“I will always be alone on this job.” -Phos, chapter 35 “I trust you” -Possibly the last words Phos will ever speak to another being. It’s fitting, that after all the times phos rejected the emotional presence of others. After she tried to reach out to them only to fall on her face, that she finally gained the courage to give someone else a job- to not take everything unto herself for once. I hope that innocence will be carried over into the last glimmer of phos, maybe it’ll show us what the bridge really was in the end. Not that of completely ending humanity, but that of ending the cycle of manipulation, violence, the cycle of endless desire. Perhaps that’s what remains of phos- nothing more than a gem that lives simply to sit out on the grass and enjoy the moment.
Yeah it’s truly a poetic ending to the journey that Phos has gone through. With how fast the Bodhi seed learned to speak there’s a chance whenever we cut back to the ship, the little piece of Phos will speak for us.
@@inspirashamul Aniki said that as a god, Phos's mere concerns or thoughts could become reality, so perhaps her giving her own humanity a voice through the shard will be her final gift to the rocks, her way of finishing the story- but a bit more gently.
@@emerald1968 Yeah this is a really cool reading of it since the idea of rocks having a voice/can speak was seen as possible in Ch 99 so Phos could definitely do this.
@@inspirashamul it appears briefly in the previous ones as well, like when brongo (pitapat) talks about his mom's boss. i actually like it cuz it can look as just random detail to the eye or light reflection if you aren't paying much attention.as well as a few sweat drops. my take is that ichikawa added it as a means to convey the emotions of pitapat better. The anger, confusion, worry and panic wouldnt be as aparent imo without these adorable details. and it eases the pain a bit

I think its the end of hnk it would be pointless if they continue after like 107 or 108 since theres not much to do other than showing phos meet everyone or burn the beidge maybe the eye guy decided to take phos with him and they restart since human is completely erased there wouldnt be human influence and plus phos and the eye guy alr told them that humams are monsters or evil and phos cant do much since his powers were gone like years ago so guessing on whats happening either the eye guy comes to get phos again or phos has accepted his fate(he already did)and let the sun engolf phos and even maybe show the bridge there were talking to the professor and the bridge phos was talking but hey its just a theory a film theory

I might reread S1 material for the anime to come out for S2 in July (pre-hell train is some of my favorite stuff).

With all the Buddhist symbolism I wouldn't be surprised that they end it on 107, considering the significance of the number 7 thus far.
I would bet on 108, as it is the number of temptations humanity faces in Buddhism. And this story is all about overcoming those temptations

I think Ichikawa added that mouth with this chapter because I never noticed it beforehand either.
