- On this episode of Super Greed dated May 5, 2000, we pick up with Ed Kim's team going for $1 million. Later on, three more teams including the famous team of Phyllis Harris, David Juliano and Lauren Griswold starting their run at the tower of Super Greed. Hosted by Chuck Woolery. Enjoy.

I Wish They Would Bring This Game Show Back On Television.
Ed was the first captain to decline the freebie on the 7-choice question, and then it happened on consecutive teams. Interestingly, the first two teams to lose on the $100K question were also consecutive.
Also interestingly, only one other team declined the Freebie at 500K, and they too lost (Vincent, Ronald, Edgardo). Only difference is that they had 3 of the 4 (Vincent changed a correct answer for a correct answer, and left a wrong one alone). That episode is also on RUclips.
If it were me, I would almost certainly use the Freebie at 500K if I haven’t already…
Aaron and Lauren had the most softball individual questions ever of any team's $75/$150K combo.
The episode after George won $600000. Lots of fans will be thanking you for this episode.

As an old soul person for 2000, holy shit I miss watching Greed and Super Greed even on Game Show Network as a little kid in Florida.
True Story.
This was the episode I’ve been looking for a long time thanks again mate you’re awesome
Same here bro
all good mate
Major props to u for upldoading this. This show was a gem and hard to find these.
All good mate, enjoy
The 12 year-old me at the time already knew Bill Clinton’s year of birth and also knew that Allen and Ford were not the right answers - so I was down to four out of the remaining five. I shouted a loud “no!” when Craig accepted those four answers.
Huh, that soft drink question has got to be one of the easiest 1M (7 answer) questions in the show. Considering coke is basically a nickname for all other soft drinks, Pepsi is so widespread in restaurants and has so many exclusive deals with many big chain restaurants and Mtn. Dew is also insanely huge.
None of the wrong answers even seem plausible or come anywhere close in popularity. They didn't even try to come up with bait answers for that one. I've never even heard of Hires brand root beer. 7up and Orange Crush aren't super common, like you never really see them served in diners or restaurants or fast food or anything.
They should've included Sprite or something more popular to make it more difficult.
Actually, I was stuck between 7-UP and Mtn. Dew. Once the Freebee took away 7-UP, then I knew it was Mtn. Dew.
He had $1,000,000 on the line with a question about Barbie and he decided not to use the Greed Freebie. That's pure stupidity. How much could that man have thought he possibly knew about Barbie that he'd risk life changing money on it? The audience even had the gall to cheer about that decision.
I think you raise a good point here. A man who's most likely never played with Barbie dolls in his childhood (unless he has a daughter or something), AND one of two female teammates had just been eliminated in the Terminator. Not that I blame David because there was no way of knowing it was going to be about Barbie dolls but I think if it was Gloria, Lauren, then Ed, AND he used the Freebie that could've helped.
Also, I posted a separate comment about how I thought it was foolish of Craig on the next team after Ed's to not use the Freebie on that question about celebrities sharing the same birthyear as Bill Clinton. That question was hard enough WITH the Freebie! And even if his team did make it to the $2 million question and got to use the Freebie then, it would've still been best four out of seven so I'm not quite certain what he was thinking there.
The captain before Ed, I feel, would've used a freebie on the Barbie question and if it came down to him being unsure on the 4th answer, he'd take the $100k money and run
Jane Fonda?! She's almost a decade apart from Bill.
Damn, that Barbie question was tough, i didn't know any of the answers.
Ken really should've used the freebie, that way he could've lowered the odds of getting 2 wrong answers and at least got a buyout offer.
His name is Ed. And I agree. He made a huge mistake not using the Freebie.
The Barbie was definitely one of the more difficult 4 out of 7 questions, as the 3 wrong answers all sounded quite plausible. Contrast this to the 4 out of 7 Monopoly board game question and some of the wrong answers there ("75 spaces on board" or "played by Apollo astronauts on the moon") were blatantly wrong - spaces on the board would be a multiple of 4, and there's no way you could play Monopoly in a low/zero gravity environment with all the pieces flying around...
@@therussianspy5882the monopoly question the other wrong answer, Tommy tune Broadway play of 1986 which was wrong. That question was easy to get when you think logically about it.
@@therussianspy5882 The monopoly one was weird, the right answers i feel were hard to get at first but could logically make sense, but the wrong answers were just so obviously wrong and out of left field compared to the right ones. Like...why would people play it on the moon? How could anyone who's seen a monopoly board think there's 75 spaces, there's just not enough room with how big the spaces are.
Compare that to "Released during the great depression", "Rejected by Parker Bros.", "A Prisoner is drawn in the jail space" which all seem like things that could very well be true about a board game, even if you know nothing about monopoly, the only one that's whacky is the Castro ordering copies be destroyed.
None of the wrong ones were even plausible. One of the wrong answers could've been something
@@TripSoul10 @therussianspy5882 Replying to two people: but I thought the Monopoly question was a bit tricky honestly. I don't remember off the top of my head how many spaces there are on the board. Only reason I know 75 is wrong because I know it was a wrong answer on the show. I think had the Freebie been available to use it probably would've gotten rid of the "played on the moon" answer for the reason TheRussianSpy explained. But I was stuck between Tommy Tune and Parker Brothers. This is why playing the $500,000 question with no Freebie is ill advised and not recommended. Frankly, I'm surprised they actually won that question but glad they did.
Bill Clinton was born in between Jane Fonda and Tim Allen.

The Barbie Doll question was very hard. Here are my answers...
She received an Honary Degree from Sarah Lawrence
Her Boyfriend, Ken Got his Ear Pierced
She Was Created by the Founder of Mattel
She Had a Macy's Parade Float
Honestly, Ed made a huge mistake not using the Freebie.
Freebie likely eliminated the theme park answer for that is clearly incorrect.
@@TripSoul10 No question about that.
@@robbyosborne9708Also for that Barbie Question, I would have guessed the following 4.
1: Warhol Painting
2: Parade Float
3: Mattel Head
4: Dream House

As was that Bill Clinton question
Anyone know which episode featured the "smells" question featuring moth balls vicks vaporub, cinnamon etc???
@2000sGSNandOtherStuff-hs7gx That wasn't the question though. They wanted to know which episode the question was in but I took care of that. :)
That was in the beginning of the episode from November 18, 1999. :)
EDIT: And that episode is available to watch here on RUclips by the way.
@2000sGSNandOtherStuff-hs7gx Probably John and Lisa playing the $2 million question in the premiere (I remember that being so much fun to watch when I was a kid and getting to see it again on Game Show Network in 2002) and then George Ellias' $600K win in the next episode. Phyllis Harris' team's run was quite a memorable one as well.
@2000sGSNandOtherStuff-hs7gx What episode? That was the episode from June 23 and Robby Osbourne already posted that.
David Juliano uploaded this episode in parts before. I wonder if he'll see this one.
At the time he posted his appearance I think it posted it in pieces because he didn't have a choice. I remember back in the early days of RUclips your videos could be no longer than ten minutes, then a couple years afterwards they suspended that dumb rule.
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr I definitely remember that time. I'm glad they changed that rule too.
What's with the audio can't hear?
Obviously, this was taped when it first aired on FOX in 2000.
Exactly what Robby Osborne said. A show recorded back in 2000 most likely isn't going to have the greatest picture and audio quality. Besides if you have trouble hearing it well you can always try increasing the volume on your device.
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr Well said.
What episode was it when they removed the Qualifying Question at the beginning of each new game?
They started doing that on the first episode of Super Greed. After they went back to regular Greed, they kept it that way.
The Qualifying Question was suspended for all five episodes of Super Greed. Then they brought it back temporarily to permanently suspend it again for the rest of the show's run beginning on June 16.
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr Thanks! I enjoyed the Qualifying Question bit when I was a kid.
@@lanceplaxton6967 For me personally, it's not that I DON'T like the Qualifying Question rounds but I enjoyed how the five Super Greed episodes as well as how the last five episodes of the show didn't use the qualifier because of how similar it was to the Super Greed episodes, except the money ladder was the same and the show was just called "Greed" without "The Series" in its title. David Juliano from Super Greed said himself in a RUclips comment he liked that they got rid of the Qualifying round for the Super Greed month.

How about Jane Fonda? NO, it's not Jane Fonda. Neither it was Tim Allen.
Bill Clinton was born in 1946.
Jane Fonda - we were way off because she was born in 1937.
Tim Allen wasn't correct either because he was born in 1953.
@32:21, you can read the question almost.
If this were an HD studio master copy, maybe 😊
Part of me wonders if Christian could see over his shoulder….

The first $1,000,000 question on famous toys about the facts about Barbie was a pretty tough one my answers were
1. Created by Mattel head
2. Ken got ear pierced
3. Had Macy’s float
4. Received a degree
Never would’ve guessed had a portrait by Warhol and I thought for sure she had her own theme park but man that really shocked me there
I had the same answers as you. Honestly, Ed made a big mistake not using the Freebie.
@@robbyosborne9708that he did for sure I definitely would’ve used the freebie on that one
Lauren is such a pretty girl
I hope you mean the first Lauren (the one shown at 3:18), and if so, I wholeheartedly agree - she's probably one of the most beautiful contestants in Greed history. Sorry to say, but I don't find the Lauren on the last team (45:00) physically attractive at all. I'd say that team captain Phyllis (even though she's quite a bit older) is way more physically attractive than the Lauren on her team.
@@therussianspy5882 I like both of them.
There are two contestants named Lauren in this episode, so which one? Lauren Jones had a pretty smile. I personally found it fascinating how she still smiled pretty hard as she was walking off the stage following her Terminator elimination. She was probably just happy to at least be on the show and play the game, I take it.
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr I meant to say that both Laurens are pretty.
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr That might have been one of those times where you have to smile or laugh to keep from crying your eyes out.
19:40 A Battlefield Earth commercial…lol
Starts at 19:30. 19:38 epic music starts.
In this episode of Greed we get 2 (out of the 3?) instances where two wrong answers were provided on the 4 out of 7 question. I (think) this only occurred on one other 4 out of 7 question, the one about items on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. I only recall seeing two wrong answers on the 4 out of 6 question once (the question on regular cast members for Saturday Night Live). At least with the Smithsonian question the freebie was used - it looked pretty bad in all the other instances when the freebie was available, not used, and the team gets 2 answers wrong.
I don't think there were multiple wrong answers at any other multiple choice level (4 out of 8 or Dan Avila's 4 out of 9 jackpot question), including the million dollar moments, and thank goodness for that. The drama is certainly ratcheted up for the reveal of answer 4 out of 4 (refusal of Chuck's buyout, background music stops, silence, and a more dramatic sound effect). With two answers wrong, the reveal that the third answer is wrong is pretty anti-climatic.
In the episode from June 30, 2000, there was a team that lost on the $500,000 question with two wrong answers... and the category happened to be Celebrity Timeline as the question asked for four celebrities who were turning 50 that year. Oh, AND that team's captain used the Freebie on that question.
Also, I can't recall if there are any others off the top of my head but I recall there being another two-answer miss on the $200,000 in the January 28 episode. That question was about things people spend the most money on for weddings.
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr True, I had seen that one when it first aired and I had forgotten about it until recently.
The one about wedding expenditures is elusive to me - it's one of the few episodes of Greed I have never seen on TV or on RUclips. The other elusive episode is the conclusion to the team that was completely useless save for the captain (Derwin?) who had just won $200,000 on the question concerning models of the defunct American Motors Corporation (Gremlin, Matador, Pacer, Hornet). For whatever reason that particular episode of Greed was preempted on the Fox affiliate I got here in Western Canada and possibly in many other markets as well - I don't think I've seen a copy of it anywhere on the internet, ever.
The team that had the 4/7 question about the global market share of auto companies also picked 2 wrong answers.
I also gotta give huge props to captain Brent for the most honest admission ever of having no idea about the Smithsonian question, with his in the moment quip about "both freebies".
@@therussianspy5882 That episode was from April 14 2000 and it was here on RUclips for a while but the user who posted it deleted their channel (or possibly had their channel deleted) and the episode went with it. Also did that episode ever air on your affiliate? Even with it being pre-epted I'm sure it had to have aired at some point.
I'm not quite certain what Craig was thinking there, not using the Freebie on the $1 million question. I mean, I can kind of understand if he might've wanted to play the $2 million question later but that Celebrity Timeline question was unfairly hard WITH the Freebie! No wonder they lost on that question with two missed answers! I think if he'd used the Freebie that might've given them a chance but NOT using the Freebie was foolish, I think.
Agreed.
Yeah, at least Ed thought he knew the answers and took the 4th choice on his own.
@@artvandelay7687 What do you mean "at least" when Ed's team experienced the very same fate as the team after his? Especially considering the second answer he voluntarily gave ended up being one of the missed answers so him choosing to give the last answer did them no favors, really.
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr the second answer he voluntarily gave is what I mean by "at least". Ed had the confidence to give 2 of 4 answers, it just didn't work out. In Craig's case, he saved the freebie on a question where he ended up passing the 4th answer, much like Vincent on the $500K moon astronauts question. He should have used the freebie if he wasn't sure of the answers.
Christian Jones went 🚶♂️ for Sylvester Stallone.
As an Internet Research buff, I knew the answers to the question about celebrities born the same year as Bill Clinton.
Yeah that wasn't a very difficult question, IMO. Bill Clinton was also known as the first "baby boomer" US president, and was born 1946. Jane Fonda and Harrison Ford are both older (i.e., not boomers). Dolly Parton has always looked the same (she openly admits to having a great deal of plastic surgery), but she was definitely in her 30s when "9 to 5" came out in the early 80s. Tim Allen is younger, and maybe that was one of the more challenging ones to recall.
Jane Fonda would have been eliminated by the freebie but they still would have been wrong.
It might be an age thing but i had no idea, i'm 25 and missed out on all but the last years of Bill's presidency. I couldn't even walk or talk yet.
