Thanks, Captain, for these views of another world. The fog, the ships, their maneuvers -- for one marooned in the American Midwest, it's like watching a spaceport on another planet. Wish I could smell it!
Ahoy Captain, that is quite an amazing sight to see a vessel so high out of the water. The shots of the propeller are great it really show why tugs are needed to assist theses huge vessels manoeuvre around. :) :) :)
Thanks shipmate. It's not often an empty container ship comes into port, I have missed it the last time I happen to see one. Luckiliy I managed to pop out and film it when I spotted it was empty on Cruise Cam.
That's a good question shipmate. There is a massive amount of ballast in the bottom of the ship, so I don't expect will make much of a difference. A badly loaded ship can be a lot more dangerous than empty ship.
Absolutely loved that sir. And we have spoken before about the sale of the photos I just think it would make the channel to be able to buy the image and blow it up and frame it .makes many Christmas birthday present and me for one would be buy many 👍👍👍👍
Thanks shipmate. I'm just working on merchandise and a website at the moment, with the intention to sell various items and of course photos, that you can then frame. It's a lot to do in my spare time, so it does take a while, but we are getting there.
Ahoy Cap’n I read today that the Al Hilal is going to be renamed and reflagged, which could be why it arrived in Southampton empty. It will be renamed ’Missouri Express’ and sail under the American flag 🇺🇸
Wow this is amazing capture. Great to see a container ship without container. So fascinating to see her naked structure.
Yes it is shipmate, it's not often that you get to see what's under the boxes.
Thanks for that. Some great droning and still shots. Interesting to see a box boat with no boxes.
I was lucky to be able to film this one shipmate. Weather was on my side, just.
Hi Captain. It's extremely rare to see an empty container ship. Glad you were able to drone it.
Rare indeed. It's only the second time I have seen one in port and the first time I have droned one shipmate
Great drone footage do not see that very often coming into Southampton empty thanks for uploading captain cheers
It's a rare sight indeed shipmate.

That's great to hear shipmate. Of course the Midwest does have it's own beauty as well.

Hi Captain, that’s amazing footage , and lovely still shots , excellent colours, can’t wait to see more of your drone work.
There will be much more to come shipmate.
Thank you, what a brilliant video, have never seen anything like that before.
Only seen an empty ship once before coming into port, but I wasn't be able drone it that time shipmate
WOW, that was amazing. Thank you Captain
Glad you liked it shipmate.
Fabulous video. Almost unique situation.
Absolutely shipmate. Not often we see empty ships in port
This looks really cool! Could be mistaken for a tanker at a distance. I bet she handles a lot faster without all those containers!
Indeed shipmate, when she was coming up Southampton Water, she did look like a tanker.
Ahoy Captain, Nice to see a container ship. Ive mised quite a few of these as we watched cruise ships.
It's part of the rich tapestry of the Port of Southampton shipmate.
amazing drone footage.
Thanks shipmate
I always thought the containers went into the hold of the ship to?
,@Trevor they do
They do shipmate, but I'm pretty sure this one was empty. It was so high out of the water.
@@SolentShips so obviously those are covers to stop water getting in. I wonder where they are stowed when loading?
@@trevhopkins9108 You can see the covers on Box Cam being lifted up and placed on the dock side shipmate.
Ahoy Captain, as always superb footage. Are the ships more unstable (say in a storm) when they are empty?
That's a good question shipmate. There is a massive amount of ballast in the bottom of the ship, so I don't expect will make much of a difference. A badly loaded ship can be a lot more dangerous than empty ship.
@@SolentShips Your remark struck a chord, Captain. My papa, a merchant seaman, had some scary stories about cargo shifting in rough seas.
Thanks Captain that was really interesting 😀
Thanks shipmate, a little different than the noramal container ships.
@Cap'n beautiful shot of the prop u nva see it above the water ... I believe there's Containers below deck ... Gud filming skipper as always
First time droning prop churn shipmate. Don't spoil the illusion of conainters below desk...
@@SolentShips lol 😅
Nice video shipspotting
Thanks shipmate
Wow amazing Photo want u take and it dose look different with out the containers
I have been waiting for a long time to film an empty container ship. They often come in when I am busy and don't get a chance to film them shipmate.
@Cap'n theres a vid on how Containers are loaded
Thanks shipmate, there are some really interesting videos on RUclips.
@@SolentShips its more complicated than u fink
Superb video
Thanks shpmate
A bit late to this one Captain. Glad I watched it though as it was fascinating.
It was a bit different shipmate. Been waiting ages for the chance to drone an empty container ship.
Absolutely loved that sir. And we have spoken before about the sale of the photos I just think it would make the channel to be able to buy the image and blow it up and frame it .makes many Christmas birthday present and me for one would be buy many 👍👍👍👍

Nice to see ship from my company
That's excellent shipmate.
May have come in to collect empty containers
I think there are a lot of empty containers leaving the port of Southampton shipmate
It seems that MERCURIUS has had a respray.
You could well be right shipmate. I was too busy looking at the container ship to notice
Ahoy Cap’n
I read today that the Al Hilal is going to be renamed and reflagged, which could be why it arrived in Southampton empty. It will be renamed ’Missouri Express’ and sail under the American flag 🇺🇸
Thanks shipmate, that's some good info. I'll have to look out for the Missouri Express next time.
REALLY INTERESTING TO LISEN TOO
Thanks shipmate, glad you found it interesting.
Amazing how high in the water she's riding. whilst she's empty.
I know, looks like she might fall over shipmate
