  • If you're looking for an unbiased, owner review on the MORryde Safe-T-Rail, this is the video for you. Watch this video before buying. I'll give you an up close look at the Safe-T-Rail and demonstrate how it works, plus I'll share my likes and dislikes on the product. I'll also answer these questions:
    1) How stable is the Safe-T-Rail compared to a standard RV grab bar on a scale of 1 to 10?
    2) Is the railing angle adjustable?
    3) Is the railing compatible with other stair systems such as the Torqlift Glowstep Revolution?
    It's great to see new products in the RV market, especially ones that solve common problems such as the classic wobbly folding handrail/grab bar that most of us have on our towable RVs ranging from entry level travel trailers to highend fifth wheels like my Jayco Pinnacle.
    If you have any questions about the MORryde Safe-T-Rail that you'd like answered, be sure to let me know in the comments below and I'll do my best to answer them.

    I would love to see this as a standard feature on the Grand Design rigs.

    In my experience with the product, the best I can characterize it is just as another option. You're absolutely right about the powder coat. Scratches off, especially when there's road dirt in it. Didn't take long either, about 3K miles before it was showing. Ours became rough to handle quickly. I pulled it apart, media blasted it bare, primed, and had my nephew wrap it with automotive vinyl. The vinyl is holding up well. I took the time to shorten the extension about 1/2-foot too before it was wrapped, and capped the end with a plastic push in I found at the hardware store. Because my little granddaughter cut her head on it, we also stick a motion activated light on the magnet since at night the rail isn't easily seen and protrudes too far. All in all, I completely regret installing it. We're stuck living with it or scars from removing it, so I've just made it work. I should have gone with my instinct and bought their rail that bolts right to the steps themselves now that I need a little more stability going up and down steps.

    It's hard for my wife to get in and out so I will be ordering one, right now I have that extension that you attach to the holes on the step but I have to put them on and off every time we move our RV.

    Is it very sturdy and can you buy one for the other side?. My wife is handicapped and she has to pull hard to help her get in.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  6 месяцев назад

      It's very sturdy on the downward motion, especially with the diagonal brace (creates triangle). Side to side movement is better than the conventional handrails that fold against door, but there's still some side to side movement. I've never seen anyone put two, one on either side, but I suppose it is possible as the clearances should be the same on both sides. Only downside I can think of upfront is the door may not be able to open a full 90 degrees if the second one is deployed...?

    I don't think it is very strong (meaning left to right) saw it at the Hershey RV show , plus I pray no child runs into the end when playing outside.
    Sorry but the design should have a rounded end at the bottom .

    I’m surprised they haven’t integrated this handle into the steps themselves that would fold right with the steps whe you stow them back into the door frame. I don’t know that you could get a height of 34” on the rail. Like you do with the exterior attached one!

    hI, LOOKING INTO A NEW RAILING FOR OUR FRONT DOOR (5TH WHEEL). happened to see this on Facebook and decided to look into it. so I have 2 questions for you. (1) is the part of the rail that slides out round ?? dia.? thinking I could possibly add a support to the ground on the end. (2) was wandering just how much weight can it handle? I am about 230 lbs, if i tripped could the rail support me without damage to the rail?? good video.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад +1

      On #1, the railing profile is more oblong...very similar to a residential interior basic handrail profile. There's one residential profile called an Oval 5600 and this RV handrail is almost identical to it. On #2 with the diagonal support it creates a robust triangle giving it rigidity. So very minimal flex at the end as railing appears to be all steel. I'm solid 200, and only get minimal flex bearing down at tail end. There still is some flex side to side, but not near as much compared to the conventional fold-out RV railings. If you wanted more stability you could probably rig something up to the end...options exist anyway.

    First off love all the reviews! I had a question, towards the end of the video it looked like your door smoothly closed behind you without you having to push it shut. Is that an actual product??

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад +1

      Thank you. I wonder do you have one of the friction hinge doors on your RV? I've had those in the past where you have to use some force to get it to shut, but my current one just has a regular hinge (no friction). Let me know if I am understanding correctly.

    • @jodibillingsley
      @jodibillingsley Год назад +1

      @@AdventureRocks yes we have the friction hinge doors. And when I saw you towards the end of the video just kind of tap the door behind you it looked like it was shutting smoothly on it's own (like those cabinets and doors you see in kitchens!)

    The thin strip fell out for myself when unpacking. just test fitting I put it away for later. I didn’t see it till hrs later just thought it was something I drop in the packing of the box
    I threw it it the trash
    Not thinking of it
    Now the saver was watching your video till the end, bingo that is what it was. got it back out, got some of my wife’s double stick tape and replied it on. Now I’m going to use a very small amount of super glue to keep it from falling out
    Just wondering how many other fell out to, just another thing that needs corrected just maybe extra strips with the hand rail
    But Good video

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  11 месяцев назад

      I never confirmed with MORryde if the strip was intentional or just packaging. Seemed like the former, but who knows, right?

    • @lovetheusa9858
      @lovetheusa9858 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@AdventureRocks I still think it’s Not packing due to one side has sticky tape. I believe that if the strip was about 4”-6” longer it would have stayed on
      I place mine on the end not knowing, but did put crazy glue on it held good. I installed it today I also made a slight improvement. I changed the head of the bolt to a pan head counter sunk the bracket now the head is flush with the bracket. Has a cleaner look now.

    This is great. Wonder if it would work with a Motorhome.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад

      Don't see why not. It does give 53 inches of handrail though so might be too much for a motorhome given most of the steps are inside the door. Here's a qualifier video to see if it'll fit:

      @@AdventureRocks Thank you for the reply. I went to your link and I found out why it won't work on a motorhome. It is because the steps are different. I went to the Mor-ryde website. and under the Description it says, "Please Note: The Safe-T-Rail is not designed for motorhomes." Too bad.

    Can you cut it down in length if it's too long for one's needs? I don't need it coming down to like my knee by the ground, I only have a 2 step stair.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад

      I could be mistaken, but I think MORryde may discourage against cutting it down. Although it is just metal in the ends, so possible I suppose. Only issue I could see is as it slides in/out you may have to use the angle brace to pull in/out rather than the extension piece once cut shorter.

    I have a 2020 Jayco Eagle HT 280RSOK and the door area looks very similar to yours. Did all the screws for the SafeTRail go into wood? I'm concerned about the 2 at the bottom of the door. Was that solid in your estimation?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад +1

      Yes, very solid. All my screws went into something solid, even at bottom. I forget if Jayco puts wood blocking inside their aluminum studs, but there is definitely an aluminum stud right there on the outside of the door jamb, full length. The screws they provide are more like sheet metal screws, so they grab nicely into the metal. After I pre-drilled my holes, I used a impact driver to get them about 90%, and then a hand screwdriver for the rest. All of them grabbed nicely and tightened up on something solid. Here's a full install video I did too: ruclips.net/video/cMNiyusO31o/видео.html
