  • In this video, I'm gonna show you how to make a super simple 1.77 MHz mist maker and its driver circuit with only using 5 components, that's incredible. this circuit runs at 12v because I used a 12v Ultrasonic Piezoelectric Humidifier disk but if your disk has the capacity to take more voltage, don't be afraid to push the voltage. that's nothing for the circuit because it is strong. 😉 happy watching.

    Hello dear Ciiads, your video inspired me to try myself, but unfortunally i couldnt get it to work with a 2,4mhz piezo, but but but, then i started to experiment and got it to work very beautifully and highly powerful. I used your circuit, with an igbt, and i used a 1,5k puldown resistor from gate to emitter, and i used a 220uH torioidal inductor. And i used a 3k resistor insead of 2,2. I powered with a 19v laptop power supply... This setup works amazing for me. Please share this very important information! ❤ Kisses from Germany. Thank you brother❤! PS I use this to power an ultrasonic e cig tank called usonicig. Unfortunally the company went bankrupt, so u can only buy the pods. I can share more details if you want me to...

      the piezo disk itself is the oscillating component it's in the feedback path and I never tested 10 MHz piezo but this circuit will handle up to 2.4mhz, For anything beyond that we have to tweak the supporting components as well, I recommend designing something with Colpitts oscillator is the way to go in my opinion. 😊🤗

      @@Ciiads However I'd suggest that in the video you show a circuit diagram to your circuits. That way they will be easier to understand. From a circuit diagram everything is straight forward, you know exactly where to connect each component, in what orientation as well. Seeing the circuit itself, without a diagram doesn't make clear where the connections are going. Even more that you are soldering from the opposite side of the board where the pins of the components are in a flipped position to the original e.g, the base of the transistor is at the place of the emitter. Also that will save lots of explanations where and how to solder each component.

      @@Ciiads The outlet of the piezo disc should face upwards. Water vapor must also rise upwards. The orientation of your piezo disc is sideways. For this reason, the amount of steam output is not fully understood. But when you dropped a few drops of water by hand, very little steam came out. This means the steam output performance is poor. Your opinions are important. What is your suggestion to increase steam output?

    • @Ciiads
      @Ciiads  Месяц назад +2

      You’re right, the piezo disc was placed vertically in the demo because we currently don't have a proper mechanism to mount it horizontally.
      This particular 1.77MHz ceramic piezo disc is solid and doesn’t have the tiny holes in the center like some other types.
      I want to clarify that I'm not hiding anything, what you see in the video is the exact output of this circuit at 12 Volts DC. If you find the steam output to be poor, that's an accurate reflection of the current setup.
      If you're looking to get more power, I recommend experimenting with over-volting the circuit within the piezo disk's safe operating limits, using thick tracks, and short, thick wires.
      Additionally, some viewers have modified this circuit with IGBTs to improve performance. You can find one such comment further down where they explained their modifications and component values, though they forgot to mention the IGBT part number. You can also see others' opinions from those who successfully built the circuit.
      Thank you for your suggestions! If you have more tips or insights, please share them. We're always looking to improve! We can make a better version soon.

    Dear Aneeshmurali Sir, excellent work and very nicely explained. Many appreciations.
    One doubt Sir, can we use a cheaper power transistor of IGBT or JFET or MOSFET? The power transistor 2SC5200 is very expensive in the market; it handles 230Volts and carries 30 Amps and so the cost is justified. However, a low cost alternative would be much better and non BJT colution will also eliminate the need of heatsink. Any suggestions on alternate part number of IGBT or JFET or MOSFET Sir?

    • @Ciiads
      @Ciiads  10 дней назад +1

      No worries ☺️, At the heart of the device is a piezoelectric transducer that vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies (like 1.77 MHz).
      When electrical energy is applied, the transducer vibrates at high frequencies. These vibrations create pressure waves in the water, breaking it into very fine droplets that form the mist.
      The process doesn’t involve heating, so the mist is usually cool and not hot enough to burn you. However, the transducer may get warm during operation. The mist produced is generally safe to inhale in moderate amounts, but it’s not intended for direct consumption.
      However, it consists of tiny droplets of water suspended in the air.🤗♥️👍.
      I hope this clears things up and adds a bit of insight to your day!
      Thanks so much for your question.

    Can this circuit be used to drive 24V discs @30V (for higher mist output)? If you want a multi-disc system, can a single circuit drive multiple discs at once or does each disc need it's own circuit? Also, if we are buying the 100uH inductor, what size is needed? Is a 6*8 enough, or is something like 10*12 or 10*16 needed?

    • @Ciiads
      @Ciiads  Год назад +4

      As per the datasheet of the transistor, it's fine to handle higher voltage but you have to use a better heatsink to cool it down.
      Using thick wires and a thick layout is very important.
      and also use a high current 100uh to 150uh radial inductor which is also very important, the current capacity of the inductor is all the matter that's why I made one myself.
      Thin wires and thin layouts and weak inductors cause overheating and unstable operation.
      I never attempted with multiple disks
      But you can always experiment with that
      Good luck

Please explain. Bye Matti

    • @Ciiads
      @Ciiads  Год назад +3

      Piezo disk resonance plays the role
      The LC circuit in the oscillator circuit sets up its own resonant frequency based on the values of the inductor (L) and capacitor (C) used. However, when we connect a piezo transducer to the circuit, it introduces its own resonance characteristics.
      The piezo transducer has a natural resonant frequency at which it vibrates most efficiently. When the circuit is driven with a frequency close to the resonant frequency of the piezo transducer, the transducer responds more effectively, resulting in stronger mechanical vibrations. This, in turn, affects the overall frequency of the circuit.
      The LC circuit provides the oscillation and frequency generation, but the presence of the piezo transducer influences the behavior of the circuit by effectively locking the frequency to its own resonant frequency. As a result, the output frequency of the circuit aligns with the resonant frequency of the piezo transducer.
      So, in our case, using different piezo transducers with different resonant frequencies will cause the circuit's output frequency to align with the respective resonant frequencies of those transducers.

    • @Ciiads
      @Ciiads  Год назад +1

      why are you not considering the piezo resonance the output will depend on it, there are 2 nos of 47nf in the circuit, and this circuit will complete only when the piezo is placed.
      Did you tried it, on my frequency counter it was never 73,412 kHz
      Here f is not 1.77mhz like fixed frequency it changes according to the resonance of the disk if you place a 2.4mhz disk in it, it will oscillate within that range.

    can you guys explain how it works? does the vibration or heat create the mist ?

    • @Ciiads
      @Ciiads  Год назад +2

      The mist maker contains an ultrasonic transducer, which is typically a ceramic disc or plate. This transducer is made of piezoelectric material, meaning it can convert electrical energy into mechanical vibrations.
      When an electrical signal of 1.77 MHz frequency is applied to the transducer, it starts to vibrate rapidly due to the piezoelectric effect. As the transducer vibrates, it emits ultrasonic waves into the water. These waves create high-frequency pressure variations in the liquid. The pressure variations generated by the ultrasonic waves create small areas of low pressure, causing tiny water droplets to form. This process is known as cavitation. The rapid formation and collapse of vapor bubbles lead to the creation of mist or fog. The water droplets formed by cavitation are extremely small, typically in the micron range. They are then released from the surface of the water as a fine mist or fog, which can be blown or diffused into the surrounding environment. That's it

      because "if we are thinking about simple we can't achieve the impossible "
      I don't know about your situation if you did everything right it will work.
      It only works for those who build well because each and everything in the circuit is so important a little mistake is enough to make it worse. the problem is your build,not the circuit. if you wanna see my build you can come to my place
