Well gentlemen? Would you buy one? 🤔
Yea, If look like that.
Love it or hate is right!! Sorry, I'm the latter... don't like the lines... hate it!! (since you asked)
@@587G thanks for watching and commenting!
I’ll take that new Nova please!
Nope one of the ugliest trucks Chevrolet ever made
I am a lucky owner of a 2006 SSR ( final Production run) . I love the beast, it is useful, room for luggage, 2500lbs towing capacity, convertible and powerful. Just needed to change the radio for a Bluetooth one. I have no intention of selling it. I use it 6 months out of the year.
I'd buy one as long as gm doesnt overprice it beyond its actual worth.
and threaten to disable your vehicle if you dont sign up for onstar subscription
They will, its common practice since around 2009
REALLY!!! NEVER HEARD OF THREAT BCUZ OF ONSTAR SUB..........
YES I WOULD MOST DEF. BUY SSR!!@
And then you'll cry when it doesn't have the interior of a rolls royce.
I would like to se a Re-Imagined TrailBlazer SS. It was a Phenomenal SUV, that still holds it own even in todays world, not to mention, GM has several Options they could put in it for "Entry" level Price Points to from mild to Wild to take it to Jags F-E-I Pace, Porsche's Cayenne/Macan, Lamborghini's Urus etc. They could AFFORD to make a BOLD statement with a Small Batch/Limited Edition Run. Imagine a Entry Level V8, moving to a Twin Turbo V6 & an all Electric as a Stablemate. & YES! I do like the look of that NEW SSR, was also fond of the revamped 69 Chevelle
Actually the SSR rides on a Trailblazer frame.
I actually own a2004 ssr .I love mine.59,000 miles on it.I would by a new one if Gm would build a anniversary version.
This is truly the answer to a question that no one asked.
I asked. :)
I’ve always liked the SSR, but agree it was way overpriced when it came out. Yes it was a love hate relationship but I love the styling. Still do, for me it holds up way better than say the first Viper The original concept was supposed to be a sport truck, emphasis on the sport as in a big engine. I’d buy one but not in the incarnation you have shown. Looks to east LA to me. But also for me to buy one, they would have to have a humongous engine. Like a 6.2 supercharged with 700 or 800 hp. Then I’d consider.
I have a 2006 Chevy SSR & YES I would buy the new one if it was made. I Love this New Style Appearance
YES!!!! I WOULD BUY AN OLD ONE & A NEW ONE!!!! BOTH SUPERCHARGED!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Yes I would probably buy one. My granddaughter likes the SSR and there’s one of the original ones in her neighborhood.
Actually, This is my wifes favorite vehicle. I am still trying to find one with the 6.0 but automatic for her. Nice clean low mileage examples are bring a LOT of money right now. I would consider buying one of these. I would however suggest an AWD version though
Right on! Thanks for watching!
Join the ssr group on Facebook.
I have wanted one ever since they first came out, but the price point kept it just out of my reach. I settled on a custom Silverado shortbed stepside - I drove it off the showroom floor and loved it until it’s dying day. ❤️
Sorry but you just don't get it ,I owned a 2005 SSR and I loved it , if you are not a fan of the 1950's style of fat fendered trucks that it was emulating then your not going to be a fan. The most unique feature was the folding roof which was a stroke of genius, but I have to agree that the 5.3 engine was lame until they switched to the 6.0 in 2005 & 2006 , also this truck was not ment for the younger generation but for older farts like me (besides how many kids can aford a $40,000 plus truck ?).
One for sale near me its an 06 with 23500 miles with a manual. Price is $38000
I own a 2004 SSR and, second to my 1937 Plymouth, 4 door customized sedan, it has really been a fun car to drive. Not dragster speed, but nice pipes and loads of looks and comments. the best part is the fact that it is a hard-top convertible. Great Bose sound. At 17.3 mpg, it really isn't that bad for a V8. New enough to have some of the more modern tech, but retro enough to be unique. Like anything, you're probably going to like them or not. Personally, I'm a fan and love driving it. By the way, mine is for sale.
I had a pacific blue 2006 crome edition, loved it! I would buy one again!
I like the old style, new style is too masculine. Also would defeat the purpose i guess but an all electric would be cool
Nope. Maybe if it were bigger and the front end was more like the original but went down closer to the ground
I LOVED this and the Plymouth Prowler. Mainly because they weren't cookie cutter cars. And the SSR never got a chance to survive because it couldn't actually be used as a pickup and was only a 2 seater. Very limited audience. And in typical GM fashion they killed it off too soon. Hint hint Pontiac finally got the Fiero right with the GT. Then killed it.
THIS updated version is toooo busy looking.
I would love one. Although I prefer the original look. I would like to have a wider cab. I little higher ride height. And, maybe a turbo charged boxer engine. You can not forget all of the recent gadgets (reverse camera, in lane assist, adaptive cruise control).
Mello? You're Portuguese, no? Plenty of them up here in Toronto. Good people man, hard working. Hope I didn't misidentify you.
Current owner of one of the first 25 and you bet but it would have to be redone in ultra violet.
It will be likely to be price wise $30,00 and up to $54,000 over price
Yes I would.
I would buy one if they made upgrades that look just like this one. I do like them. It's a Chevy. Not just a piece of shivy! At least make it roar loud!
is it a trucc or a shoppin cart? what would you go grocery shopping in?
Yes! Especially in that COLOR! 🔥👌
Yes, I would buy one. I can picture the Cadillac CT-5 Blackwing power plant under the hood.
I like where your heads at Donald!
Great idea. Definitely.
I would buy one. I would have bought the old ones at least the 2006 model
I would absolutely buy one of these
When are we all going to accept the fact that the days of the V8 are numbered? Gas prices are never going back down to pre-pandemic levels, for various reasons, so buyers will be looking for fuel efficient vehicles or even electric. What's wrong with slapping the new turbo four in there along with a fun-to-drive manuel?
Yes I would buy one
BADASS, yes I would buy one!
I would definitely consider this one.
ask your buddy to do a rendering of a crew cab version of this chevy ssr and who know it might even compete with the new 2022 ford maverick. I think that it will look so cool.
after a long 48 second’s look at the modernized 2022 possibility for Chevy SSR…. The wrinkles appeared in my forehead and the corners of my mouth almost cramped up. When thinking and browsing video’s of the 2005 models… well, that took a few hours before getting turned off. Truthfully, 90% of the twenty or so “good ole cars” that have been in my driveway were General Motors products. It’s now Feb. 2024 and I drive a 2005 Buick Rendevous with 53,000 miles…. No, it’s not for sale. I LOVE IT. :-)
I would love one as long as it is NOT Electric and it comes with a manual. Well done video
Looks like another Chevy Sweet ride...I would buy one..
YES if it looked like your drawing.
I like the styling of the new rendering. Actually, I thought the original SSR was good looking and I liked the retractable top, but the thing was too expensive and not practical at all. If the new version would address those issues I would consider it.
I had one I bought new in '06. Black with the chrome side rails, fully loaded. Was a fun "truck" that always got comments from people wanting to know if I custom built it. I traded it in 08 for a 07 yellow corvette Z51 and never looked back :) Don't think I'd but a new one if they offered it but if they came back with an El Camino I might seriously consider it.
This new design I'd def pick up. Looks much meaner and road ready
Thanks for checking it out Neil!
I actually grew up with this car as my dream car, and I would love if they brought it back. I think if they didn't overprice it, and if they offered a 4 door model, or those trucks with the 2 small back doors, it would potentially sell great, I think!
When the SSR first came out, the dealers in my area wanted a 25 to 30 thousand mark up. And Chevrolet wonders why it didn’t sell. Control your dealers and you will sell more cars.
Dealership owners will be at the Hellgate when their time is up. Same for "Fast Talks" Car salesmen.
I would love to get 1 for the new version. I agree, it has to be a limited edition. Corvette 2022 is a "Hot Sale".
I might consider. But with things are EV or hybrid maybe GM might think of something similar to SSR!
The design is great, but it still has to be a convertible. That was the coolest part to me.
Nope...
That new design is not for me.
I prefer the original.
I would not buy one as I have a 2005 SSR. I like it a lot. Few mods on the front end would make it cool. I like it because it reminds me of the old 1940’s and early 50’s pickup. It is why I bought it. I am in the process of restoring it back to new like condition.
Why no manual shifter with EV or hybrid cars? Is there some technical reasoning that they all have to be automatics? The reality of a near 100% EV or hybrid market in the next decade or less cannot be ignored. I would buy this new SSR only as an EV. EVs are torque monsters without modification anyways.
@Bryan McHugh EVs don't need transmissions cause they can rev so high.
Tesla tried a 2 speed gear box, but it couldn't take the torque the electric motor was throwing at it.
A lot of EV conversions do use the original transmission, but they don't really need to change gears, cause the motor can move the car in any gear.
I agree with you about the EV SSR, that's why I'm converting mine.
Yep! Awesome new look if it were.
always loved the uniqueness of the SSR built especially for husband and wife golfers who are retired and live in the south which of course I became an owner trading in my 2015 392hemi challenger 39k for 2006 black on silver 17k miles last run almost straight up in August
At 40k I would
If I could afford it, then yes I would definitely buy it
I'd rather see GM revive the old z28 Camaro than to try this model again....
It's different. And that's what GM, was going for with the original.. I would buy an older one, and this one.. but that's a lot a coin.. it's nice to dream though right?? As for the electric comment on another post.. NO ABSOLUTELY NOT....
We all need to get at chevy. Strength in numbers🏆💪🏾. I would need it in powdered donut white, red and black interior, red brake calipers and then have somebody airbrush burning gundam on it.
There were plans to make the black bird addition where a turbo would be added to boost the horsepower, but it never came to pass.
I'd buy one if it was right hand drive as well. I liked the old look but also like the new look. Looks like it should have at least 500bhp. Definitely make it. Make it also available in right hand drive too please. Phat muscle truck. 💪
Cool, I would buy one.
Who makes rims for this truck. And would they fit on a 2003 ss-r?
Mind goes wild when asked would you buy one and what would you like in it. I’m thinking a rally prepped version, 2.7 with 420lb/ft, AWD, 10speed sequential. Do a 180 and that would need a lift, at least 35s, solid axles F/R, more of a retro napco . GM let me know if you want to make your company a succes again or just stay bland.
If it was as big as a 1500 but looked like that I would consider a purchase. Kind of like a Camaro/elcomino type vehicle….would have to have a v8 also
Since I prefer to buy new, yeah, I’d like GM to produce a new one. First take off about 1500 pounds and with todays technology, better gas mileage while maintaining high enough horse power to make it fun to drive. Offer a high output 6cyl beside the 8. Make the retractable top an option, that will save on weight as well. Keep the retro styling but make it a little less VW beetle looking.
And keep those old fashioned door locks. Of course it’s impractical and won’t sell well but if you want to sell any, ya gotta do better than 14mpg city.
I loved the SSR but couldn’t afford it back then… love that your friend remade a design, although I’m not fond of it personally as I did like the look when it was in production. Would love it if Chevy brought back SSR but don’t see it happening:(
Yes sir I would !!!!!! Love it that look is perfection just like that
I'll take one
I like the Oscar’s drawing but I’d like to see the grill with a 54 grill and glass headlights without the spear through the headlights
I would like to know were and you made those rims for the truck. And can I buy a pair for my 2003 truck
I would buy one in a V8
Beautifully remodeled
Literally just bought a ssR and my dad showed me this all exited like look at how this guy did his custom i took one look and said thats a render
Would have to have the LT4 drivetrain, manual trans. His rendition looks WAY better then the Ugly Duck.
Wide-body kit? What you said, limited edition with a body color bar where the Bowtie is with the drivetrain you mentioned. Flaten the the hood a bit then have a cliff drop in front of it like a 1968 Chevy half-ton truck.
Yes I would with a 6.2 with a Stick
Yes I would buy the pickup
I actually liked the SSR in yellow of course. I also liked the HHR SS. What would the modern HHR SS look like?
Like the new look. I would buy one.
I would take one but again price would be the issue. I have a 1991 C1500 stepside covered in garage it would look nice sitting next to. I liked the SSR when they came out but could not see spending that kind of money. Cool concept though.
❤I've had one since 2007❤
Looks great, would like to see the original bar… maybe even a Tesler Power plant or a 700 HP crate engine like in the Grand Sport Vet
Definitely. I liked this review.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes I would. Hell I bought a 2006 already and love it.
Yes!
I like the old ones best.
Yep...only with the 6.0. And a manual.
I would buy the SSR convertible pickup in a minute
Yes I would buy one!
I would buy one, only if it looks exactly like that one, and manual 6 speed. With 500 horse power. That would be enough for me.
I’ve always like the Chevy SSR I am actually thinking of buying one sometime this year or next. I’m retired now and would like to have something just to cruise around in.If they were to bring out a limited model I would need to see it but chances are I would purchase one
Make it AWD and it gets interesting....drop in the ZO6 corvette motor and it gets INSANE.
If only we could be so lucky!
Yes 👍🏽 👏🏽
but what if its electric?
Yes 😀
I wouldn't want the new one, but I wouldn't mind having the original ealy 2000's SSR. The new one has way too much grille like the rest of GM's products. Its not just GM though. There aren't very many new vehicles that I do like the design of.
He should have kept the Camaro lights on it looks nice
I Would love it with a V8 Manual and about
500 HP . And Slingshot yellow like my 2004
SSR with 7,800 Hundred miles on it.
Whoa! Don't touch me there.
Still, I might prefer the old one. I need a little clearance.
Yes it's looking good
The back end is great. Roof lines are perfect... hood slope ok...but the front nose... looks like a beetle, Volvo & Audi had a really bad accident in a star trek transporter.... doesnt blend well at all...
I'd rather buy a revived Pontiac fiero.... or even worse...a ford pinto rally sports wagon...
it looks good
Hell yeah I'd buy one
If they wanna bring back vintage style they may as well re design bring back the HHR then.
This is the 7th video .. I've seen ( 2 today)
since I Saw TWO of them at the Antique auto show
in OC MD in Oct. Never new they excited
doesn't need a 8 cyl Corvette engine
love the R top design GREAT but that's me
looking for one right now
I always liked it cos it looked like a cross between a vw bug and an el camino
