    This is one of the first times I’ve ever seen somebody show a poor value study. I always hear people make a good value study do a value study, but I’ve never seen an example of one that didn’t work. Thank you.

    I notice several top artists using Blick Scholastic brushes. Inexpensive but decent quality and you don’t feel too guilty about replacing one to get a fresh sharp edge on a new one.

    This is an intriguing approach. Does John’s video course go into detail about how to test and choose a color scheme and palette for the color version of his monochrome underpainting? He shows a variety of color studies here, but there’s no discussion here about his thinking behind his process of making those color studies.
