That was my first time being part of an episode and I really should have tried either hybrid drift or inside drift cuz I got absolutely BODIED 😂 - MrMelon
karts are so viable in retro rewind it's amazing. of course bikes are still the meta but you can still easily come out on top with a kart, which i believe makes the game much more enjoyable.
I agree, it’s not completely balanced but it damn sure does close the gap considerably to where it’s hit or miss on either and that’s the beauty of retro rewind ❤️
Hey Troy! Glad I was finally able to play with you and Nick in a Flounderfest episode! It's been a dream of mine since i started watching y'all years ago! I got last place but I'm bad at karts so its to be expected. Also that was my green shell at 39:45 GGs fellas!
@JacobRobergeQC that we did! I feel like I should get style points for using Jetsetter for the first couple races, I got 3rd on Broken Pier and RR, and I beat Troy and Nick a few times.
@@OutlawRunnerSDC Gotta respect that lol. The first few races, I tried a couple things cuz I didn't know what would work for me. Troy pointed out "hey, we got a flame flyer here", he had no idea how much I suffered that race 😅
25:30: One of the cruelest things I've ever seen happen in any race. Troy gets hit by 2 red shells in a row causing just enough post-hit lag for the POW Block to deny him his chance to use his mushroom upon recovery. Hope you're okay after that Troy! Have you no soul, Nick?
Got first place with randomised vehicles and outside drift gp1, didn't expect that to be honest! Went inside drift gp2 thinking it'd be better for karts... how wrong I was about that :p
I’ve been a hybrid drift karter for months and it’s extremely powerful in the right hands. I’ve lagged certain shortcuts to be possible with outside drift hybrid drift (you can do every bike shortcut on GBA rainbow road)
this is super fun! thank you Troy for hosting the fun room, im soo happt you still play Mario Kart Wii after all these years, Much love bro may you achive all of your life goals bro thank you for my teen hood Troy i ow it to you ❤
Outside drift on Hybrid is absolutely insane since it still turns just as tight. Purple miniturbos are nerfed on inside drift, and they go like 10kmh faster on outside drift. I'd honestly say it makes karts like the mini beast better than flame runner on specific tracks where there aren't too many long straightaways.
I saw a video recently showing that inside drift makes karts perform worse overall since that makes it more difficult and take more time to squeeze out SMTs. Plus the sway of outside drift also allows for snaking on straightaways. Not to mention that there are techniques you can do to drift more tightly like re-drifting (you start and stop a drift, then you immediately perform another drift to take a line more tightly than normal, an important tactic for something like DK’s Jungle Parkway’s landing pad after the ramp).
Nick popped off this episode! Also I think either Splatoon 3 or Melee have the best movement but I’m leaning towards splatoon 3 since that game introduced the squid roll and it made a game series with already great movement feel even better
Best movement game for me has to be in no particular order: Ghostrunner, Titanfall, or Warframe. Ghostrunner all around is at it's core a movement game so it makes sense to me that it'd feel as good as it does with movement. Titanfall 2 is also a really good one with a modified version of source engine and extremely passionate devs to thank for it's increadible movement. Warframe doesn't have the same kind of movement tech that Titanfall 2 has an is more simplistic I'd say, but you can definitially get a lot more speed than either of the previous games especially with Nezha or Gauss. Not to mention bullet jumping as a movement option and some frames having either a 2nd bullet jump to allow for 3 jumps or a grappling hook aswell as a variety of other options depending on the frame you use. Honorable mention for me would probably be Armored Core 6 simply because while it may not have as many options as other games that're more focused on movement and also aren't mech games, the kind of momentum you can gain with lighter and faster builds aswell as how much you'll move during fights has a certain feelimg to it you won't get in any other game. Also the inverse jointed leg options not only let you move faster but they even have a unique kick to them where you dropkick forward so that can allow you to have a faster lunge towards an enemy than a normal kick and as a result they were always our go to legs when we could make them work. If I was limited to Nintendo games I'd say Splatoon 3, and if I was limited to Mario games I'd say Odyssey because I never played 64 and from what I've heard it feels like a modernized version of it.
30:19 Been playing a ton of Rivals 2 recently. Coming from Smash Ultimate, and having tried Project M and Melee before I was so blown away by how comfortably you can control your Character in the game.
I would love to see you try hybrid on bikes! I think it might be better because it lets you turn in wheelie without loosing speed, and lets you drift sharp. But I’m not sure if it’s actually better cause I’m not that good to tell lol
I'd say Super Mario Odyssey has the best controls in any game of all time (literally the best thing the game has) as Mario with Cappy brings a lot of possibilities of movement, both vertical and horizontal, having a great set of possibilities to do. (Although Mario controls in Odyssey are great, I like more SM64 as a game overall)
It's better for bikes too on the correct tracks. Having the auto benefit of not losing speed while turning in a wheelie is inherently broken for bikes.
I like retro rewind but s9me tracks look REALLY Bad like Tokyo blur. Also is there a way so im not stuck on 200cc and 500cc is there a way i can just play normally cc’s like 150
