Lots of training required and you'll need the Part66 licence. You can start here for the modules to gain the licence (most are compatible with the American FAA modules). Try the Part66-Engineer app on the Apple store.
If you join a part 147 organisation, you need to log at least 2400 hours to complete the course. The exams are in between with 75 percent passing mark. Following this, you need to log all your maintenance work in a logbook for two years and then apply for a basic licence in your local authority of other applicable authority. Once you get your basic licence, if selected, if need to undergo a type rating for a specific aircraft, and upon completion of the same plus exams for the aircraft, procedures for the company, company policy etc, then you get the authorization to sign for completed work on aircraft or release aircraft fit for flight. This is a summary.
Now that you do not opt for a part 147 organization and choose to train under a part 145 organization only, you will need five years of experience on your logbook. The rest are the same.
@@dba6121 hmm that's new for me. The teacher in my old school told us that we only need 3 years of documented history of maintenance on a aircraft. Plus all the modules to become a B1.1 engineer ( pro tip that hi also gave us. take module 13 so you are not only a mechanical engineer but also a avionics engineer who is a B2 )
