Bring back the neon signs! They are works of art. Beautiful. 🎨
I agree bring back the neon
Wow never seen that one
Wow cool shop
Wow cool big boy
The neon boneyard hotel casino resort museum in Las Vegas is very cool as well. I must go see this some day too.
Congratulations to Annabelle on her graduation!! Such a surreal time in life.
The sign museum is so much fun! Thanks for bringing back good memories!
I do miss the bright neon signs that used to light the way to the hotel's at night.
Best wishes to your daughter on her graduation.
love my city and i love you thanks for always showing Cincy love!!!
Dang I always miss you when you're in my hometown
Definitely remember the Casanos sign “in the wild”.
I like the regular Big Boy mascot. Congratulations to your daughter on her graduation!!!!
Holy crap Jacob, I didn't imagine you had a grown up daughter. So happy for her congratulations. Also to her proud father.😊
Congratulations to Anna!!!🎓 I wish her all the best for her future!! Hope you enjoyed celebrating with the family Jacob!
❤❤❤❤ old neon signs, miss em
Truly a hidden gem in Cincy. Very neat place to visit!
Congratulations to your daughter, and God Bless~
I remember trying Bubble Up. Couldn't have been all that memorable, because I remember trying SunDrop, which I still drink, and Dr. Pepper which really got my attention, probably in 1960.
I actually like both of the Big boys, although I grew up with Marc's.
That Holiday Inn made me nostalgic. On our annual road trip to Florida, we would generally stay at either Holiday Inn or Howard Johnson's. Just the sight of it brought back so many childhood memories and put a smile on my face that I suspect will last the rest of the day. Oh, and did you tune into WKRP when you were in Cincinnati?😐
My father-in-law was one of the sign installers that originally installed Metrobot and also helped in the refurbishment.
Such a lovely video! Thank you Mr Carpetbagger 😊
The current team is the Cincinnati Reds. The original team was the Cincinnati Red Stockings, named for their long red socks, which were a novelty at the time.
Always enjoy your stuff, thanks for making it
Those clouds look sooo surreal!
Congrats to your daughter Jacob
Wow! I can't believe that Annabelle is graduating high school. 😊 Congratulations to her and you! 🎓🎓
Happy it all worked out in getting your car back! Safe travels.
That museum is amazing. All that neon! ♥
Signs Signs Everywhere there's Signs 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Congrats daughter bagger!! Good Luck in your future endeavors!
fun fact: the cincinnati 'sign' gardens sign came from the old cincinnati gardens arena that closed its doors in 2013 and ended up being demoshiled in 2018. It was a former home to the Cincinnati Royals our first and only NBA team and also hosted concerts from greats like Elvis, the Jackson 5, Madonna, The Grateful Dead and many others too being that it was one of our more prolific venues from the 50s until the 2000s!
And the Beatles
Adding when the Who played here..Home town of Kroger, P&G and Macy's..Cincinnati is exceptional. Born & raised here, I remember alot of these signs when they hung on the businesses.Welcome back to our fair town. We love to have you.
Awesome sign museum!
Cincinnati has alot to offer
I knew you'd enjoy having your car back I know everybody else I'm glad to see you too just hope you have a great and wonderful day today
Congratulations Anna! 👩🎓👩🎓
37:26 Happy face cloud on the upper right holding a thumbs up
Being a senior from Cincinnati, I recognize many of the signs. I've never been to this museum. You've inspired me to visit! Thanks!
Jacob the carpetbagger that phone was freaky Crazy as hell ringing by it self that was nuts😂
You have a great voice in museums, very calming and interested in all😊
OMG I LOVED VISITING THIS PLACE
Jacob, you ate the best. Everything you choose to show is new and refreshing. Not the same old, same old.
Enjoyed replay thanks for sharing your channel 😀 👍🏼 😊
LONG LIVE NEON!!!
At that time, the Reds were known as the Cincinnati Red Socks, hence the red socks on the player. Cassanos is still in business and is the favorite in my family and my friends as well!
That mural with the baseball player is from the Cincinnati reds
I love the Holiday Inn sign too!
Personal favorite for me... The Gross Hardware hammer from Columbus, Indiana...my hometown 😊
Congrats to your kid❤
Awesome neon signs Jacob, it was neat 👍 like that one sign call Gross hardware lol. Thanks for sharing 🙏🤓
I absolutely love neon signage and miss it so dearly.
The Cincinnati Reds is the team in the mural.
A troll phone...on a robots ankle. lol
I guess that is pretty cute and funny honestly. lol
I like the neon signs, I always wanted neon/bulb signs in my home back then when I was a kid.
Because it seemed cool, to own vintage signs when I was younger back in the early 2000s.
I love you, man.
Congratulations to your daughter! Glad you are back in your car!
Arby's/ RB is for Raffel Brothers. The founders. The sound of the lights flickering sounds like the Shining lol.
THECARPETBAGGER 🚗💨💨💨💨
Congrats to your Daughter 🎓🏅
Cool signs!
I'm so glad you finally got your car back! I really enjoyed this video! Thank you for taking me to places I don't think I will ever be able to personally go to myself!
Good to see you in my home state of Ohio. I prefer Frisch’s Big Boy. Miss it now that I live in Florida. They are building a Skyline Chilli close by. I never been to this Museum. Didn’t even know it was in Cincinnati. Lol Thank you for the video! O-H-I-O 😊
Love your videos you’re the best
Always!enjoy your videos❤ omg I can see things places that I never would have. Thank you 💕
Hey Jacob! You mentioned the last Howard Johnsons restaurant in Lake George. I used to eat there all the time with my family while we were on vacation in Lake George, I was sad to see it close after all those years. I'd love to see you head back to Lake George soon and see what's new there. Also you could make an amazing video on the history of the French and Indian War and visit Fort William Henry. Also the movie "The Last of the Mohicans" took place all around Lake George (not filmed there) but real events took place there. And they do ghost tours!
"Signs of the times," for sure! Nice coverage! Great info! They should bring neon back!
Nice, thanks, love neon it's an art and in my opinion is beautiful.
All of the neon signs were amazing. I wish they would bring them back. I am so glad you finally got your car back. You certainly went through an ordeal with that car situation. Also, send my congratulations to your beautiful daughter on her graduation. Enjoy your time with your family.
I have such a soft spot for ol' timey neon. Fie to fake neon LED strips!
That street was so cool💫😽💞
Now after the ringing phone, when you go back to your hotel, if the phone rings, be aware. Run! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the graduation.
Congratulations Anna an best wishes
Brian from Northeast Ohio 👍👍👍👍
This was FUN. Living in rural Addison County Vermont, I don’t get to see a lot of neon or fancy lighted signs like that. We tend to lean towards simple wooden signs around here…unless your talking a chain Gas station, grocery store or fast food restaurant. Since most non chain stores are closed by dinnertime around here, many signs are BARELY lit at all. 😅
Cincinnatian, here... Habig's was one of my favorite signs from childhood! Papa Dino's Pizza was so delicious! I knew these businesses! Good times.
The Mural is in a neighborhood called "Camp Washington"...hince, Washington in campy drag...
I live in Cincinnati, and I remember many of the signs you showed from the Cincinnati area.
Habigs Home Cooking was a great place to eat so many good memories
Enjoy spending time with family this weekend. Annabelle's graduation is a big deal. Just be a proud Daddy and let her know how much you love her ❤️
This was so neat❤
Yeah I love the signs. U like them
Enjoy your family time 💖💖💖 Congratulations to Annabelle 🎈 and smooth sailing at college 😺
Hi, Jacob! 👋 That mural reminds me of Norman Rockwell. Great video, as always!
guy in the background as the payphone rings "yeah it does that but aint nobody gonna say nothing"
he was tryin help ya jacob lol
You should have gone to camp Washington Chili! It's near the Sign Museum. It's far better than Gold Star or Skyline. Bubble Up was my favorite lemon-lime soda used to be quite popular in the area.
I love me some Camp Washington Chili. I recommended the same thing to him in a comment I made. The local chili places are fantastic.
@drewo6388 The local places are so much better than GS or Skyline!
YOU"RE IN MY HOMETOWN JACOB!!!! hope we treat you right I know we will also hope you go to Kings island soon!!!!!! I'm a Skyline guy through and through but both are perfect and congrats on your daughter graduating enjoy your family time STAY SAFE PLEASE!!!!!!
Isn't it awesome. I like to get little museums like this out there so they get more business cuz they're kind of not on the beaten path.
There is a RUclips video out there where a couple rented the building at night and have their wedding
there!
When I was a kid in the sixties when were on vacation the holiday inn sign was a beacon the night... that my dad would drive right by and we would stay at the crappy hotel down the road
What a great thing to remember I love memories like that
I wish businesses still displayed vintage signs like these. I mean why not?
Some towns won't allow businesses to display them. There are two rather wealthy towns not far from me and unfortunately the stuffed shirts on the town council with their noses turned up decided to ban businesses from using neon because they argue that "it cheapens the atmosphere and creates a negative ambiance". In order to get a sign permit the sign must be non-neon. It really sucks because the neon signs are beautiful.
I like the running big boy because I would like to think he is running that hamburger straight to me!
I do love signage, I grew up spending a lot of time around Coastal towns that used lots and lots of lit signage on their main strips.
Neon is acctually making a bit of a comeback although a lot of it is the faux kind where its diffused LEDs (I've got a couple of examples myself) which look similar but are a bit more sturdy and less power hungry.
I’m amazed with neon signs. I had a garage full of them. Thanks for this episode
My dad was in neon sign dealing and installation when I was a teen. I loved going to work with him and watching the signs light up
I find it interesting the random things I remember as a child. Once my Dad took me with him to a place that made or repaired neon signs in Atlanta As a very young child it was a place of great curiosity. I remember it having a weird glow from all the different colors being worked. I was not allowed to touch anything 😄 - Great video Jacob
Congratulations Anna 👏🎉 😺 Great video Jacob 🌟 the phone in the robot is such a fun idea🤖📞😂 I am going to use that word " confusement" it's awesome 🙌😸 Thanks Jacob 🙏💝😻
3:18 Cincinnati Red Stockings was the old Major League Baseball team in the late 1800s or last half of the 19th century, which would later become the Cincinnati Reds. There is even a Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum next door to the ballpark they play at.
22:35 Jungle Jims market and Cracker Barrel restaurants usually have Bubble Up.
My home town. Suders Art store in the neon section is where I purchased my art supplies. The newest addition on the outside of the building is what was displayed on the recently torn down Cincinnati Gardens in March 2018, where several professional sports were played and many famous bands and singers performed.
The one in Vegas is awesome as well 😊
Great place! Lots to do around there
On the Howard Johnsons sign the boy is ""Simple Simon", the baker is "The Pie-man". From the old nursery rhyme called Simple Simon that went, "Simple Simon met a Pie-man going to the fair, said Simple Simon to the Pie-mam "let me taste your wares". Said the Pie-man to Simple Simon "are you going to pay??". Said Simple Simon "of course I have none".... There are at least 4 other verses but this is all I can recall right now.
In my hometown there is still a tobacco ad painting on the side of a brick building.
I love this!! No wonder you have people hating on you!!! Your videos are AMAZING!!!! 😊❤ All the places you go to, are AWESOME!!
The McDonalds sign came from Huntsville, Alabama, I used to see that sign all of the time when we lived there.
The baseball team is the Cincinnati Reds and I am pretty sure Spanky's is a restaurant, Great job as always Jacob
How I remember a lot of these signs
That big bear was for the Big Bear Department stores. They went out of business in the early 2000s. And Cassano's pizza is amazing. They are Dayton staple, so if you visit the Dayton area, get a small pie to try.
They had some amazing old sign's. Enjoy your daughter's graduation🎓🎉 and some family time.
So happy to see your in the road again ^^ hope you're newly fixed car stay safe to get you where you need to get to also when your back in New Jersey there some great spots to eat here ^^
5:23 Spanky`s was a pizza parlor named after Spanky of Our Gang/Little Rascals. We had one in our town back in the 80`s
its always fun to watch were you go i love it
