Something, the Universe, exists, and part of it, Mankind, is dissatisfied with it. We are part of the Universe and clueless as to what this Universe is all about and why It brought us into being, offered us a glimpse of what happiness could feel like, and then pushes us back into nothingness...That sounds like a very cruel thing to do.
Existence has always seemed to me both a tragedy and a miracle. Imagine it arising from nothing, or existing without beginning. And after all that, introducing to its inhabitants inevitable suffering and death. Quite the one-two punch.
Best known for his description of the world as "A chaos at feast". Both Zapffe and Mainlander have been translated into the English language in 2024. Hopefully, we will get a translation of Bahnsen's aphorisms. Thomas Ligotti discussed all three in his book The Conspiracy Against the Human Race. A contemporary thinker that I hope you will discuss.
An ex-girlfriend of mine once described me as tragi-comic! Not very flattering but think this could be applied to human life in general, as someone once said life is a tragedy to those who feel but a comedy to those who think!
Finally finished it.. over and over I see that Westerners come upon some truths that were already mentioned in the vedas and gitas, whether by ignorance or facetiousness, they always neglect to mention the origins of their ideas. eg Humor, a well known analogy shows the real self as a watcher of the movie screen of his own life, laughing at the absurdity of it all... when the atman is done with the show he throws his popcorn away and washes his hands..

Life is a waste when all we wish for is the end of it, suffering and pain destroy the experience which is why some of us long for the end of it

My fast-forward finger is getting tired... I'll find the actual content once I strip it to the bone..

Could really do without the background music. Distracting and adds no value.
If you are an atheist you might like this. Most of the observations are banal that any mature adult would know.

Even our AI sucks here 😕.
