One of the saddest deaths in Home & Away history. As there was no spoilers or advance warning that Dieter Brummer did not renew his contract & the writers decided to kill the character off.
I wasn't aware of them supposedly not getting on off screen, but this was a very sad and a memorable point of Home and Away. Shane was one of my favourites and grew (in my view) to become one of the most popular characters in the soap of this particular era. At the moment, there are not episodes uploaded from 900 onwards, but this was just as sad as seeing the deaths of Megan. Having episodes from 2000 onwards which was the class of 1997, I can see why I was starting to lose interest.
this is what I saw in an exclusive interview with the late dieter brummer that melissa george was a ‘diva’ to work with & that after a year working together they started to not get along however they will go down in home & away’s greatest love story & saddest departures. This video is even more sad knowing that Dieter took his own life not so long ago 😢
@@SEAN-jx6yu I remember the interview and he said she wasn't popular with a lot of the cast as she had no time for them and thought she was the new Kylie. Then when she got a few roles in the US, she basically said Australia was jealous of her being successful and needed to shut up. She then went begging to them for help when she wanted to remove her children who were born in France from there and their father said no. Her reaction to his death was cold as well. No one asked for a 100 page tribute but she said nothing and instead a week or so later posted a crappy meme about death.

Then a while later, she posted a picture with the words ' Every dead body on Mt. Everst (her or whoever wrote it's spelling) was once a highly motivated person so...maybe calm down.' on a white board.
Shane was one of my fave characters back then even when he became Mr. Married which sorta sucked a bit of the fun out of character. I remember this aired in the UK around the same time Arthur Fowler in 'Enders kicked the bucket.
I loved Shane and Angel as separate characters but not together. I felt that Shane would’ve suited Shannon or someone else. Angel was great when she was on her own with her children, it showed her in a different light. Sometimes these pairings don’t always work but that’s just my view.
Poor Angel and Dylan - I thought it was brilliantly done how they showed different people in the town being told the bad news.

How could shane still be an organ donor when he wasn't on a life support machine as there was no oxygen being delivered to his major organs .?
