I'm 25 years old and I started gambling when I was 19, and how it all started for me was the first 3 tines I went I won over 5$-600 and I was hooked afterwards and thought it was easy money, and it also doesn't help that I have won over $15k 3 different times and before you know it they have you hooked and your spending your whole check each pay period. Just in the last 4 years I bet I've lost roughly $75k in the long run. It's a terrible habit to have, my advice to anyone is to just never start gambling in the first place.

Yeah I always called it a stupid people tax. I was at my job at 19 and someone bought a crossword in front of me. He was a regular dude would spend 300 dollars a day on books. I bought 1 2$ ticket and won 50.00
I fell pray to the trick. I got into poker games at casinos, scratch offs, and other ways of gambling like sports games etc.. it is the worst decision I ever made. Always managed my money pretty decent before that. I feel like a fool because I stopped for 3 years and when my ex broke up with me I just fell apart. Started drinking again after 3 years and everything else. Just really making my life extremely hard. I have 2 sons too and I feel like a failure. Was always a very attentive father and did everything with them. Now I see them 1 to 2 times a week for a few hours. Its shameful

You know what saved me from my gambling addiction? It was the pandemic. Being under shut down forced me to stop gambling because, there were no places to gamble. It was terrible for the first 2 weeks, I became anxious, stressed, suffered insomnia, and I ever felt some sort of physical pain.
But as the days burned into weeks, into months and around a full year, I lost any urge of gambling even when places started started opening up again.

@@disrael2101 hey, the solution depends on the person and there isn’t one way for everyone. First part normally is to admit to yourself (genuinely) that there is a problem. Then its important to put in as many blocks as possible (online) and even contact bank as some can block gambling transactions. Talk to someone you trust and explain the situation. Take a day at a time, go easy on yourself. The dopamine from normal day to day activities will come back and urges to gamble become much less frequent

Really trying to understand how does someone enjoy gambling so much. I cant even stand playing card for 20 minutes, but a relative has a 3 day per sessions gambling addition. (no sleep, and put all they got into it, every penny) They closed everybody and everything in the life to play cards, including their children's needs. Its unbelievable, no reasoning only a quick feeling. (no good use of mind) They are chasing a false hope of "Winning it Big" but that doesn't exist mathematically. (72 % chance of loosing, especially the longer you play) I think this is a learned trait (reward/punishment) and the brain may have been re-wired when they create the false hope of winning and using this situation to get away from punishing feelings. Its like they are in love to win, but its not real. Why cant they reason properly ? they lost this skill in addition... i need to understand.

Any animal operates like that. If there's a payoff or a loss every time, it loses its appeal.
Lotto does nothing for me. I prefer much better odds. 1:300+ mil odds is just moronic.
And they always say: SOMEBODY'S gotta win...
