    Can someone explain whether the Python/Modeling skills starting in 2024 will be just videos you watch as a seminar and complete exercises or would it be a timed-test at the end of the seminar that if you fail you cannot take the exam. I am struggling to understand what's the purpose of it if you just watch and might have someone else do the exercises for you. Thanks!

    Mark, I have a liberal arts background (read: very little background in finance) and only started studying for the November 2023 Level 1 CFA. I embark on this journey mainly to bridge the gap in my knowledge before starting my MBA program & to become a competent entrepreneur who undertands the perspective of financial analysts. Would love to listen to more of these motivating coaching sessions! Please keep 'em coming!

      You have way way more time than you will ever need. I have some background so I managed to pass Feb 23 level 1 exam after about 10 days of intense studying. You would probably need more time so try to plan ahead and set aside time to have plenty of practice just before the exam. That will help you solidify your understanding while also refresh your memory for important concepts. The danger here is underestimating the size of the program and starting too late or trying to study too early and forgetting the materials on the exam day, not having enough time to study for it.

    Hi Mark, I have failed twice, and spent a lot of our hours for preparation. After your video I understand that I have not made proper review. I am going to register for Aug 23 and hope that I will pass, should I do review and practice and do not spent time for reading chapters again? I have 4 sections below 50%

    Hello Dr. Mark, just passed level 1 exams through your lectures. For Level 2, I was thinking of applying for the Access Scholarship for the Nov 23 exams. So can I buy your level 2 package right now, as I will get the confirmation of the scholarship only after a little while? I want to start the preparation ASAP.

    Hi Mark! Do you have anything to say to someone who did not pass, was prepared and the passing was about one/ couple of points away. It was so close so I struggle to find the motivation to do it again, as I was excited about moving into the level 2. Also I was wondering if you think adding Python on 2024 will affect the passing rates of November? (People who are not fans of programming wanting to do the ex before it changes).
    Many thanks.

    • @MarkMeldrum
      @MarkMeldrum  Год назад +1

      If you were that close, you don't need a lot of time - look at Aug. If you want a lower cost, take November, and that gives you a few months off - you have until May 10 to get the early registration amount. As for Python - you don't have to do that module - you can do the financial modelling one - you only need one - it is not testable. ChatGPT can generate Python code for you - no need to learn it.

    • @MarkMeldrum

      You can learn anything without needing a formal certification. However, the CFA letters are a market signalling device - they let others know that you know it. So if you feel you will need that legitimacy, then that is what the exams are for.

      Whenever I speak to prospective/existing CFA candidates, the topic of study hours inevitably comes up. And I will remind that the CFA exams do not test you on number of study hours but mastery of the curriculum. So the proper aim should be 80% score in mocks - 70% is the guaranteed passing score + 10% buffer for exam day conditions.
      Using your example, you probably would get 95% in mocks which demonstrates complete mastery of the L1 content. I don't see anything wrong with your method if I works for you

    • @TyrannicToe56

      @@Nigel3005 on the contrary my prep for the exam was a very last minute attempt lol. I fully expected to fail the exam and retake it at a later date. I was quite overwhelmed with the amount of content and practice and did not have time to do mock exams properly. I was actually going through questions and answers simultaneously to be exposed to as many question types as possible. Would not recommend my approach to anyone lol.

      @TyrannicToe oh wow. Hahaha you must be very smart then if you could learn while doing mocks - mocks are usually used to solidfy understanding as opposed to initial learning. Otherwise, you probably have a very good finance background. Well done either way! 👏
