What can I say, Michael. This was another great video. The first image you shared with the inverted colors is FANTASTIC!! But then again, if I commented on all of the images I liked I’d be typing for an hour. You always seem to have a different perspective from other landscape photographers, this I greatly appreciate. Thank you for sharing your work.
Michael, off-subject, but those beautiful mountains over your right shoulder at 8:21. Everywhere you look is picture-worthy! Your pattern/mud shots are terrific!
Congratulations on finding scenes that most of us would just walk by that help tell the story of Death Valley. Your video inspires me to pay more attention to the small details when I am in the grand landscape. Thanks for sharing this message.
My new favourite Shainblum vid! Incredible images and timelapses, but above all thank you for sharing the sincere and inspirational message at the end 🤯🙏🙏
Terrific video! The last time I was in DV, other than driving through, was 49 years ago. I’ve learned a lot about photography since and I’ve got to get back and try my hand again.
Thank you again for a fine video. Your style, tone, personality, teaching skill, and production make you one of my favorite photographers on RUclips. Would you please consider including the focal length when you post your image settings? It would really help with lens selection for remote shoots. I often need to choose between bringing a heavier, higher resolution full frame camera with a 70-200 f/2.8 lens vs. a lighter M4/3 camera with a 100-400 lens, and it would be informative to see how often you use the longer focal lengths beyond 200 mm.
Absolutely gold. I love how you shoot and edit. It’s just world class. Keep on creating these! Your uploads make my days better. This channel definitely needs more subs but I’ve been saying that for years.
Absolutely stunning images and very inspiring.Shooting mud cracks. The rainy season has started here in India,May be i will try to shoot mud cracks when it stops raining.Tons of thanks and May God bless You.
OMG….love it too much! Thank for so much creativity and magic always….I am inspired after watching any/every video….over and over…but really just enjoyed the struggles….and the alternative is never any fun. I appreciate all the work and passion.
Loved the mud cakes images and subtle tones and colors. Thanks for the tips re: photographing the B&W dunes images. I spend time focus stacking wavy lines on beaches . The results OK and nothing exception. I think using f16 may help.
Hey Michael, thank you for sharing your wonderful work and thoughts! I sometimes think, nature is so wonderful and perfect if I can’t „find“ the right shot it is not the gear or the location it is me, my thoughts my mindset which blocks me to find and see the perfect composition Have a great time Greetings from Germany Thomas
Really great stuff! Love your images! Quick question: have you considered using a tilt lens or Cambo (like food or architecture photographers do)? This would let you shoot at lower iso and f/8-11 instead of f/16?
Damn, that was something. Death Valley will not reappear on my shooting schedule for months, and for obvious reasons - but head back I will, and with some fresh inspiration on persistence and looking at things differently.
Mud tiles isn't something I'd normally photograph, but these are very beautiful, Michael! You have inspired me to try shooting more abstract scenes! Plenty of that where I live. Inverting the colors and tones is something I would've never thought, but that image at 3:38 is 😮

Love that you’re with TJ Thorne. He is another wonderful photographer in the PNW,
He is awesome!
The inverted image @ 3:50 reminds me of the veins on the bottom of those giant Amazonian water lily leaves. I love the time lapses at the end.
Great photographs and a very well done video! Would you please tell me more about your photo at 11:14? It's very beautiful.
Hey thanks, that one was a 400mm shot of some distant badlands, I also cropped into the shot making it closer to 700mm or so.
Michael, your images are always outstanding, but man, your timelapse videos are phenomenal.
thank you so much Peter, I hope to release a new timelapse film soon!
The video was beautiful. However, the words you shared at the end were the most inspiring. Thanks for sharing. 🌺
Thanks so much Tara, glad the words resonated with you!

I need to back and try the negative image idea on the cracks I shot in Death Valley a few years ago. I love the result you got.

Casually throwing that monster of a time lapse at 12:45😅
haha thanks! I thought it would be fun to just do a timelapse montage instead of usual Broll
This kind of work is my cup of tea Michael

Come to Namibia to find plenty of those mud plates.. I've taken some awesome images with them in the for ground and sand dunes in the distance

Death Valley was tuff this year. The heavy rain scrubbed it pretty good.
Yeah it was tricky for sure
Excellent work! I really love that location and cant wait to get back there someday
beautiful
thank you!

Hey thanks so much! I am sure you can find some super cool textures and patterns to photograph out in Florida as well, especially on the beaches!
@MichaelShainblum may very well be OR beaches soon enough not FL anymore! 🎉
Inspiring! 👍🙂
Gorgeous shots! Not being satisfied with mundane nor looking for a preconceived "shot" seems to be your calling card.
Very nice!
Ahh man those edits were class ! You should do a tutorial on how you inverted cause that was awesome
Thanks man, thats a good call!
Thanks!
Thanks so much Len!
Great video
Thank you!
Amazing🎉🎉🎉
thanks!
Magical as always. Were the motionlapses shot on a Pocket 3 ? I'm wondering because the dynamic range was quite wide in some clips...
Those were all shot on my DSLRs and Mirrorless camera, thanks so much!
So how do you reverse the color tones? Is that in Photoshop or Lightroom?
You can do it with either using curves or white balance
Greetings from germany ❤
Your thoughts on aps c cameras? EG Nikon z50?
I like APSC cameras, I cant speak on the z50, but seems like a great cam.
Maaaan.. I wish I could find a friend to go photo-hiking with. Wanna come to Southern Oregon? ☺️
So funny enough I was just up there a day ago for the last 2.5 weeks. I was on the coast teaching workshops, but purhaps next time!
@@MichaelShainblum No kidding! Hoping you made a video of that, as well!! Love your content and your style!
❤❤❤😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
Great! Some images, some timelapse!!! No many bla bla bla 😂😂😂. Thanks…
Ispiring video
thank you!
I honestly thought the title read, "How to Capture Squirrel Wide Angle Abstract Landscape Photography"
I'm kinda bummed.
Haha, next time, I will definitely incorporate Squirrels!
First?
Yep
That was actually a bit impressive.
I love your videos, keep it up
thanks so much, will do!
