After upgrading from a T500RS to a DD1 just yesterday, I completely agree with you! The wheel didn't make me any quicker - it just made the process more fun and detailed. If anything it showcased the shortfalls in my stand, where the flex is essentially unbearable now.

Thank you for this overview. I'm still using my 10 year Logitech MOMO steering wheel. I recently prioritized and upgraded the pedals to the load cell Thrustmaster T-LCM and what a massive difference it has made compared to the original potentiometer pedals. Also after considering my space I've also upgraded to the Next Level Wheel Stand DD and again a massive difference to the stability. I'm trying to keep in mind I'll eventually upgrade to a stronger wheel and wheel base hence why I went for the NLR Wheel Stand DD. I think the next upgrade that will make the mosts sense is updating my 8 year old PC even before upgrading the wheelbase/rim, so I can finally retire my Logitech MOMO wheel. Thank you for all the wonderful advice, it has definitely helped me be more strategic as I continue to upgrade my SIM racing experience. Love from Canada!
Thank you for letting me know that I can be competitive with my G920, I only just got into sim racing and im loving it but I was worried that I would have to spend a fortune to be competitive
I love how when you're reading your script to the camera (which is what I'm assuming you're doing during these long monologues instead of saying everything off the top of your head), you tilt your head up and to the viewer's right very noticeably. Speaking of talking to the camera, it might be a worthy investment for you, in the interest of increasing production value, to get one of those teleprompters that you can attach to the end of a camera lens, like what LTT uses. That way you can look directly into the camera while reading off your script and the camera won't notice a difference. I don't know, that's just my two cents. I think those gadgets are kinda cool and very useful.
I bought my first setup recently, CSL DD 8nm R2R Pack. New Logitech = $360 cash, Second hand belt drive $550 cash and a new DD rig was only $900 and with Paypal's Pay in 4 its only $225 a fortnight... It just makes sense to go straight for it if you can afford it only downside is I have to wait 2 weeks for the wheel to be available.
Great amount of information here, well done. Question though: is it just habit to have your head skewed to one side or was it due to reading script? One of those things for me that once J noticed I couldn't un-notice.
Thanks for your tips! Currently I am using G27 and I am thinking about OSW (based on SC1). I like the hardware was developed for years and verified by many sim racers, but on the other hand I am afraid of lack of software support. My budget is 1000€ and I would like to use it for more than 5 years. Please what is your recommendation?
Over a month i buy the Fanatec v2.5 with Porsche 918 rsr wheel ! (Come from a t300) ...This week i reseived the Fanatec v3 pedals with brake kit, this is so amazing haha ... So can't wait for my wheel later 😁
I have recently upgraded from Fanatec csw2.5 to Simucube 2 Ultimate which improved my race pace by around 0.5s with better consistency too. In terms of feeling the difference between v2.5 and Simucube 2 is a little less than I expected. Maybe I expected too much about DD wheel. That's a big compliment for the v2.5 but Simucube 2 is something else. The speed and smoothness is second to none. I can react to situation before it goes really bad. It is so great to run lap after lap with consistent and competitive lap times. I don't think I can do that with a non-DD wheel. No regret about the upgrade at all.
This may be a silly question but if i wanted to use other pedals with my g29 would that work aslong as they are plugged in by usb or is it only the logitech pedals that work
I went to a G29 and went slower than with a controller. So I sold it and picked up a Fanatec CSL. My driver rating has dropped from A/S to B/S...it is more fun, but i’m still sorting it out. Seems like if a slide starts, it is much more difficult to save, so on high traction i’m slightly faster, low traction i’m slower. So far. Any setting tips?
How long have you had it? It generally just takes time to get used to it. I was useless the first time I tried a game like dirt rally on a wheel. The best advice I have it set your rotation to around 540 for most racecars
Great review Will. I went from, my Logitech wheel to a Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel Base V1.1 which was a major improvement but I then decided to buy a Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5. I'm very happy with this wheel base and I do notice much more detail coming from the track surface. I did a couple of races in the rain and I found that my driving on a wet track was much improved immediately. The ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5 has more torque output and as much as I want to wrestle with. 😃 In my humble opinion this wheel base is a great compromise between price and performance and it is in my budget range. I would be interested in your opinion of add-on displays. I have been looking at the Renovatio displays.

@@redtheftauto I'm sure that you can do just as well with the Elite. Will says that it really isn't worth the difference but it is as close to direct drive wheel as I will get. 😊 Besides, I can use all the help I can get. 😉

The wheel in my real car can only be described as vague at best. Those 1970's Nissan starring boxes aren't known for their direct feel. Maybe I'll get away with a cheap wheel and stick to a sim with classic cars.
One thing I think would be pretty sweet would be to cover the history of direct drive, how it evolved into OSW's and then the insiration of that moving on to brand made products :)
Pretty sweet to have been mentioned, at least in passing*
Haha. I stay away from that in my videos generally because there’s a lot of very strong opinions around intellectual property.
@@boostedmedia oh damn, had no idea. Thanks for clearing it up!
12k increase of subs in 2 months since this video was published 👏
If the wheel isn't that much important, can I have the fanatec wheel please...lol 😉
Hello
Hi
As always, great content. Inconvenient truth for some, but you need to have balls to to be frank about things.
damn, nice video!
But i cant stop laughing cause of 2 things.
1st: His left hand is defenitly glued to the table!
2nd: nearly every time his right hand rests on the table he stomps his foot!
sorry but I cant xD ... no offense given!
Didn’t know “built like a brick shit house” was also a saying in Australia
Lol! I actually haven’t heard anyone say it for about 30 years here.
Hey mate, love your content.. keep up the good work.
By the way, are you ok? You are looking a bit skinny and pale. Hope you are well!
I’m fine mate. Night white lights in the studio make me look pale and I’m at my healthy weight :)
Bright^
Boosted Media glad to hear that :)
I will wait until i have enough money to buy a fanatec or something in that direction
I am just building my Rig. What piece of software should I start with?
