I want to say thank you for this impressively clean cover. I've spent probably 30 hours learning this song, helped in large part by your cover here. Thanks a lot!
This is awesome and I'm using it to learn the song :). The way I play this song, is that for some reason I play a crash on beat 2 in the chorus and 32nd notes on the snare during the bridge with crashes on quarter notes
Dude, I love this song! I can't believe I'm barely seeing your cover of this. Super clean, man! I gotta step my RUclips game back up and start posting again.
Thank you for sharing this cover, you played it skillfully and in-the-pocket. I will be playing this one in church this Sunday and along with my drum chart and your video it should make learning it easy. I usually get these kind of comments on my drum covers, and so it's nice to be on the other side. Quality audio mix between the backing track and your drums. Keep drumming!!!
Great cover! It's funny watching your ride slowly coming unscrewed. Lol. It's funny when you notice stuff like that when you are playing live, and you are thinking to your self "please don't fall off, just hold out until I have a free hand so I can fix you". Haha, again great job. Oh yeah your kit sounds great also .
Hey man! I've been checking out your covers for about a year now, and I must say that this is one of my favourites. Not only because of the technicality, but also because I'm really digging the fact that you did a gospel song! Keep on rocking that PDP kit budd! All the best, Robert :)
Your kick sounds great man! Can you give some details? Kinds of heads? Batter and reso? Mic? It sounds very defined, nice thud, sounds like a lot of muffling. Do you use pillow, blankets? Thanks man! Great job
Hey man awesome cover!!!! I was just wondering on how you get the audio without the drums to create your covers. That's the only thing holding me back from making my own! Please help me!!
No one gets drumless tracks for covers. Your best bet is to EQ out all of the low end from 200hz down out of the original track. That'll give you room for your drums to cut through.
Thanks! Two more questions. What kind of pillow? Is it a big pillow or the black one that came with the PDP kit? Also, how far into the bass drum do you put the pic? Do you lay it on the pillow or on a stand? Thanks man!
No problem! I use the black one that came with the pdp kit. And I put the mic on a stand and put it a couple inches into the bass drum pointed directly at the beater
Awesome, as do I! I did notice that as I browsed more of your videos. So cool to come across a musician who is using his skills for God's glory :) The Gardiner Sisters brought me!
you sound great! I did a cover of this song too, but it got flagged for copyright. Did you have any similar issues with this cover? How did you resolve it?
Hey I really have been enjoying your covers. Would you want to do a collab? I have a channel very similar to this in style and quality. I think it'd be very good for both of our channels, we could grow our audience. If you're interested feel free to PM me with a song or idea etc. Cheers!
That took me a while to get right, especially when playing it live. You have to hold back until the right time else or you will be full out for 4 bridges without anywhere to go. I usually keep it pretty low until the last bridge.. For this song, doing it the same as the track never really worked as well for me.
So there are 4 bridges in total, how he does it on the track is.. Bridge 1 - No drums Bridge 2 - Quarter notes on the kick Bridge 3 - 8th notes between kick and snare Bridge 4 - 16th notes between kick and snare ...Pretty simple. Usually what I'll do is change up bridge 3 and 4 to keep it from getting old, and it gives it a lot more dynamics. Usually what I'll do for the 3rd bridge is.. 8th notes on the kick, (like the track) except I'll do a pattern on the floor tom, so that way I still have room to build it up for the fourth bridge. For the fourth bridge, I'll come in with the snare doing 8th notes for the first half, and then do 16th notes all around for the last half. As a personal preference I generally keep all 16th notes on the kick to the last few measures, just because having the kick going constantly for a long time is pretty annoying from the audiences prospective, especially if its loud. The basic idea is finding different things to do to gradually build it, without doing the same thing over and over.
+Hat Guy nice! There's actually a part in the build where there's 16th notes on the bass drum and no snare at all, just hi hat/cymbals. I think it sounds pretty cool
I think that's at the end of the build..right? He uses some really awesome Istanbul cymbals that really fill up the room, so if he wanted he could probably do the whole build on cymbals and it would sound really good! For me I've always had to do something a bit different from the track on almost any song, just to fit the band that I'm playing with and the room that I'm in. But you know, I've always enjoyed dissecting a song and making up different parts :)
Make the exact same face when I play this song. I'm a bass player and that groove is too good!

Hey bro how do you put music on a cover without getting a copyright notice from RUclips?
It might be, because bethel do not mind someone putting a cover up. As far as I know they have no vevo channel
How did u get a drum less track I can't find any!?
He may have gotten the stems and subtracted the drums.
Love how you do this bare foot😂

Gotcha! I think I played exactly what was in the original mp3. What would you have done differently?
