- Did you know Shanghai had a thrift store? Because I didn't until my good friend Melissa told me about it, and whilst explore the Christmas Market in Hongqiao I knew I had to pop over to the thrift store and check out their range of second hand clothing at a fraction of the retail cost.
In this video I walk around the streets of Shanghai, indulge in the city's cafe culture, and explore the local crafters market to get into the festive spirit. Melissa and I also head out in search of the hidden unmanned bookstore in Shanghai. This time of the year the weather in Shanghai isn't too cold. December in Shanghai is usually around 10 degrees celcius, but now is the time to thrift your winter coats and jumpers before the temperatures drop to freezing in January and February.
What are some winter traditons where you are from?

It makes me want to cry every time I see video about peaceful china, it is my daily zen!😭🙏😇
❤️❤️❤️
The city in China with the most Christmas atmosphere is Hong Kong. If you spend Christmas in a Chinese city, I suggest you go to Hong Kong. Christmas is also one of Hong Kong’s statutory holidays.🎄
I'm sure with your vlogs any expats, or at least any British, would feel at ease to visit the city.
What a day! With your own home made pizza, and a cup of hot coffee in hand during the winter.
Thank you for watching! This city definitely has something for everyone 🥰
Shanghai is one of the best city
I agree 🥰 There is so much to do here ❤️
One of the worst city😂
You got a free lesson on how to make pizza! Great, I go a pre view, but normally I put the cheese last. Nice video, thanks for your hard work and for sharing. 🌷🌹♥️💓👍🇨🇳🇬🇧
Thanks for watching! Ideally I’d layer the cheese, cheese then pepperoni, then more cheese. Or just give me the whole tub of cheese 😅😅 ❤️
giirrrlll I've been meaning to check out that bookstore!!!😍😍
❤️❤️❤️
The pizza you made is very beautiful😊😊
I had lots of help from the owner. Maybe I need to go back and practice more ;)
you look pretty in red!! 🤍
Thank you so much! ❤️
the foods look delicious😍
It was! ❤️
Whatever that dish was at 12:09 (with the sprig of some herb), your pizza, and the fancy steakhouse desserts all looked so good! I felt so claustrophobic seeing you and your friend searching for the access to the secret bookstore lol. I'd have given up quickly or to truly embrace REAL escape room mentality, I'd try kicking the door in 😂
The food was great! We were so close to giving up with the bookstore. It took us more than half an hour of entering random malls and buildings trying to find it, then about 15 minutes searching for the door code which was right under our nose the whole time 😅😅
You are both very nice people. Best wishes for your future.
@@seawater1322 thank you ❤️❤️
nice collab!
❤️❤️❤️
wow I didn't given know that there was a thrift store in Shanghai. Which one is that
This one is called De ja vu (Duo zhua yu in Chinese) and just sells apparel but they also have a store near Anfu Road specifically for books which I haven't visited yet.
It’s not really thrift store, their stuff are mostly designer and not cheap 😂
Very good 📹 vlog ❤🎉. At 3:16 is your friend dating a chinese guy too?
No, she is married to an American man. She has a RUclips channel too (melissa_renee). You can see more about her there ❤️
@ExpatNatt thank you so much for the suggestion!
✌✌✌
❤️❤️
You are on pizza duty when you visit us XXX
Gladly! Now I really want pizza again 😍
Compared to US price, everywhere is thrift store in Shanghai lol Hope you guys settle down in Shanghai and enjoy everything :)
Not really. Designer stuff are not cheap and a lot of times more expensive than the US.
Clothing in stores in China is no different price wise and brands are more expensive in China, but buying online on Taobao many things are very cheap compared to the US although not sustainable. Buying second hand meant I could get “designer” labels at a more affordable price. But really the clothes I bought are second hand Zara or other high street brands
Would you be able to share the address of the secret book store? Would love to donate and purchase/rent some books
It is 4/F 18 Caoxi N Road (Office G). Even with this address it was near impossible to find hahaha 😂
@ Thank you so much☺️ Will check it out. Keep up your good work with your lovely vlog. Love it
I didnt even know there’s a pizza making course
@@wuhui neither did we until the chef invited me to the kitchen hahaha. I was too scared to mess it up 😅
❤
❤❤
is this an old video? Didn't Melissa Renee leave China?
She’s still here at the moment but will be leaving China soon 😭
Would you guys believe that China's EVs are the best? Although, BYD stands out above the crowd. It's even better than Tesla. Tesla is more expensive, and on top of it, isn't as good. Same story goes for China's drones. The best drones are DJI drones.
Shanghai has a european cities vibes
instead of london paris are the arab indian pakistani vibes
you feel not in europe but somewhere in middle east or india
dirty n crimed places
As Chinese, I want to tell you Sh is not good as you think👎🏿 I prefer France!
The automatically generated English language on your video cannot appear in Chinese characters when selecting Auto Translate into Chinese. You may be using the wrong method or software when editing the video. It's a pity that many chinese missed this video because most Chinese people don't understand English. 😅
@@terryyeung7470 We also share our videos with English and Chinese subtitles on Bilibili (Natt和Miu在上海) for our Chinese audience so you can check us out over there too! It takes us a little bit longer to translate everything as we both go through and make sure there are no mistakes and do it by hand. This can take a long time as auto translate and AI are still not accurate 😅
