our school taught non-chinese earlier than he did. it is not so much about the color of people's skin but wether he or she belongs to the community or not.
Bruce is such a positive force it is unthinkable how a single man could unify people of different cultures and skin color together under one passion. all this without using violence and hate. peace to you.

@@richardhaw9757 those in the Chinese Martial Arts community know. We know the challenge match wasn't due to the teaching of non-Asians.
We know Master Lau Bun and GM Ark Yeuy Wong were teaching non-Asians. Ark Y Wong beginning in 1958. One of my teachers, an African American man is one of his students.
And we all understand why Kung Fu wasn't taught right away. It was a combination of leftover from the Qing Dynasty occupation of China along with the discrimination against Chinese during WWII and after. It was never a "racism" thing.
It was "teach no one else" because they will use against us.

Ed parker was one of those masters that just ballooned to 240 pounds at 6 feet tall. I still see these masters with the same ignorance about diet and cardio training. My instructor was also very heavy and died in his sixties. I do train in martial arts, but training with weights and cardio drills have keep me fit.
You are correct in what you say about all these masters and grandmasters. Our hearts can only carry so much weight for so long. Vitamins have helped me stay young. A good multivitamin, krill oil, CoQ10/Ubiquinol, D3 and Whey Protein all aid in living longer.

If all Bruce was was just Hollywood hype, with all the real MMA, fight science, choreography, special effects, and talent available in this day and age, how come his legacy has never come close to being duplicated? His philosophy, studies, students, and world wide impact in the martial arts were witnessed by many and felt globally in an age w/out internet and a lot of racism. If some of you would actually take the time to study him some of the skepticism may change. What actor in this day and age, or any, would go to a national tournament and challenge fighter to a demonstration? Acting abilities can be only take you so far and there are many, many, actors if this drama we call life but one can only act so far. In his brief life time he left a huge dent which can be still witnessed even in these comments. The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long. I feel he was a very driven, dedicated, and extremely disciplined individual who took the study of his craft, whatever it may be, very serious and dedicated himself to the pursuit of his goals and vision while changing the world

i think alot of people that say bruce lee was a fake and no more than just an actor and could not beat the likes of chuck norris or joe lewis had they really fought need to remember that bruce was sent to the us because he was actually always in trouble for STREETFIGHTING, and im fully aware due to this bruce was fixated on training and learning was was effective and really worked in a real situation and what didnt,
chuck norris in my mind wasnt a real fighter but just a semi contact points scorer, i too have done this and full contact kickboxing and confirm point stop isnt fighting and DOESNT make you a fighter so chuck norris needs to stop making out he was superior to bruce lee.

My experiences from being a addict and dope fiend that brought aspirations to my life is the fact that change is growth and advancement to better yourself. People study martial arts for the wrong reasons. It's really sad and disappointing. They're insecure yet seem to have too much to prove, maybe not to everybody else but too themselves.

TO THOSE WHO SAY THAT BRUCE LEE WAS JUST AN ACTOR ONLY WHO DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FIGHT
I don't agree with your statement that Bruce Lee was a myth and was just an actor who did not know how to fight. Bruce Lee did not fight in the ring but he certainly knew how to fight. I am not saying that he could defeat all the mma fighters of today.
Legendary World Heavyweight Karate Champion and US Kickboxing Champion who was voted as the best Karate Champion Joe Lewis could not land even a single punch or kick on Bruce Lee in a REAL sparring match admitted that he got a couple of punches from Bruce Lee and that Bruce Lee's punches were like bullets and also said that Bruce Lee punched like a heavy weight and was untouchable. Imagine a statement like that coming from a World Heavyweight Karate Champion. Both Jim Kelly (World Middleweight Karate champion) and Joe Lewis (World Heavyweight Karate champion) said Bruce Lee was the best martial artist and was untouchable.
Although Bruce Lee was not a big guy, he was not an ordinary guy. He had phenomenal body strength, punching speed and power and also kicking speed and power. Bruce Lee had a punching power of about 350 pounds, equal to that of Muhammad All.
In real life, no one was able to block his kicks or avoid his extremely fast and powerful kicks. It's a pity he did not demonstrate that in a fighting ring but I believe he could also have demonstrated that in a fighting ring.
I rather listen to Jim Kelly and Joe Lewis who knew what they were talking about than listening to any Tom, Dick and Harry.
By the way I am a martial artist myself and I know how to analyze a fighting situation.
Not only Bruce Lee's punches and kicks were super fast but they were also lethal and powerful. Bruce Lee was too fast with his powerful kicks and punches. He had the punching power of a heavyweight boxer and his kicking power was just too great. He did not fight in the ring because he was busy concentrating on starring in movies, a career that made him famous and rich. He did however had real sparring matches with world karate champions like Joe Lewis, Jim Kelly and Chuck Norris. Jim Kelly and Joe Lewis said that Bruce Lee was too fast and untouchable. Joe Lewis could not land even a single blow on Bruce Lee and said that he got hit by Bruce Lee a couple of times and that Bruce Lee's punches were like bullets. Joe Lewis said that Bruce Lee punched like a heavyweight. Both Jim Kelly and Joe Lewis said that Bruce Lee was the best martial artist.
You don't have to fight in the ring to prove that you can fight. I personally know a couple of martial artists who beat up to 6 guys on the street. These martial artists were no body on the world stage.
Chuck Norris was just a World Point Karate champion. He did not compete in Full Contact Karate tournaments. Joe Lewis was the first Heavyweight World Contact Karate champion and he defended his title many times.
Whether Bruce Lee could become a UFC champion is another issue altogether and everyone have their own opinion whether he could become one but I don't agree with your statement that Bruce Lee was a myth and just an actor who did not know how to fight

Plus people who get on Bruce for never being in a tournament, so what! He came up in the streets. His proving ground were actual street fights. His gang and other gangs would test each other in roof top fights over buildings.
The reason he left Hong Kong for the states was because he kept getting in trouble with fights.
He got into the Martial Arts to be a better street fighter not to participate in tournaments. He was all about what worked in real fights not some point competition.

Am not going to take sides, from what I have heard about Vic Moore. When I didn't know his titles and achievements, I didn't believe what he said about the speed drill vs Bruce Lee. But he was a World Champion and has a lot of titles, and beaten a lot of people in competition. I think he must be good. As for Bruce Lee, he has a different philosophy to his technique and his martial art then and is style is still very different to many martial arts now, in the ways of his speed and his own style if you know what am talking about. Bruce never entered a martial art competition. However, he did fight on movie sets and even on the street. That's a big deal for any actor, and Bruce had his reputation on the line, if he was beaten. So Lee was unique in the way of his fighting philosophy and fighting as he was an actor also, as well as being a martial artist. Vic Moore must also know his stuff, having achieved those titles in the martial arts. It can't have been easy. Am trying to search for videos of Vic Moore in competition.. Again am not taking sides on this matter..

Victor Moore was the first successful martial artist instructor/ practisioner in Cincinnati being self-taught at first then placed himself under Robert Trias. With the exception of my Korean instructors he taught all my instructors including my elder brother William Gray Jr. who was also trained by, Ahn Kong Wong, Kim Young Chee, Nagamini Nashima {son of an Okinowan Grand Master}, Choi Jun Pow [aka Master Che] and Bruce Lee by correspondence....all my mentors {Ward, Wharton, Bob [Moo Duck Kwan] Harris} and Mr. Michael Possey who attended that tournament in the 60's said the same thing that Master Moore said "it was not a competition but a speed demonstration where Mr. Lee threw 3 hand techniques at Master Moore , two of which master Moore blocked and Bruce blocked non of his then they shook hands ,bowed to each other and hugged....My mentors said that Vic only became bitter after Bruce's handlers doctored the film and changed the story and Vic was never invited to do TV or movies like Jim Kelly who he beat, Mike Wallace who he beat and Chuck Norris who he also beat . These men had two things in common, they were all world class martial artists and they bowed down to whatever appocraphyal stories Bruce's handlers came up with...Vic would not ...IJS

Louis Gray this gentleman has created a storyline that didn’t happen. The man said a speed competition, 3 punches thrown and he blocked 2 and the 3rd was 2 ft away which from the film appears to be true. If this man was not there then is speaking from an angry place. Racism is a tremendous burden to overcome and not even bruce .lee was trying to help much. Lastly, yes the grandmaster should keep fit but this man should not blame the victim either. Vic Moore would’ve been great in a movie right beside bruce, actually that is too much correction because a black man brought the science to China and you have to have a lineage to be a Japanese Samurai- there is a great movie coming out this year about that man who brought the arts to China also-

Bruce could speak well ,draw, teach, he trained to music waaay before the rest of the country. He wrote articles . The only time he said he whooped somebodies ask is when a fool climbed over into his yard and Bruce protected his children and life. These people can't write. Jim Kelly and Joe Lewis said Lee was no joke. He made the largest contribution to fighting arts that anyone ever made.

You are welcome. I think that it is really sad when people don't want to give proper credit to whom it truly belongs. Often times it is because they have not reached the level of notoriety the person that they are criticizing has. That is not to say that these individuals are not talented, but simply a matter of accepting where it is that fall in the rankings so to speak. If you really believe that you are worth your weight in your craft, then that should be enough for you, so stop wasting your energy on trying to defame someone else who is known throughout the world . peace.. -brother teacher

Did Vic Moore, or anyone else, claim to have beaten Bruce Lee? That would be a really stupid claim to make, unless he has evidence, since there's no credible record I've ever heard of showing Bruce Lee fighting anybody, ever. Is Moore on record somewhere making this claim? I would hope he's smart enough not to claim a fight happened and then have no proof.

Grandmaster Steve Sanders was present when Vic Moor defeated Bruce Lee in a competition that Lee wanted to do, and Steve Sanders was personal friends with Bruce Lee, and even starred as Jim Kelly's Kenpo teacher in Enter the Dragon. Sanders went on record saying Vic Moor DID defeat Bruce Lee in 1967, he was there, and he knew Lee personally, and Lee let Sanders be in his movie. That being said, Steve Sanders' word is more credible than this self proclaimed martial artist in the above video, period.

Thank you sir for your comment,I appreciate your response but i don't particularly like being referred to as a self proclaimed martial artist and you don't even know me.
Firstly,I have the utmost respect for Grand Master Steve Sander,by the way whom i have admired since i began martial arts in the early seventies. He was then known as the man with the fastest hands in Karate. Secondly, I have already stated that
i know Grand master Victor Moore personally and also respect him highly'
If you paid attention to the premise of the video, you would have found out that the whole subject was predicated on a demonstration not being a real fight.
Please keep things that are said in proper context, because in no way would i make any attempt to discredit Grand Master Moore or any other master for that matter.
If a person, such as myself can not offer constructive criticism, or a viewpoint on such
a basic subject without receiving an intelligent response as opposed to being labeled self proclaimed, makes me wonder about the person responding.
Finally, i have no dragons to slay,I still love and admire both Grand Master Moore and Grand master Sanders, however being able to accept any type of criticism as a martial artist should never be an issue because this is the greatest attribute we all are supposed to have mastered, and that is DISCIPLINE! Enough said..

Unfortunately I've also listen to two clip where others have stated that gGrand Master Vic More blocked not just one like you said but two punches from Bruce Lee and they were there. Now as far as being in shape as a teacher does not make you a poor teacher. Some of the greatest coaches in the world are out of shape. And some were just so so when they played the sport. What makes something "scientifically work is something that is proven by being tested. Not by writing a book. It's apparent that you are bias about Bruce Lee but your comments have no wait or substance. Be loved my brother.

Actually if you look at the first attempt it was a block as Bruce was retrieving his hand back. This makes sense since obviously the one throwing the punch is moving first. the block would be a few mill-seconds slower out while Bruces hands were already tracking back and like a hook extended far enough to catch his hand like a loop snare. Not catching it on the inbound and lets admit it. He who moves first has the advatage in a quickness test. But Bruce by those rules won even though the test favored the puncher! But Victor was insane fast! I would have liked to have seen the fight better since this would'nt be a favored test. Like a reaction test. The punch test favors the puncher.

You're right about what the Bible says about being "slothful," and many of us our age (I'm 56) are guilty of it. But just because we're getting up there, doesn't mean we should let ourselves go. Regarding Bruce, no other martial artist has inspired so many--both in and out of the sport--to strive to be the best the way he did, regardless what he could or could not do. I may have some issues with certain aspects of his philosophy; but, he's one of a literal handful of individuals who have had that kind of impact.

+reginald stroud Let me get this straight. You are talking about demonstrations . When did anybody said Victor Moor defeated Bruce Lee in a fight? That's a pointless argument.
Furthermore, you were not in the crowd of who saw the event. Others who were their said Victor did what he said he did.The tapes you are talking about is said to only be part of what happen so your analysis of the tape is irrelevant.
No one ever beat Bruce Lee? Who the hell did Bruce Lee ever beat? Unbeatable? He never fought anyone to be beatable in the first place. And that's the problem with Bruce Lee. His legacy is built on fanboy speculation like you're doing. Bruce Lee is celebrated because of movie stardom not actual fighting where he proves himself against other opponents. The same problem people have with boxer GGG. Who doesn't face quality fighters but is treated like he's P4P king since Floyd Mayweather retired.

...Timeless comments. My thanks for flogging the carpet on what really matters. You mentioned Biblical principle more than once specifically with eating. Idolizing trophies doesn't do a thing for calcified joints. Mastering the menu is correct. Love the word more than being a ho-ho to a pimp in a mini skirt named hostess.I remember how Bruce was generally ignored by the USKA shorei-goju Bob Trias black belt stable who, of course, monopolized all knowledge of the fighting universe. He nodded Vic up there to test Bruce to stop Parker's bragging. At Jhoon's tournament in Washington in 69, they berated his demo. Bruce showed the same blk belts the short punch in a hotel room. Ignored again even after he sent the guy over the couch. They could not dismiss Bruce's talent so they were dismissive of him. Perhaps embittered by what they didn't get out of the art that Bruce did...a legacy...and being remembered.

If the story "is true" that Bruce Lee challenged all of them to a speed test and GM Victor indeed "catch his punches" then that "would" classify as a win. Especially if Bruce Lee put out the challenge regardless if it was a demonstration or not. When someone says "challenge" at the end of a challenge that has to be someone who wins as well someone who looses. Once again, if the story stands to be true and he did catch his punches, Then Bruce Lee lost that's just facts..

hi. i didn't have time to view all of ur video, but i watched videos of the demo btwn lee & moore. 1 of them was very good definition. it clearly shows lee getting thru moore's defense & pulling back before he could even touch lee's arm. there were actually 4 punches. the sharp video jumps at 1 point so u can't c the result of 1 of the punches, but the other videos from different angles show the same result, moore couldn't touch him. moore claims 1 of lee's punches was done while he was looking away. both vids show from both angles that he wasn't. some may criticize that lee's punches were 6" inches from moore's face, but lee was demonstrating that even tho he was out of range, he could still penetrate moore's defenses. some may criticize lee not competing in tournys. points tournys r stop & go, stop & go. u keep punching, kicking, etc until the ref sees a score. 1st of all, a real fight is all out w/out someone stopping u to award u a point. 2nd of all, the winner is only as good as the refs' ability to c u score, & i've seen punches score that weren't seen by the refs. so i can c a good reason y lee chose not to compete. a loss to a lesser opponent cuz of a ref's inability to c punches that landed cuz he blinked or wasn't in the right place to c it, would have discredited lee, unjustifiably so. plus the fact that the refs also judge a punch on power & probably wouldn't award any points 4 a lead punch, which in jkd is a powerful punch, unlike the jab in boxing. also, i don't believe that ur allowed to use trapping hand techniques. that's probably 1 reason he turned down ali's boxing match challenge. youtube jim kelly, bruce lee. according to kelly, lee was unbelievable & no one could "kick his ass". & he said he knows the world champions that sparred w/lee & didn't want to admit that lee could beat them cuz they had reputations to uphold. thanx 4 uploading this.

I recently heard an interview from Bill Goldberg where he was asked if he regretted not getting into MMA after his NFL career had ended. Goldberg said he would not have gotten into MMA because there was "no money in it at the time." Goldberg chose to make millions of dollars as pro wrestler, instead of thousands of dollars as an MMA fighter, and who can blame him? Well, Bruce Lee made millions of dollars as an actor as opposed to a few thousand dollars that he might have made in challenge fights, and just like Bill Goldberg, who could blame him? Just like today, in the 1960s and 70s "boxing" was the most lucrative form of fighting. Back then, even top-tier boxers didn't earn anything close to what the top-talent in boxing earns today. Also consider that top-tier kickboxers of that time earned even less than many "mediocre" boxers. Just like Bill Goldberg, Bruce Lee would have been crazy to fight professionally for a fraction of what he could have earned as an actor.

+Scorch1028 ...uh yea. Im afraid you know what you're talking about. I've sat at table discussions with ex-tournament fighters turned promoters of other venues for this reason especially back in the middle seventies in Chicago when huge tournaments tent poled from so many of them being held. Some fighters saw tournamants going the way of the western and got out early with their bodies and joints still in good shape. They were able to segway into, for example, stunt jobs in films. When Chuck Norris hit his cinematic stride, his brother Aaron came looking for us and we kept a job making Chuck look good in the fights. Now these guys have retired living comfortably off residuals so you make sense.

number one: you obviously weren't in attendance, so why would anyone listen to you about this subject. number two: what in the world does your current weight or physical condition at 50 something have to do with what one was able to do in their teens and twenties? number three: do you have or have you seen the entire video of the "event" in question? i can't find it anywhere, so please share it if you have it. if you don't, your opinion is unwarranted. if anyone's motives for doing what they're doing are in question here, you are the prime candidate. cease and desist until you've done more to discredit victor moore. the only footage i've seen is an obvious looping of a no contact single attempt at a "punch". lashing out to hit somebody who's in ohio while you're standing in kentucky does not a strike make. "his"-story has been so often altered when it concerns black people. the footage truly seems like another attempt at just that. i guarantee you that whoever it that put that piece of crap out could not begin to fathom the fact that we'd have the ability to see past the lie it portrayed. wrong!!! we can!!! just open your eyes!!!

+KIRSTEN ELAM The one thing that I keep hearing in this video is him saying... HE WASNT THERE and REALLY DO NOT KNOW! Well his opinion is no better than my own! Then he has Bruce was his mentor... From a distance. SO he wasnt his mentor. He is just another man that is butting another man (Bruce) upon level of being inhuman!

peace to you too, what a lovely piece about Bruce Lee, Bruce was the nearest thing to a real life super man, that's why he's still as popular today as he was when he was alive, I often wonder what further achievements he would have made had he lived? it is upsetting when you hear b.s. stories of ppl purportedly fighting & beating bruce in private combat( Wong Jack man) for starters, take care 👍

reginald stroud Sir, with all due respect, you have slandered Vic Moore name. First of all, he never said he beat Bruce Lee(this implies there was a fight/sparring); he said that Bruce Lee wanted to demonstrate a so-called unstoppable punch and he was able to stop them. People are talking about punch that Bruce threw when Vic was momentarily distracted, you can clearly see that this one punch was loop on this video to make it look like all of the punches Bruce threw touch Vic. Notice people never ask where are the videos of Vic Moore punches threw at Bruce? The reason is because Vic says that all of his punches touched Bruce. Lets see that part of the tape. Another problem I have with us as a people Sir, we believe the worse in us but the best in other people. Here it is that black people was discriminated in Martial Arts by Asians and Whites but yet we lift them and put down each other. Jim Kelly who vehemently praised Bruce Lee; show me one well done documentary on him on a major network channel; show me one well put together movie with him besides Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee where he was killed! It is a documented fact that Bruce never was in a recorded fight against the best fighters in the country but Vic Moore was and he beat them. I am new to this channel, Sir, but have you talked about the racism in Martial Arts? Have you talked about how black fighter were cheated when they went to Asian and White Martial Arts tournaments and told that" No Blacks Was Going To Get First Place". Even today in Martial Arts the greatness of Black Martial Artist isn't even known, so much so that we are not looked at as credible in MMA even though the greatest MMA fighters are either Black or Foreigners.

    • @mikeworld39
      @mikeworld39 9 лет назад +1

***** I was asking you Sir. Let me just give you a list of his victories that are undisputed; he beat Chuck Norris, Bob Wall, Joe Lewis, Superfoot Bill Wallace. He also founded Kickboxing in America. Show me one piece of documentation that Bruce Lee fought anyone.

    • @mikeworld39
      @mikeworld39 9 лет назад

***** With all due respect, people around him say he didn't lose. He threw 4 punches, he said that Bruce landed one punch because he was temporarily distracted but he blocked the other 3. I believe him because it is obvious that this one punch he didn't block was looped on this video and made to look like Bruce landed more punches than he did. People have given Bruce this mythical status because he was an Actor who market himself as the best when he didn't compete. The same way the Gracies marketed BJJ as the best ground game, which is a lie.

Well presented! Wasn't Grand Master Moore there in person and you just watched the video? I'm sure you see the difference. :-) P.S. Even if Moore was able to block Lee's punch, that does not (necessarily) mean he could beat Bruce Lee in combat.

Vic moore lies he says he blocks one of 3, but there is another video of him claiming bruce threw 6 punches altogether,, the first 3 vic blocked them all.. then Bruce leaned into him and beg vic to let him do his demostration and not show him up,, so vic purposely let bruce out speed him..... but if you watch the video that is clearly not the case.. at the tjme Vic was out speeded and impressed by Bruce..... he also said later bruce walked over to him and said to him that he was the fastest guy he had ever encountered.... lol..
ofcourse it is lies and he never beat bruce... It is bitterness and jealousy... but at the same time anyone that crossed paths with bruce is asked more about bruce than themselves lol bruce is so big,, he overshadows everybody,, including chuck norris.... Joe Lewis, Jim kelly, doesnt matter who they are.... as much as they acheived themselves in life which maybe great,, compared to bruce lee they are just part of bruce Lees legacy.. Bruce was the star... so im sure being asked and look at by students as the person bruce lee out classed in a demo can bring abiut anger and hatred towards bruce..... Vic moore is great in his own right,, he shouldnt compare himself to bruce,, noone can.

+impact glory do you know why people know Vic Moore is a liar? He said in his video Bruce Lee was an actor from Green Hornet as Kato at the Long Beach KC in 1967. Little does he remember, Bruce Lee only got the part as Kato after the 1967 Long Beach International Karate Championships. Lee was an instructor before he became Kato. That show you he is making shit up as he goes. Moore also said there was only 3 punches threw. But the video shown 8. Not to mention Moore also lost the sparring during after the demo. I guess Moore can't just let it go because Lee was one memories he can't erase from his past, so he have to made shit up to justify it. It is funny so many people that knew Moore and Lee are calling him out after Moore made his video.

+impact glory Whether or not Moore could block the punches doesn't matter. It's a demonstration, not a fight. It's also unequal - the attacker has the advantage, and Moore never got a turn to be the attacker. And, you know, people always make excuses for Bruce not competing, saying the rules were too restrictive. Well, number one, Vale Tudo existed, so that excuse is bullshit. And number two, if people are gonna say tournament karate rules were too restrictive, then they can't count THIS as "beating someone" because the rules here are that one guy has to stand still and wait for the other guy to punch at him. This is way more restrictive than a real fight. Moore can't move, can't even keep his hands up, can't hit Lee if Lee gets too close, can't land a heavy counter-hit after Lee falls into range with his speed-only punch that leaves him off balance...and so on. This is a demonstration, and all it really shows is that letting someone get within striking distance with your guard down is asking to get hit. That's a valid point to demonstrate, but you don't get to call that a "defeat" and act like the guy who you asked to let you get the advantage over him was beaten by you.
