistant, why do I need a second computer, and what minimum equipment is needed for installation? Is it for Windows or just Linux? I'm looking for basic information. Can you post a link? Thanks.
The problem with vmware is they try to be like Cisco - everything is "a la carte" to increase sales. You want this or that? Pay us money now - Make it Rain!! !! LOL 😂 I love opensource for this reason only; all the features without busting your wallet.

What great timing! I am finishing up building my server this week, and Proxmox is what I plan on running!
Thank you for taking on this series!!! Much needed
I did not know that there is an open source virtualization platform like this one :-)
I will test it
Thank you for this info!!

Nice I install it but was so lost that I came back to esxi. Looking forward to this videos thanks Jeremy.
Sigh, another channel I can't miss... subscribed! :)
thanks for being clear and informative
Not to mention Proxmox supports ZFS and Ceph. Definitely my favorite Hypervisor for my homelab.
Looking forward to it
Really helpful you have a new subscriber :)
More practical video. Thanks.
That's the most exciting intro I ever saw.
Love your energy! Great video!

What backups can you recomment using Proxmox, VM's

Bonjour, l'installation de Proxmox est toujours sens problème. Avec Vmware esxi il y a toujours le message d'erreur de la carte réseau non-trouver.
Dont forget the proxmox backup instance you can spin up too

The link to the course is broken
How does Proxmox VM backups work (not snapshots)?
Tried ESXi and XCP-ng, Proxmox definitely takes the cake. Especially if you need to pass-through a gpu it's way easier and works.
I wish he'd explain the GPU passthru.
Well hope to get out something abt proxmox vs qemu, will have to search for that term again.
Is there any reason to consider this if you have access to Enterprise licenses to vSphere and Hyper-V?

You are still the same as when I "left" you lol. You are so awesome bro!! Glad I found this channel. SU......
......BSCRIBED!
I use qemu and the command line.
I still don’t know what it does .. lol
I still don't get it. People can only explain Proxmox by pointing at other linux software I've never used or heard of, like Docker.. ingenius!
Bro docker isn't linux software
If you dont understand what docker is or what VMware hyper-V is e.g then why bother to understand it?
if you don't understand docker, container runtime or virtualization then what are you doing under a video about proxmox 😂
Dudes looking for a Camry in a exotic car dealer.
Everybody explain to me like to a 2 year old. I do have experience in this, but i dont know why and how
no free version anymore
Can you play games on guest machine that is installed on Proxmox?
Yes VMs has GPU passthrough, it can get a bit complicated but its on the proxmox wiki available
@@TandSylvester Thank you
Does it work with GNS3?
I've done it on a server, does have a bit of a manual process but totally possible. Once set up its set up
wow, citrix not a big play anymore?
You guys notice we’ve never seen this guys left leg… 🤔
you talk like Dr. Strange about multiverse. LOL! I will try this.
I think the title is wrong, you should rename it to Vmware vvs proxmox or something
Ha, you look a lot younger on the video than the thumbnail 😅

Is this the CBT Nuggets guy?
Are you the Colombian drug lord?
@@noisybobcatv4935 Absolutely! Trying to get away from drugs and into the technology field.
You should never have to saw off your leg for an employer. This is IT people need a labor union.
The voice is out of sync?
Well there WAS a free version of ESXi...... lol rip
"There's a free ESXi..." lol not any more
Dead Link, my guy
So you all have seen Proxmox in a legit production environment not a mom and pop shop?
I think that most production environments that aren’t mom and pop can typically afford the licensing… that’s kind of the point
this why you should not take amphetamines, record and post on youtube...
Can somebody explain what the F am i watching. Like to a 2 year old.
