  • Pink Floyd’s 1979 double album, The Wall, stands tall as a body of work. A true rock opera, it tells a tale of a war orphan who grew up to become a jaded rock star, growing increasingly isolated behind a mental wall…which closely mirrors Roger Waters’ life experiences. This epic undertaking may very well never have happened without producer Bob Ezrin, who was brought in to help the band flesh out the concept, and he’s responsible for pushing for the release of “Another Brick In The Wall Part II” as a single, one of the few songs released outside of album form by Pink Floyd. Find out more about Ezrin’s part in building The Wall in this episode of Behind The Song.

Ezrin here is the superstar. Without his touch, The Wall would have been a dreary, inaccessible Watersfest. His talent is gently redirecting mad geniuses to deliver product we can all latch onto and enjoy.

Ewww..... his money and "power" can't buy the perspective or idea of the concept. Nor will it ever give him a credit twords it. Even the creator says that......

Somebody in the production team new a choir director at a local school. Middle school I think. He sent the lyric and the reacher rehearsed with this kids.
One day the director sneakf the kids to the studio where they , all in one room, sang their part.
They then hurried back to school.
    Ezrin quadruple tracked the choir.
The choir director got in trouble because he hadn't asked permission .
That's what I remember from an interview one of the team gave.
Not sure if kids were credited.
Also they actually built the wall on stage for only 5 concerts in England.
Too much production to take on the road.
Gilmour played comfortably numb from the top of the wall.
    Then they tore it down.
I'm old. I read and hear things .
This was the end of Floyd.. the Wall was Rogers solo album with backing by Pink Floyd.

Came out my senior year of high school while I was going through hell. So I ended up immersed in it, relating to most of it, except school ironically but it was a place to go with some solace that someone else felt the same

What a strange story...those lads needed help! Funky green lighting. Hey, how about some Bachman Turner Overdrive?! Like the story of Randy's lost guitar!

Lol at Gilmour doing ‘homework’ in Disco clubs. I wouldn’t have liked it either.

Captain and tennille sang background vocals on the wall. That’s part of why it’s so great. Toni tennille is an uncredited co writer on comfortably numb per Bob erzin. She is a great songwriter and appeared at their Los Angeles show in 1980. Toni should have replaced Rick wright on keys during the 1980 tour. She could have kept the peace with Gilmore and waters and kept Floyd as a performing act through 1980s. It was her idea along with erzin to put the disco beat on brick. Neil bogart head of Casablanca records convinced waters it would be a huge hit Toni said Floyd sessions were efficient and totally professional. She said gilmours kids had all their albums and she said working with Floyd was delightful. Gilmours children loved muskrat love
