Never stop these documentaries pls... From that of Ositelu to that of Kuti and Crowther... I have watched them all and I'm sharing them... Pls don't stop ... They are all masterpieces!.
This is really powerful.. one thing we lack in Nigeria is documenting history, and watching this for the first time is shocking.. Thank you for this, I love historical documentaries..
The influence of his work on Fela Kuti is unmistakable. There seem to be similarity in their outlook. There's an elemwy of rebellion in their works. However, it appears like there's good rebellion like Jesus to Pharisees and bad rebellion which was the Absalom kind of rebellion. They were both strong personalities like Josiah's Father.
Im almost in tears as i listen to his songs. These are pioneers... Legends in short. Although the gift of music is still in the family line to his fifth generation, they appear to have abandoned the Christian faith
I'm in awe. I see how God uses individual people to change whole generations. From JJ's mother who just refused to budge,to the German Missionary who taught classical music. I'm wondering what (his) story was. Maybe he gave up classical dreams of being a Bach or Mozart, to follow Jesus to Africa...then transferred those skills to students, and look how that influenced Mr Ransome-Kuti. Look how his sons/grandsons have influenced music across the globe. JJ himself, for taking the skill he had, and putting it on gramophone records? The conventional church must have thought it preposterously worldly. Yet look what a fire he started. I am (in awe). Thank you, Mr Deji! Please keep doing the good work you do! We all need to keep being who God has made us. Lesson learnt well!!
Thank you for this documentary. An insight into the great life of an influencer of the generations after him. He was not a crowd pleaser, and it ran through their genes, a genuine role model.
Thank you for this great job Sir. As a lover of History, deeply engrossed into research into Yoruba history, not those told by the colonials, i appreciate this job
Beautiful! As JJ really minister Gospel with music in a time when idolatry is rife. Thank you for sharing this piece of beautiful history of a man who served the Lord in his generation. The first time I heard about the great work of Pa J J Ransome Kuti. Worthy of archive. His music is still deep in truth and passion.
welldone...looking forward to more of this, GREAT WORKS !!!. This will shape how we see our history and give us more confidence to build a legacy for coming generation
Brilliant 👌🏽 thanks. I was wondering that none of the Rev's descendants use their talent for Christ when I read Gaise Baba's comment and followed the link to his songs which are simply a deja vù of Fela's melody... I believe the mantle has rather fallen on GB😀🤩
This is Powerful 🔥......Now we now where Fela got his music high life from. But besides that his passion for making Gospel Music and an Anglican clergy
Great work as usual Bro Deji! 👏👏 The Daniel Olubi in Ibadan look like Pastor Olubi Johnson of Scripture Pastures. I guess he is Pastor OJ's ancestor. 😁 Great Grace Sir
Wow.. Just to be clear… is this fela’s father and Funmilayo Ransome Kuti’s husband? If so he needs to be celebrated more… that family is actually a special one
Thank you so much for this well researched production. It has been greatly enlightening. God Bless You sir. It's such a blessing for me personally, to see there's a century-long background to our current drive to push the boundaries of Christian, faith-based yet culture-penetrating music. Thank you Mr. Abodunde, I am blessed by your work. If you may, kindly look up this clip to get an idea of the work (and ideology) I lead, and am actively stewarding: ruclips.net/video/BtmXeYQ8b-Q/видео.htmlsi=Kjlg0JOsQ0Q2bCTi Thank you again sir, GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
Hey, GaiseBaba! Thank you very much for your kind words. And thank you for all you do to extend the frontiers of the kingdom! I watched the video of one of your performances at Covenant Christian Centre sometime ago and was thrilled. J. J. Ransome-Kuti's courage and pioneering spirit deeply inspires me. The kingdom requires such boldness to advance. Thank you for your courage and commitment to God's purpose in our day. Will check out the link. God bless you!
You shared this video and I fell into the rabbit hole. Thank you bro. And thank you, the highly esteemed @Deji Abodunde. You are doing the Lord's work.

How will you call my ancestor 3:21; Ademuyiwa Pythagoras Haastrup an ijebu man, he’s an Ijesha Prince who lived in ijebu Remo, he’s the one who God used in bringing Methodist church to Remo land and Ilesha.

I was wondering too! This should be corrected for truth and future sake. I know Haastrup is a well known name & family in Ilesha, Osun state...
Masterful storytelling
Thank you for the kind words!
