There's this guy, Teo, that got a scuffed controller from like Corsair or something and it was a teapot bolted to a dust vacuum with real controller innards.
Shoulda reversed those but awwwhhh come on man if you left it to the grand slam joke it wouldn't seem like u blatantly ripped off a chatter, right around when he gets it together
This is like that video of the guy who has no arms or legs running a marathon saying "What's your excuse?" Like, I play with my keyboard, but beyond strumming potentially being better on this monstrosity, Alec just proved that I, in fact, just suck at Clone Hero
Been playing CH hero recently and I don't have a guitar so I've just been holding my keyboard like one with 2-6 as frets and left, down, and right arrow keys all mapped to strum. Works pretty well, only real issue is fast strumming sometimes, but I can kinda rake strum it. Hadn't thought about using a controller for strum so I may have to try that.
literal keyboard warrior. nah respect, gh guitars are hard as hell to find cheap anymore, nothing wrong with rocking the keyboard. imagining you picking up the keyboard and playing it like a guitar is mad funny though lmao
Why 2 to 6? You have to reach over the function keys and that sounds awful. Unless your keyboard is one that has a function button instead of function keys, in which case, that is probably a pretty good setup.
@@lefthandedscout9923 Yea, it's a 65% board so the top row is numbers. I pretty much hold it like a ukulele or something because of the size. Pretty comfortable since I've gotten used to it.
before i got myself a guitar when i was getting back into CH i played in a similar way. the method i used to get around fast strums was i mapped strum up and down to moving my mouse left and right, then i held my mouse against my torso with a dark solid shirt on and strummed with that. it was beyond scuffed but it worked lol
Ever since my controller broke, I've played Clone Hero using my mechanical keyboard held up like a guitar. Frets are right shift / . , m and I've bound strum up to caps lock strum down to left shift, star power is on tab or spacebar and keyboard whammy is bound to left control. I've actually hit some pretty nasty stuff on the scuffed setup, like Cliffs of Dover.
about half way through the video my brain started thinking wait he's going to take this apart at then end :( and then he said he was gonna put it somewhere and i popped off 10/10 amazing video
I would think it would be something where the strumbar is close to the fret buttons to make tapping transitions easier and also maybe 10 buttons like how a GH Live guitar had 6 buttons but the extra 5 buttons are just duplicate buttons to make alt tapping easier.
@@josukehigashikata1280 Not exactly, but kind of. While the Rock Band guitar neck does have 10 buttons, they are split vertically. I mean for the buttons to be split horizontally like the Guitar Hero Live guitar. The only difference is the GHL guitar has no duplicate buttons where the RB guitar has 10 buttons and 5 of those are duplicated as soloing buttons. This new guitar controller would have duplicated buttons like the RB guitar, but positioned like how the GHL guitar is set up, and also 10 buttons (but only 5 unique buttons) instead of 6 unique buttons.) Although the more that I think about it, I think a GH guitar in the style of a RB guitar would be better than my original thought. You play normally up top and can tap down low without having your hands near each other ever and you can still alt tap that way too. The problem with the RB guitar was that it's fret buttons were too clicky and the strumbar was not clicky enough.
You can improve this with a 3d printer get a thing that goes over the top of the baseball bat for the num pad and one that goes in the bottom to hold the controller. You could even use screws to help hold the holders better
Okay, now we just need someone to create a 3d printable guitar for these two to comfortably slot into so they don't jostle around, and we've got the actually perfect diy guitar.
@@shitpostersingracia2931 You know there are places everywhere where you can just bring in a thumb drive with the print files, and drop a bit of cash and they'll print your shit for you. The nearest location is just a google search away.

Honestly, grab some decent DIY webbing straps and buckles from a hiking/milsurp store so you can fasten the components a bit tighter, and this might be legit. Or maybe just use zipties (and pack the gaps), if you're not planning to take it apart often.
I had been thinking for a good while of doing something similar to that with the two Switch joycons, so I guess the proof of concept is already there. lol
I wish he put the whammy bar as left/right on the right thumb stick (R3?) and put star power on the d-pad to make it accurate to the official controls.
Happy birthday Alec. You’re an inspiration to everyone, and you make everyone’s day brighter with each upload. I just spent 15 days designing a custom guitar for myself and you spent 10 minutes successfully convincing me that I should just throw away my whole 3D printer

This needs to be a series where you make progressively more scuffed controllers
I don't know if it gets more scuffed than this 😅

This game makes you create your own guitar even if you don't have the idea how to create a guitar
Since its a PS4/PS5 controller you could totally attach a pencil to the two joysticks for a longer physical strum bar

as someone who cant really get a guitar controller easily (or anywhere locally to be specific) ill have to consider doing this sometime
