    Some good honest opinions there guys. Just an FYI...we do still make the KT63...we just call it the KT63DL now which has been upgraded to test A type RCDs. 👍

    I've been really slack and not commented on a video for past weeks. I don't need a tester as I'm medically faaarked now lol😮😅, but the tech is great. Cheers for an awesome video with legend Davo Savo

    The only thing that sets any tester apart for me in every day use is 2 wire no trip. It's a massive help on the kind of work I do, in schools where everything is continuously retrofitted, rather than renewed, and switch drops never have a neutral. Then again most places that are rewired are rewired with a 24V switch drop and you're straight back at the begining, scratching around for somewhere with 230V you can reach to test. I'm not impressed really with the leading brand that offers this feature and still run Fluke but I am always having to eat humble pie and borrow a mates for the odd circuit on a regular basis. Proper shame because Megger leads are proper shite compared to Fluke ( which are almost twice the price as a downside!).

    Nice one lads, my first was the Kewtech. A really boring thing but those eneloop batteries are fantastic, I'm still using some that are 10 years old.

    I use the TIS pro, I find the long leads a pain in the ass. My other dislikes are that the screen scratches easily and the hardware versions can be confusing. I still like it though.
    I use Ikea batteries that are apparently the same as the ones David recommends. Insulation resistance testing where there's a fault heats up and drains the batteries quickly.

    I have Megger mft 1553 and found the carry case to be pants banging against my leg going up stairs. So I bought a Fluke yellow carry case and its the best thing ever. I also take the batteries out of the 1553 when not in use
    Megger rep thought I was nuts and it confused the hell out of calibration shop.
    Also have a KT72 PAT tester.

    As you know David I have the Robin KTS 1620 . And it does do type A RCD Test it’s labelled as DC,RCD . I also have the Kewtech KT63 , I use my faithful ROBIN KTS 1620 more then the Kewtech.

    I totally agree with the fluke leads i regular have the silicon version as I go through a couple of sets a year. Megger is probably the only tester on the show. You don’t actually have to change the leads it’s a myth you never had to on the 15th series or the 17th great show lads

    I've got a Megger 1552 had it for about 10 years, had it out in all weathers dropped it off steps etc never gone out of calibration does all the tests that are required testers are like cars no one will agree it is one of those things that you have to suit you best. Megger did tell me once that you should not change standard batteries with rechargeable ones as it puts out the calibration something to do with the battery voltage. Never believed the hype of you having to buy a new tester for the new regs. Always found the leads the weakest part and they seem to be silly money the last couple of years. The first tester was a Robin but got the Megger as the Robin tripped RCDs.

    • @Dog-whisperer7494
      @Dog-whisperer7494 Год назад +1

      When you do a loop impedance test your not testing the RCD , so if that test does trip the RCD then you should replace the RCD with a suitable MCB for the test. Then replace the RCD when the test is completed.
      The is the the ROBIN KTS 1620 instruction manual recommends .

    I have a Fluke 1664FC and it the worst most unreliable tester I have ever had! The other thing with Fluke is that the cost of repair by Fluke is more than a new meter. I certainly wouldn’t have another one as it gives unreliable readings and their QC on MFTs seems to be appalling. I do however agree that the quality of their multimeter leads are fantastic.
    I have had and still have my old Robin ones and they are / were great. i have also had Metrel and love them. If I was going to buy another one I think I would go Metrel again as my old one. has been so reliable and consistent. I did start getting some inconsistent readings but like dave changing the leads did the job.

      @@Dog-whisperer7494 Hi Sean - yes that’s correct hence why I don’t use the 1620 any more - if you have a board with a load of RCBO’s it’s going to double the time it would take to test a board off.
