When you take a small amount of front wing damage your pit crew will auto replace your wing and that means the stop is 9-10 seconds. But if it’s not too damaged so that you can still race virtually full pace then double tap B and turn off the auto replace wing and this means your stop will only be 2-3 seconds and therefore you won’t fall so far behind after your pit stop like this race because 7 seconds is very significant in F1
You'll lose way more than 7 seconds over the course of the race though due to reduced downforce and cornering speeds.

Episode 3 of Tips And Tricks
*(Bare in mind, I have not finished watching the video yet)*
During practice, the more tasks you complete, the more R&D points are collected, so if you are in need of lots of points, simply do more of the programs.
The interview answers that you give will influence other teams perspectives on you and other drivers, if you want to sign a driver, make sure you do not talk poorly of them in interviews.
On rare occasions, the racing line that is given to you may not be the fastest route around a certain, so if you feel faster when you take a different line, maybe try it out more and see if you gain time there instead of writing it off immediately.
The better drivers do in races, the more they will cost, if you see a driver who is struggling but is still good you may be able to get him or her on the cheap.
Use the telemetry from practice to find out where you are losing time to other drivers on which parts you are better at.
Check each department and facility and find out in which department you are slower than the rest of the grid on, then use this information to upgrade those parts that you are slower in to balance the car.
For circuits with less corners, use a lower wings (less downforce) setup, for ones with more corners, use higher wings (more downforce.)
You can check the height of your wings by viewing your setup before starting a race in the menu that the race strategy is in.
For races that you have qualified poorly for, try ordering new components for your car, these parts include, gearbox, engine etc, when you order these parts you will take a grid-penalty which will lower your grid position, so for instance, if qualify last or 21st, consider ordering a new power unit or engine maybe, as you will lose less positions if you order them now rather than later when you are in a good position, these components will wear down after a certain amount of races and if left to long, could fail and break during a race.

When you bumped into Vettel earlier on you broke your front wing, cost you a possible top 5 finish, firstly turn the AI level up more, mainly because you were racing cars that ina 50% race should be lapping you and you're also hitting the cars ahead because they're braking earlier, due to their lower level. Secondly make sure your driving at the level of the guy ahead, if he is braking early and the overtake is on, brake earlier to avoid a collision because that damaged cost you with the long pit stop. Also worth saying, you can pit earlier or later than the game tells to you but doing so has different effects [e.g. pitting before the person ahead of you means you get on new tyres while they are slow on old tyres making you quicker and possibly allowing you to get ahead of them after they stop but then they will have better tyres at the end. It's also worth checking the strategy to see if a different strategy will suit you and if any rain will arrive in which case you'd need to think about changing the strategy for the changing weather, especially if you move to a 50% race which is worth a thought. Well done though.

Try to practice without braking assist, and maybe watch some video tips for beginners on RUclips. It’ll make you much faster and make the experience much more rewarding for you.
Also maybe consider getting a steering wheel

Josh you need to follow the racing line more. I noticed that you break when you see the red racing line , when actually you just are breaking in the green line, I say you should practice it a lot more, and focus on the racing line a lot
more as this will hopefully improve your racing . Keep up the good work 👍
I noticed that he tries to take the racing line to literally, and if he messes up a corner and comes off the racing line he won't adapt the way in which that he takes the next corner and instead try to get back on the line which is slowing him down.

You dont always have to change your front wing when you go into the pits as it takes a heap of time. Turn off "repair wing damage" on the 2nd window of the mfd

Lads the racing line is a bit scuffed at some areas. I figured this out the hard way and being less hesitant on the throttle gains a lot of time in certain corners. Didn’t mean to insult anyone but ok

I just got this f1 game and I found the fastest way to improve positions in races wasn’t to focus on switching assists to manual but to improve at running people into the wall😂

loving the series josh, i think it might help your race pace a bit if u try positioning ur car to the side of the car infront when approaching a braking zone... instead of staying in the slip stream, cos ur much less likely to get front wing damage and a lot of times ur gonna find urself able to overtake on the corner exit... especially at the start of the race
yeah that killed a position in the points in the end, severe understeer at the end

Josh on qualifying you only want to do one full pace lap and then go back to the pits get a new set of tyres and then go out maybe one or two more times later in the session. You are doing consecutive laps meaning you don’t always have full battery and your tyres are getting worn.
Love this series it is the only good consistent one right now
You should definitely do track acclimatisation rather than driving around normally. It helps you learn the track, probably more than just driving around, and gets you resource points in the process. The way your scores improved each lap just goes to show that you were improving

Josh you need to do your race strategy it helps sooooo much
There seem to be 2 areas that are showing where you are losing time. When you arrive into a corner the racing line is red/orange but when you're exiting the racing line is a flat green. The second indicator is that your deltas (time differences) dramatically reduce pre apex and then grow post apex and then subsequently deep into the following straight. Simple answer to these issues - brake earlier, accelerate earlier, try and maintain an orange/yellow racing line all the way through each corner.
I don't play the game but I would imagine, given the overall reality of it, that your tyres will struggle the better you get at this so there should be a sweet spot, I would think it would be on the yellow/just green racing line through tight corners and more yellow/orange on faster corners.
I get the impression all the people telling you to practice with aids off and all that aren't really aware of your racing gaming prowess. Your understanding of lifting vs braking is going to be the key so work on that in regards to average speed over the apex and you'll be more than fine.
Qualifications - About 25 years of being overly excited by the technical elements of F1 (i.e. no expert)
If you go back and watch how you've perform in turn 1 from about lap 6 it shows the difference really well
Down force is key for turning and speed and helps with braking
Rich on the straights and lean or standard(depens on how much fuel you got) in the corners.
F1 is underrated
When turning into tighter corners you should commit to the turn and try to be too cautious. Doing this and staying away from mounting curbs will result in quicker lap times and less wear on the tires and car.
Josh when the racing line goes yellow it’s best to lay off the gas instead of completely braking as u will be able to carry more speed through the corner and also through corner try not to push the steering input to the max and steer in a smooth manner hope this helps love this series
Don’t worry josh, the reason why you may not know the track is because its Zandvoort, which hasn’t featured on the calendar for a significant period of time, the track with the 'sick sector 1' you were referring to may be Suzuka at Japan.

little advice for the qualifiers: first of all, make as less laps as possible because in the race you will use the same tires you made the time in q, and also try to make the time with medium tires so in the race you will start with medium, at the end of the race you will be faster because all will have weak medium but you will have fresh soft tires

Tyres less likely to wear as quick if u get a wheel cause you can control the car round the tight and long corners better. With the controller I can see u have to keep adjusting round corners which will lead to quicker tyre wear.

You should definitely save your money and get a better teammate with it.
When choosing a teammate you shouldn’t focus to heavily on their stats. On my save, I got Kvyat and while his stats were a lot better than my previous partners, he finished in virtually the same place. So get a driver who consistently performs well as well as having good stats

This series is in need of u buying a Fanatec sim If your committed or a Logitech g29 if you want a cheaper option. Once you get used to a wheel your lap times will be much faster
This driving is not bad considering Josh hasn't played much before. I've played the F1 games from 2010 (always on the pad) and it took me a solid 5-6 years to drive with the hardest difficulty.
I understand you saying you should be down nearer 20th etc but at the same time it will be a mad long series if you ever want to be competitive, I think right now is a good level where you can push to be in the mix for points but without taking out the realism, there’s still a good challenge
Josh play it on medium traction, it's much more faster than full traction. If you're feeling good enough than play it with no traction

You should definitely buy a wheel for this game it’s soo much more enjoyable and you’ll be a lot better when your used to it, also when you come out of corners get the power down quicker, also you should really utilise slipstream when overtaking :)
when the racing line is yellow, i ease off the accelerator. only brake when it is red and go wide to turn into hairpin's to shoot out of the corner

Josh, if you want to increase your overall track speeds, stop staying in the middle of the lane. use ad much of the kerbs as possible. and on the exits of the turns make sure at least the side wheels are on edges.

Josh I know ur not that far into the game so I think you should buy a wheel I have one and it’s a lot better than controller it may seem bad buying it just for f1 but if you decide to play other racing games it will just enhance the experience

In that car you shouldn’t unless it’s tracks that are best for you. For example I’ve just finished the Monaco Gp and got knocked out in Q1 because I’m terrible at that track. However in Zandvoort, China and Bahrain I got out of Q1 but my highest finish was 14th. I play on controller so I struggle on tracks like Monaco but I play on 100 ai
