I actually found a glitch in the game once when I played as Tiny Kong and went into the area with the mermaid in the pirate level. I somehow manage to get right behind the mermaid and I suddenly started clipping right through the wall. I swam even further into the wall, and then I suddenly came right back into the beginning of the level, right in front of the DK portal. I mean just WTF??? 😂😂😂😂
What you have described is voiding. When you go too far out of bounds ("Too far" being determined by invisible planes that surround levels and areas), the game automatically puts you back to the start of the level you are in for most scenarios (There are a few exceptions to the rule, such as if you haven't cleared the squawks text in DK isles, when you mess with a trick called flashback warp to get to unintended versions of areas in the game etc.) An example of this can be seen here: ruclips.net/video/DRBSb62E_vA/видео.htmlm As for clipping out, going from your description and brief testing, sounds like you did a trick called "Swim through vertical walls" which only exists on the US version of the game. This happens due to a mathematical overflow error when looking within a certain angle range. A more technical explanation can be found here: pastebin.com/uJHCYmvu
@@Ballaam Well actually, I didn't really do it on purpose. All I was really trying to do was just swimming around and get a clear view of the mermaid's game-based rendering. And then all of a sudden, I just somehow stumbled upon that glitch I was talking about. 😐🤔
@@michaelk.3811It happened to me too; I was trying to get one of the pearls behind her, or just to see what was back there... I felt a little disappointed.
@@calvinospina7307 Not really. To be completely honest, I was just wanting to take a look at the rendering on some of the textures, such as the pearls. :/
Only two questions: 1) do you have to go all the way across the map to get the second rock for every duped banana? 2) every attempt I've made to get the second rock, I manage to get through the wall and take two steps before it "reloads" into the start of the map and everything is reset, is there a specific route and spot?
@@Ballaam thanks for getting back. Good to know that chunky's a time sink. And no, it's on my still kicking 64. No clue why it's happening. I got the red banana in the floor for Diddy just fine, and trying to get Donkey kongs under crankys doesn't reset the map, I just get spit out with a kasplat in the cave tunnel. Just chunky seems to give me this much trouble. Pick up the rock in the wrong spot and it blows up in hands, get in and map resets.
@@davidsmith3687 Oh I think I know why. You are probably just going too far away from the level's intended region that you are hitting a spot where the game triggers a failsafe to bring you back to the start of the level. To rectify this, just try and stay as close to the level's intended region as possible
@@Ballaam time to use gameshark to make this easier. You may not be able to use a gameshark to get over 201 bananas but you can use a glitch to do so. Just to show my friends a score screen that has 999 bananas. (Even with a game shark it will take hours. At least i can have moon jump.)
Golden Bananas are (for the most part) in a list called "Object Model 2". The size of this list is predetermined, and if you exceed this, the game immediately crashes. So after producing a 39th GB, the game will crash when it stops bouncing.
i was hoping for the corruption slide and then the enemies will turn into a golden banana, and banana bunches too if you duplicate a lot of banana bunches
Yes. There is a cap of 7 golden bananas per kong per level (The display when you pick up the Golden bananas can go higher, but you cannot save more than 7 per kong per level to a file). If you do this for all 8 GB worlds in the game (The 7 main levels and DK Isles), you can get up to 280 GBs, which brings your percentage to 132%. However, because of how the game interprets game percentage, this will be displayed in the main menu as -124%. There is a wiki article on this here: dk64.fandom.com/wiki/Max%25
As nice as that sounds on paper, you wouldn't actually get 101% from that (assuming you collect everything else required for 101%). You can only get a maximum of 7 GBs per kong per level before some portion of the ones you collect will not be saved. As a result, you can only get 35GBs (7 GBs x 5 kongs) with this method
@@zumpr4573 in the case you've given, only 1 would save. 25 in binary form: 11001 Regarding the amount of GBs saved, only the lower 3 bits are taken into consideration (001) 001 in decimal form: 1 Alternatively, take your number and keep subtracting 8 until it's between 0 & 7.
