Great video, dude! But I'd add a part in the end where you show the drums final sound isolated and also compare that awesome sound to the one you had before mixing, like a before and after.
Duuuuuuude I just found your channel and as a fellow emo/pop-punk logic user I feel like I'm gonna learn more from a few of your videos than I have in the last two years. Really great explanations, you the man!
@@TerryBeckleyRecording its okay mate, I'm having trouble making a payment, my debit card can't send foreign currency. I just want to get a kick sample from the drag under album like you said in the drum mixing video. Can I get a sample, mate? I looked for it but couldn't find it. thank you for taking your time
Great video! But which snare sound did you use for the GGD one kit wonder snare? Ik there’s a couple of them that I can remember that are named “Vibe kill” “parallel” and “in the 90’s this is how drums sound”. Thank you !
Quite interesting what you've done here, but how do you manage it if you're working on albums or ep? since there was a lot going on to mix this drums. also what do you prefer to achieve in terms of sound, because modern drum plugins for me is already sound mixed. what is the reason for having a bounced audio clip from the plugins and blend it again with another sample? thank you.
Yeah that’s a good question! I often find that the mix settings that work for one song on an EP often don’t quite work as well on another. I have my initial compressors and EQ saved as a channel strip and I’ll load them onto the nest song in the EP. But I’ll often have to adjust them slightly for the different tempos etc. With the drum samples, I’ll have a main sample that I’ll keep raw - so for instance GGD modern and massive is quite raw sounding and dynamic so I’ll use that. Then I just find I prefer adding a sample that had a top end that I like and fits well with the guitars instead of boosting the sample with EQ if I felt like I needed more 8khz etc. So I prefer adding samples that have the qualities I need instead of trying to get it from EQ. And I have the samples bounced out so that I can control phase relationships between samples. As the samplers will round robin between different hits, I need to know that it’s not gonna give me a hit that it slightly out of phase with a different sample I’m using. That, plus it helps my CPU! Sorry for the long reply! I hope it was helpful!
@@TerryBeckleyRecording thaaatt’s a very good answer too. So there’s always a different tweaks between songs did it? I get it, so the sample is filling what you need for an extra eq than adding another plugin right? Because i’m using the GGD and Ezdrummer too for my drums sample. Btw thanks for your reply, ✌️
Sorry dude! Thanks for catching that! Toneden changed their domain and it seems to have broken a lot of my links! I’ve updated the link in the description but if you want to download the finished mix use this link: drive.google.com/file/d/1kqNBjfshd1Hrn_jR6xvQxdFW2AyYdUO9/view?usp=drivesdk

Thanks dude! It’s good to know stuff like that! I’ll definitely end with that in my videos from now on
