I have a missal from 1946. I bought it at an antiques fair and paid 37 dollars for it. It is in good condition..

I found a copy bound in red leather at a thrift store with the little tabs and I dont think it has missing pages. They sold it for 2 dollars, honestly I feel like I found a treasure.

Great find, but this Missale Romanum is not from the Middle Ages and is not Medieval. This is an edition that was issued in the early-20th Century during the reign of Pope Benedict XV. It is all set forth in Latin on the title page. Unfortunately, this missal could not be used in the celebration of a Latin (Tridentine) Mass today as the only edition authorized for use would be the 1962 edition. Another interesting observation... that brownish-yellow rectangular square that is on the first page of the Canon is where the name of the "current" pope (in Latin) was taped so the celebrant would pronounce it correctly. I remember seeing this "rectangular piece of tape" on that page when I was an altar boy serving the Latin Mass. In your missal, the piece of tape with the papal name is long gone, but the yellowing caused by the tape is still there..... I have actually seen and looked at a Missale Romanum from the 1600's that was in the Rare Book Room at a college library in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

You are Correct. However this Missal was codified by Pius V in the 1500s and is based very closely to the Mass of Gregory the Great. Although this particular missal is not from the Middle Ages, the Latin manuscript (the Canon Missae) that is reprinted in there by the Benzinger Brothers was passed down through the Middle Ages. The title of the video is misleading in that sense. Many of the priests that I MC for do pre-55 liturgy so this Missal can be used. It can also be used for most 1962 Masses other than certain octaves, vigils, and Holy Week because the priest just has to add St Joseph’s name when reciting the Canon.
