K-9 thunder is an excellent piece of weaponry, no wonder many countries have taken a keen interest on acquiring it. Should the philippines acquire them? Yes, by all means, that is, if we can afford it. The Atmos 2000 is priced around $ 4 to $ 5 million dollars per unit while the K-9 costs $ 15 million dollars upwards. (not exactly sure about the actual price, different articles have different details on K-9's tag price)
Equipped only with about 60 units of 155mm howitzers(towed & sph/self propelled howitzers) in total, the philippine army is in real need of more of these artillery weapon system. There's just too few to go around. Based on an estimated strength of between 5 to 8 divisions, (1 division= 10,000 to 15,000 troops) the philippine army has only about less than 10 units of 155mm howitzers(towed & self propelled howitzers) per division, which is really, really few. Of course ammunition is a essential too.
