2012 and up - Program or Activate or program new BMW Proximity key

- Your key has to be pre-coded.
Make sure that this key is facing with the tip of the proximity remote toward the spot on the steering column where it shows key with two arrow marks.
*Hold proxy key to the steering column between the marks.
*Press and Hold brake pedal.
*Press and Hold push start button.
**If the car started right away then we good to go just check the remote for functionality.
*** If on dash show "crossed key" - keep applying brake with your foot, holding the key against that same spot and at the same time just press and hold start button again for a second time(for 5 more seconds) - it should recognize the key this time!
And if it still didn't go thru ... repeat for another couple of times.
Usually, it will take one or two times.
Then you are done.

You, sir, my good man, is the only one who _shows_ how the programming is done in action. I was told by the dealer and then watched probably five or six other videos and still could not program my new remote, because all the other videos are all talk, zero action. I was going to go back to my dealer and ask them what's up. But I was able to program my new key fob at the first try after watching your video. A HUGE thumbs up!

Spoke to the dealers that sold us a replacement key for 20 minutes. They were useless. Couldn't get new key to work. Tried other videos and they were rubbish. This was perfect. Worked first time. Thank you.

Thank you soooo much! Just performed this procedure for my mother’s car because I sure wasn’t gonna let her use my car. It worked the first time and it all happened in less than 30 seconds. Side note: the music was very annoying and made it difficult to hear you. Perhaps try lowering the volume of the music when adding it to the video.

It works on my f20 manual.
I have 2 keys, one works, another one didn’t.
First use the working one to unlock the car door;
Second, put the working key far away from the car, to let the car cannot sense it, I put around 50 meters away.
Third, go back to the car with the non working key, do the same as the video said, manual car use clutch pedal instead of brake.
Forth, the non working key will be accepted by the car.

Dalhoumi Ayoub it needs to be programmed before it will work. You can get it programmed at your dealership you will need your vin number and registration information

Greetings from Brazil. Saved my life on a 2015 Mini Cooper 1.5! The key was not working to open/close the doors. Ignition was ok, if putting the fob besides the steering column.

Can I program a new key fob without having the old keyfobs. I bought a replacement from a dealership, they took my vin and said that it will be "programmed" and to just do as this video says.
Almost right. One very important step is missing. After you have unlocked the car, before you place the new key fob against the marks, remove the original key a long way from the car or the car will simply start when you press the start/stop button and not program the new key. One other thing, if you have a manual transmission car, place you foot on the clutch not the brake.

Just go to the dealer. This does not work as people are saying. Wasted my money on an OEM fob and now the dealer won’t touch it. If I only would have gone to the dealer to start. What a waste. Very important info that this guy does tell you is that you fob has to be programmed to your car by the dealer or other auto locksmith before you can sync it. Don’t waste your money on the fobs you see online.

Thanks for your wonderful video. I have a 2012 528i without comfort access that was bought with only one key which I also recently lost/misplaced. I have a new key that I ordered through dealer I'm picking up tomorrow. My question is, can I program the new key without the old one? Will the car start? In your video I don't see that you mention anything about the old key fob, however, I'm getting mixed answers from dealers and forums online. Some suggest in order for the car to start, you need the old key on you. Your response/suggestion would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Locksmith did replace it they priced me over $400! I was like wow price is high but I have no choice I paid it

@@konstantintemin6105 and my car still issues of system it and later my car went to the BMW says you have another replacement for new key because other company in our system and BWM must remove to LOCKSMITH it and put into my system for only the BWM system (suck locksmith)
@@locoxmano you are incorrect.... locksmith has no same wallet as the dealer... so your diag by dealer is crap. I will still rely on your locksmith yet than the dealer. They do not fix but replace. Therefore they told you about your key guy. Smh

This remote is preprogrammed, you are just syncing it to the car.

I am having the following trouble, my key fob wont lock the car at all, i have changed the key fob battery and still no luck. Strange 2 things is,
1. it does allow me to still start/drive/stop the car.
2. I can not lock the car with the manual metal key either.

When i try this, my car just starts without issues. But the car won't recognize the key until I touch the column with it. I replaced the battery and still the same thing. Are there any other suggestions?

Mechanical key will operate the mechanical part of the lock... But will have no ability to start the vehicle.

It will not. Because the key need to have some value on it in order to be synced.

As long as this key was ordered from dealer that should work. Otherwise this requires programming by professional locksmith.
Can I take any BMW f30 key fob to do this...... or it must be clean, not precoded/preprogrammed before to any other car? A friend of mine has f30 and so have I. Can I code his key fob into my car?

Troubleshoot - Check your battery 🔋 first of all. Charge should be above +3v preferably.

This key was ready to be synchronized with the vehicles computer... the process here shows you how to sync it and marry to the system of the vehicle which was coded on the key to be able to do what you see here. It wasn't blank I hope it answers your question.

If the key is empty of value this video is not for you. Otherwise information of the vehicle should be written and stored and only then you can sync it with the vehicle as it shows in this video.

Same as long as your key came pre ordered.
It's not that this key can be synced like the one you buy from ebay or other platforms .. this key has its information written previously and now it's just a syncing process of the key.

Not working. I did try in 2 BMW ‘12 535i and the other 535i and nothing. Maybe this key that you programmed was already programmed from the dealer and what you did was syncing.

The customer bought the key from the dealer, not programmed not cut. I just programmed the 2012 BMW 535i with mini ACDP, without problem. I tried with your version, it didn’t work.
At the second step when you press the button and the car starts, in my situation I had a message “hold the remote close to steering column....” something like that.
@@alberts7061 bought from dealer?... that would work as shown... I dont think this was provided by the dealer then. Uncut and probably not synced to the vin... you sure he got it from dealer (or third source...?)

Yes, he said that. When I used vvdi key tool to check it it showed VIN ******* not learned.
I don’t what to say, maybe he bought it somewhere else. But the pcb was OEM not Chinese.

Cristoforo I dont think you going to be able to sync it without programmer itself... unless its chip already locked to the vehicle by vin... this process shows vehicle and key synchronization - meaning this key is locked to the car from the beginning. I hope it helps
