Michelin Defender T+H Review - Try It, Watch It, or Trash It?

  • Last up in this Michelin series, is the Michelin Defender T+H Review! The Michelin Defender T+H is a Standard Touring All Season Tire made for passenger car, minivans, and crossover utility vehicles. I actually have a set on my courtesy shuttle, and they have been super quiet, smooth, and they have lasted a long time. They are, however, expensive for the category. I have sold a bunch of these Defender T+H tires and they always balance out great which makes my customers happy.
Some of the applications I recommend for the Michelin Defender T+H are the Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4, Nissan Rouge, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan, Toyota Camry, and the Chevrolet Malibu.
Watch to find out if I think you should Try it, Watch it, or Trash it, and as always let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks!

I’m only considering this tire because it shows as a “quiet” ride tire. Do a lot of highway and more often wet roads. I find a quiet ride to be one of the most satisfying rides to take. Plus it’s a long life tire

My tires are new so I'm going to say I average about 57k but I like to drive my car thru canyon roads and when I'm driving normal in L.A. we have alot of potholes and they normally stay on my car for 4 years but even with low tred they still handle well but in the decent rain you definitely can tell they worn if you try to drive more aggressively they don't feel dangerous tho probably could get more miles out of them just don't want to risk it.

Very good review, Have these on a 1997 FZJ80 Land Cruiser, its a mismatch esp. as I like to go offroad and airdown, (BFG KO2 fan) Its my parents stock LC, which to be fair need new shocks. I'm glad to see it will perform well in wet and frozen conditions, Its just stiffer than tarnation. Makes for a very hard ride even at the vehicles recommended 32psi.....I guess that's true for any hard compound 80K tire. I would not rec these for even the occasional off roader. Feels like concrete tires even aired down a bit. Prob a good choice for a commuter. My tire is slightly different and need the 114H b/c its a heavy beast indeed.

I have the same vehicle Dodge Grand Caravan 2010 I went to discount tire* shop and ordered four new ones same type like the one you showing, although; mine take the size 225- 65/R16, I only know when a tire say M + S = mud and snow, but how about the T + H ?

I know the individual videos exist, but I think it would be cool to directly compare the Yokohama Geolandar G003s and the Cooper Evolutions. Maybe it's because those are the two tires I am debating between for my highway-driven daily that is also my weekend rig that experiences wet roads and some packed snow during the winter, but despite the possibly personally driven reason, I think it would still make a good video. You could talk about the depth of the spies, how the Cooper has a 2-ply sidewall rather than 3 like the Yokohamas making it lighter but possibly weaker, which one would be better for what, etc. Compare a highly rated fairly new tire to the brand new offering from Cooper you know? :)

There's only 3-4 brands of tires out there worthy of this name. Michelin always comes first when it comes to performance and durability. My pilot sports have never lost grip on wet and I torque 260 to the wheels 4 wheel drive on a 40/60 split. With other tires they all spin, screech or loose grip as some point. Those michs? SUCKS to the road man, on low XL walls they are an absolute joy of confidence to drive. The price difference makes it a no brainer really. Where talking max 100$ per tire for several years. Youll make the money back just in never changing them. People are just dum.

I'm actually pulling that tire from my Minivan today and replacing it with these Michelin. I felt they didn't hold up well. Nowhere near the mileage warranty maybe 40,000. Tires had been rotated at proper intervals but the front tires did not hold up well - approaching the secondary rubber. Ride was good with Hankook dry, wet was ok. I did notice you have to be careful with wheel spin from the front wheels in the rain. I don't consider myself an aggressive drive but the Toyota V6 does have a lot of torque. I'm hopeful - since he said this cured the problem on his Chrysler minivan

Very good video. I drive a Ford Flex and tow a 3500 lb trailer about 5 percent of its driving miles. I've been towing with the originally issued Hankook h725 tires under mixed driving conditions. Towing seems to be stable and comfortable, but these tires have worn out well before their advertised mile limit. I do not think it is towing only, because 8 out of 9 non towing Flex driver reviews have the same tread wear problem. I am going to buy new tires within a week and was wondering, considering my circumstance, whether the Michelin t + h will suffice as my next set of tires, or do I need a LT tire, assuming a LT tire will even fit on my rims.

Curious what you’d recommend for a 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition. Looking for an all terrain, 3 peak rated. Usage will include some dirt roads and moderate off-roading, but we also use this truck for family road trips, so good on-road manners and low noise are a priority. I'm trying to choose between these and BF Goodrich Advantage Control. I'm also looking at Hankook Kinergy PT H737 with 90,000 mike warranty. But those are at a place that is not as convenient to go for rotations. I'm thinking to go with the Michelins if they are made in the USA. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I really hate buying tires because I never know if I'm making a good choice considering cost and quality.

Its more about the compound than the tread depth. I always say mileage warranties are arbitrary and true mileage has more to do with the car and the roads that it drives on.

So looking for a really good all-season or all-weather. I’d greatly appreciate your recommendation out of the following 3 tires for a 2006 Toyota Corolla (185 65 r15):

Michelin Defender T+H ($600 CAD), or

Hi, I just had a tire place install the Michelin Defender T+H (215/55R17) tires. The manufacturing date is stamped on all four as "1521" (about 3 months ago). The tires, however, do not have the yellow and red stripes on them, (like the stripes on the tire in your demo). Why do you think there are no stripes on the tires I purchased? I'm wondering if they really aren't brand new. Thank you.
