Hi Mina, always love your videos ! 💕 Hope you enjoyed your stay in Germany, I live near Cologne and was so happy to see you enjoying the Christmas markets with Mommy Oh here ! Take care and safe travels ! 🇩🇪🇵🇭
Aloha Mina & Mommy O ! Hello Darlings ! I just Love your vlogs ! Beautiful Christmas Markets in Germany ! Delicious wines & good foods ! Amazing Christmas decorations !
Oh I'm so happy! Not only did you visit Germany but Köln! I grew up in a village right between Cologne and Bonn so I've been to most markets you visited as well even if it has been many years since. My personal favorites in cologne are definetley the Heumarkt christmast market and I personally really enjoy Neumarkt as well. The market right at the cathedral can be an impressive sight but the market itself is too touresty for me. As a child we usually went to a smaller town near cologne called Bornheim so that market has the most nostalgic value to me. Cologne and Germany overall has really nice museums as well that you would 100% enjoy theres one in the backround of your video that I think you'd love its right at the cathedrral which has pop- abstract- and surealism art and has one of the largest picasso collections in europe. So i think that would be right up your ally.
Thank you for sharing your insights and letting us know about your nostalgic Christmas Market in Bornheim ❤ Mommy Oh and I visited Museum Ludwig and you're right: we loved it! The museum architecture was amazing too 🤩
Another tip: On January 6th, 2023, the season of the "Swabian Almanian Fasnacht" begins in Southwest Germany and ends on February 22nd, 2023. In the Black Forest, Upper Swabia, Swabian Alb, Upper Rhine, Lake Constance and also in Switzerland and parts of Austria there are many "Carnival parades" on the often very beautiful medieval towns. For example in the city of Rottweil (yes the dog breed comes from there). Just look on the internet at "Schwäbisch Allemanische Fasnacht" there you will find out the dates and the background of this tradition.
Hello from Cologne! I'm glad you enjoyed your time here 😊 Sadly, this wasn't Heavenue - the past years that's where it was but this year the bank that owns the square did not rent it out to them. Usually it has a lot of really fun stalls, a stage with live acts and a huge pink Christmas tree! Have a look at pictures of previous years, it was so fun!
really liked the video, i live in cologne so im very happy you enjoyed your stay and all the food, i would like to add one thing, at around minute six, reibekuchen and kartoffelpufer are the exact same thing so either name fits fine :)
yes! your were finally in germany! i have been watching your channels since 2013 for learning korean and getting to know Korea before my first trip (KWOW and the snacktub series really kept my interest in learning high and i learnt a lot about Seoul before first going there! 정말 감사합니다) and have been waiting for your comments on my home country ever since! 독일에 환연합니다 미스 미나! 그리고 새해 복 많이 받으세요 미나랑 마미 오에게!
Annyeong Mina, my wife and I have been watching your channel since 2016. We will finally be vacationing in Seoul at the end of April. It's nice to see that you're also here in Germany. The Christmas market in Dresden is highly recommended! lg
Thank you so much for posting a long video with mummy oh can’t wait to watch so excited,,,, keep posting long vids with mummy oh, I get so excited to watch them, ❤️❤️😘 I wish you all the best in the future
Omg Mina you were in my city! Sad I didn't see you :). Christmas here in Cologne is gorgeous even if I don't celebrate it. Glad you got to experience it.
Hi Mina! Thanks for always posting so many amazing travel videos! I love your helpful tips and hope to use them when I travel as well! Especially those from your other channel SweetandTastyTV, since it's a dream to go to South Korea one day! I hope you'll post more on that channel when you're able to go back to South Korea!
Oh wow, the food looks so good here! I think I'd choose Cologne's Christmas markets over Strasbourg's Christmas markets if I ever went myself :) Looking forward to seeing what you've been getting up to in Europe outside of the Christmas markets too!
13:31 I saw it thihi :3 I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in Germany/Cologne. I am from Germany but I never visited the christmas market there :o It is so much bigger than the ones where I live. Maybe I should give it a try^^'
My favorite Christmas market is in Nurnberg. We managed to snag a room at a boutique, very German old hotel that happened to be within the castle grounds. And the gluhwein was so varied because at the time, representatives of all countries of the world participated in their own take on it.
How come the YT algorithm has led me stumbling upon your YT channel this late? Your Mom is adorably wonderful as she reminds me so much of my own. So please, give her a big, big hug coming from a German...... ❤
Great episode as always . I'm going try making those apple donuts tomorrow they look awesome. And I'm really excited about north spores mushrooms I asked for Christmas wish me luck . Worried it -37 here. Thank you for the mushroom explanation and experience from previous episodes 😊
The white grilled sausage must have been Thüringer Bratwurst. Bavarian Weißwurst is always brewed/cooked, never grilled and definetly thicker and shorter than the Thüringer ones😊 And the 3€ for the mulled wine cup is usually a deposit, too. The customer can always decide to just keep the cup as a memento or return it and get their deposit back, usually at any stall that sells drinks around the market. Deposit is normally between 2-3€ -- just enough money to motivate even drunk customers to return the cups intact as stalls have to pay the market organizer for them too and you can imagine what kind of bother it becomes when customers won't return their cup or even break/chip it and u have to go out into the busy market and get new baskets of cups during rush hour times. Some customers (mostly older and regular ones) even leave their cups around the stall for the workers to collect and keep the deposit as a tip -- would always get excited when that would happen🤫💝
That's so nice to see you in my hometown Köln enjoying our Christmas markets and its delicacies. We Colonians love our Christmas markets very much. Sometimes the mulled wine is too sweet and the wine is sometimes not of best quality but I'm happy to see that you had yours from a good place and as far as I can tell you enjoyed your stay in Köln. Never ever I would have thought you'd come down all the way from overseas to my hometown. Happy New Year to you and to Mommy Oh. 🤗
Wow I miss my hometown, it's not nearly as Christmassy in San Francisco. Thank you for visiting Cologne and sharing it with me (hang on, it's not all about me?) ;) Schöne Weihnachten. (Next time get in touch and I'll give you a German lesson covering keywords...)
I live so close to Germany (I’m Swedish and live about an hour by car from a ferry to Kiel) and I still haven’t visited Germany other than flight transfers in Frankfurt or Munich… I do need to try to go to a Christmas market in Germany sometime because they look amazing! Chimney cake is amazing! It’s Hungarian if I remember it right, I’ve had it at a travel and tourism exhibition that used to be held annually in Gothenburg up until some years ago (internet kinda killed it I guess) and many countries would be there with brochures, little advertisement trinkets (like pens and such) and some countries would even cook or bake traditional foods in their exhibit, chimney cake was one of the things you could try (and buy) there. I always bought chimney cake with cinnamon sugar when it was available, it is just so crazy good! I have access to a bakery about an hours drive away that makes chimney cake but sadly haven’t had the chance to buy chimney cake from them because they only make it certain days and I was in that town on the wrong day, but did buy another cake there which was very yummy. And yes, the easiest way to eat chimney cake is to just unravel a piece of it and eat. Alternatively cut it into squares with a knife if you’re at home. But unraveling it is by far easier and more cozy
I'm no expert, but I believe this necklace comes from Africa and those small golden "rolls" at 7:24 look similar to "antique roll seals", who were used to sign documents if I remember correctly.
I never considered that the food in Germany would suit me, but your video has changed that idea. Seems like the food at the markets are more international now, and that's exciting. The Christmas markets look beautiful, perhaps Christmas time is the best time to travel to Germany! I also want to say that I am always so impressed by your videos and how you include your mother. Your relationship is obviously very positive, most people I know, especialy Korean Americans, dread having to spend time with their mothers. Kudos to your mom for being the excellent parent I assume she is given your lovely relationship!
For some reason RUclips won’t recommend me your vids, I have notifications on so I’m not sure why? I have to look up your channel, but I’m glad I did I always love your videos ❤
Wow! Food galore! Reminds me of so much of Kyoto in terms of the city is so detailed in showcasing all the sights, sound, and smell that you are transported out of your daily humdrum life and into the holiday season. BTW, there is a weird glitch at 13:31, where the transcript suddenly flashed by. I almost thought you inserted a hidden easter egg. I have to slowed down the video to spot it.
I’m planning to go to Germany for the Christmas markets but every time I decide where I’m going I see another city, like Cologne, and want to change plans! Everything looks so amazing. Random question, as someone with a lot of intestinal issues, are there public restrooms available at these markets?
Wow. I used to watch your Korean lesson videos with professor OH and all your fun characters. Didn't know you were still making videos on a different channel!
