We "creative spirits" are always students, wanting to lern and experience more. So we dont feel like teachers but for ever students. New insperation. Thank you Dave
I’m having breakfast with Heather and Dave, WOW an hour long video. After this it’s my Saturday house work, my kids and grand kids all head here on Sundays.I’m going to hold off thrifting for a while, holidays are headed free in no time.I had a great month last month on thrifting, soon spring cleaning is coming up than more treasures.Love you and Dave🥰🌹
Loved this longer video showing how you go from project to project over time. Also appreciate the color matching and paint mixing details. Very inspirational.
*Smiled ear to ear through the entire video! Well done Dave on guiding us with each creation. Reminds me of how I spent so MANY years with my long time friend Michael. Thrifting by day... Creating by night. Thank you so much for evoking those memories filled with joy and love. God Bless!*
These up-cycle videos are my favorite from you guys. You have such great ideas! I love that you use easy to find materials. Would love to see how you up-cycle furniture as well, and learn how you work through your ideas. I'm so inspired to dig into some projects of my own. Thank you!.
Aww thank you. We use to do a lot of upcycling furniture...there are some videos on our channel " Our Upcycled Home " and " Our upcycled Studio " . We will keep your suggestion in mind. Hope you are having a beautiful day.
Flames always remind me of purgatory. Ha-ha...like the penitente images from Mexico. But I really think you are the William Blake of pants painting. Everything turned out great! Heather, a night in Venice is calling. I love masks too. I once gave a glorious feather mask to a friend for Christmas, this was back in the 80's, and she was so embarrassed by it and just horrified that I gave it to her. I think her thoughts went somewhere mine did not.
Hey guys! Wow Dave I love the jeans! I thought you were going a little overboard while painting them, but the finished result is amazing! I love painting on fabric! Then stitching it into bags. Have you ever thought about using stamps on fabric? Butterflies would look good on jeans, and I think teeny tiny flowers just done in black would look great on the pink shoes! TFS Big Hugs!
Thank you. Dave & I do have several ink stamps that we have used for various paper products...but not for fabric...at least for what I can recall. I will have to try that. Little black flowers on pink shoes does sound beautiful. Thank you for sharing! Lots of love to you.
Such an inspiring video, you're so right about kids art and the beauty of imperfections and being un-afraid to create, as I was also a preschool/art teacher the kids helped me so much with my creativity. Anyhow, ever tried airbrushing? they are so fun for these types of projects too. The Poof skirt looks amazing!!! so fun.
Thank you for sharing. Dave use to do some airbrushing as part of his art program in the 90's. Although many people enjoyed doing it...the process was complex and the supplies seemed expensive at that time. Hope you are having a beautiful day.
I’ve never liked to follow instructions or rules when it comes to my artwork and am so happy to see how you do your own thing! It makes it all worthwhile in the end and non stressful too!
It is wonderful for everyone to know we can just express ourselves through the arts any way we feel...allowing our creativity to explore new ideas❤️❤️❤️
Fabulous! That wedding dress skirt turned out beautifully! I definitely want to try doing this. I have a few wedding dresses I got from the thrift store. Have you guys heard of the Good Will Outlet. They sale buy the pound, super cheap and a lot of fun.
Great job on everything ! I'm planning on trying to paint/dye a pair of boots I bought on temu .. they ended up not being the cobalt blue they were in the sites pictures .. Then I will be doing a moon and star motif on them. I'm hoping to make them look similar to an amazing pair of vintage boots I seen online, years ago
Dave, what beautiful projects! Thank you for showing the process. I enjoyed every minute of it. Very inspiring!✨ Just one question. After your leather bag's paint is dry, is there any chance that it will tint your clothes by wearing it on/with them (if I saw it correctly, it is a crossbody bag?🧐🙂) Heather, you look stunning in everything.✨I am obsessed with that lion themed (soon to be) skirt of yours.🦁😍
Thank you. Dave said that drying time and curing time with !00% acrylic paint are two different processes. Curing time is around two days. This will make sure that the paint does not tint your clothes. I am obsessed with the lion themed skirt too! Hope you are having a wonderful day.
Although the stretchy part of the shoe was stretched a lot...when I wore them around the store they did not feel loose. When Dave painted them...it tightened the straps slightly. If needed, Dave will use a glue that can shorten the straps without notice. Hope you are having a beautiful day.
Hi. This is Dave commenting. The textile medium is only needed if you are going to put the item in the washing machine. Since you are painting a lampshade the question might be...do you want the image on the shade to be more translucent or opaque? Do you want the paint to be glossy or a matte finish? Liquitex matte or gloss medium can be added into the paint to create a translucency that will allow the light to come through the shade in order to light the area in a room. I hope this helps.
That is a good question. Dave said the secret to limiting the use of primer of various sorts is by using 100% acrylic paint that is designed for the outdoors. The flexibility, binding ability and fade resistance is quite good. Surfaces that have limited tooth( very smooth surfaces usually need a binding agent ( primer ). A belt might need to be primed because of the way it is being bent a lot...but more importantly is how thick the paint is being applied. Thin coats is key...and curing time of two days between each layer is to proper way to to it...unlike the corners Dave says he cuts a lot. LOL We hope this helps.
All of these projects were amazing but that black ruffle skirt 😍😍😍…I mean wow🫶🏼🖤🔥thank you for sharing.
Thank you💕💕💕

These look like things I'd upcycle in the 70s
Nice to hear others upcycling these types of clothes. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

@@HeatherandDave thank you for the answer💓☺️ I wish you a beautiful day too.
Love the wedge shoes!!
What type paint did you use for the pink??❤
Thank you. Acrylic paint for the shoes.
I noticed when Heather tried on the shoes the stretchy part of the shoe was stretched out a lot. How are you going to fix that part of the shoe?
Although the stretchy part of the shoe was stretched a lot...when I wore them around the store they did not feel loose. When Dave painted them...it tightened the straps slightly. If needed, Dave will use a glue that can shorten the straps without notice. Hope you are having a beautiful day.
Dave, I want to paint a lampshade with acrylics. Would you recommend using the textile medium. If so, what's it called?
Dave do you ever put primer first on an item? Like a belt or a purse
When you say exterior paint, do you mean just regular house paint?@@HeatherandDave
Add some vibrant yellow to your pink paint
That would make a nice orange. Thank you
Depends on what yellow and how much you add
The video has no sound.
You might have to adjust your volume controls. Hope you are having a really nice day.
