Bought one 157 miles ago. Rode an analog Xtracycle for years so I have significant brand trust and affection and the Hopper meets my expectations. Handling is great, rides well empty and heavily loaded. Throttle info: folks at the Xtracycle store said the throttle delay is intentional as a safety measure. The other contender was the Abound.
Double kickstand? You mean Center stand. I always thought kickstand yields both tires still in contact with the ground vs. Center Stand lifts the rear wheel.
With that price a Shimano Altus is no option anymore. It makes the drivetrain cheap and wobbly. You see the chain jumping in a several sequences in this video and something like this is easy to fix. You just need a deraillure with Shadow Plus. And no, it's not expensive but you just have to choose it.
I don't get it. Trailers seem cheaper, more versatile, and I never have to unload a bag into another bag, I just put the bags right in the trailer. And I can haul big boxes, chairs, etc. And when I'm done with the trailer I can leave it at home and I just have a bike.
Yep, definitely pros and cons, like everything. Trailers are great for adding more utility, but they don't ride as well, they make maneuvering more difficult, and unless it's a bob trailer then you're now a three-track vehicle instead of a single-track vehicle which comes with its own downsides, especially in urban areas. What I like about the Hopper is it doesn't feel that different from a 'normal' e-bike, despite being stretched. But nothing wrong with a good trailer!
where/how is this better than a $2000 lectric expedtion 2.0? The lectric has a bigger battery at 35ah, a color screen and as far as i can tell the lectric has equal if not better parts on it.
That’s a great bike, but this has higher build quality, higher load rating, is lighter weight, better components, and more features (dropper post, more included cargo accessories, etc). Xpedition definitely wins on price and battery capacity, and is a great choice as well. This is just a more premium bike, as reflected in the price.
@ my question is how is this more premium. The lectric xpedition 2p has a higher load rating at 450 pounds today and 300 pounds for the rear rack. The lectric is lighter weight at 65 pounds with no batteries and each battery is 9 pounds so it’s 74pounds with one battery making the lectric lighter. Only this I can tell is the dropper seat post, but what else are you saying when you say better and more features?
@@riceball777don’t listen to him, 3000 is a ripoff, you can buy Lectric Xpedition, Velotric Packer 1, or Heybike Hauler, all of them are under 2000, they even have bigger battery, battery is the most expensive component in an e-bike, and they are able to make the bikes with bigger batteries cheaper, all of these companies are well known big companies for making quality products.
What are you talking about? The lectric cargo is 1500$ and so is the heybike hauler I'm convinced that you are becoming an unreliable source of information
You might not have watched the whole video. Lectric’s cargo bike is specifically mentioned by name. Yes, it is less expensive. But it’s also lower quality. As always, there are trade offs. And the conclusion of this review is that it is a more expensive model than budget offerings but that it offers more features and better components like the premium manufacturers, albeit at less than premium price.
@@Electrekbattery is more expensive than whatever this company offers, if other big companies can offer a bigger battery but with a cheaper price tag, then I don’t trust a companies with more expensive price tag, no, thanks, please do not advertise this product, just because they are giving money to you to review this bike doesn’t mean you have to review the bike and say all the good things about it, that’s just advertisement not review.
Hi, we were paid nothing to make this review. It sounds like you might be looking for malice. Ultimately, there is more to an e-bike than how big the battery is. That’s like judging a car based on how many gallon the gas tank is instead of noticing that another car has better seats, suspension, brakes, seatbelts, airbags, bearings, etc. Like we said in the review, both are good bikes, but one is simply more premium than the other.
@ you keep saying premium or better quality, where exactly do you see it? Do they use carbon fiber or full suspension, or higher motor power? Because it has none of it. Also other companies’ e-bikes have hydraulic brakes, color display, they also use good quality parts, you sound like they are using cheap parts. This is not a Mercedes or BMW of e-bike, this is just a overpriced Toyota or Honda of e-bike.
@@Electrek I'm talking about more than just this video for example in one of you're recent videos about the priority current you called it the bike for the masses and about how affordable it was but then the price of the bike at over 3k which for other premium brands like juiced is their most expensive bike

Been waiting on this review.
You and me both! I had to take a break from having fun on the bike to actually write/edit the review!
Volvo of e-bikes.
Someday!!❤😂

Happy Chanukah
Thank you, happy holidays to you too!
Hey Micah, since you are back in the Motherland, are you required to fight in the war?

For me it's the added utility to have extra passengers along with the cargo
Cool bike but hard to say this a better value than tern quick haul. But more options is always good.
