Crazy observation about trying to make the bigger gas tank a con. It's not in the least! I own this bike. Sure, you can stop with group rides that need to gas up, but are you on group rides 90% of the time? I'm not. I hate getting gas. Love this bike. Sometimes I go a month without getting gas on multiple rides. You picked only 2 scenarios where you want to stop and rest (go ahead) and group rides. Kind of ridiculous. Also don't need to always fill the tank. No cons at all only pros. And the "diving" into the corners? Have no idea what that means lol however I do enjoy your videos
I got the GSA… and I must admit, when I saw how much bigger the tank was, I was intimidated. I also didn’t want to have to stop for gas. After riding it… I’m glad I got it. This size is more touring adventure. If I’m going off road I want something much smaller than a 1250.
I completely agree! I only go on gravel roads or dirt roads. Anything more is a no go for my GS. If I take a GS offroad it will be a rented GS... NOT mine! lol. Plus offroad I would prefer something like a CRF.
I tested them both. Based on the looks and the tank volume I wanted the GSA but I didnt like the seat and the seating position. So I bought the GS. Felt like a good choice now when Im about to take it out on fishing trips, driving in smaller forrest trails. I dont have a problem finding gas stations near..but fully loaded bike on smaller trails, Id take the lighter bike any day
Before i bought mu gsa rallye i test rode a gsa rallye and a gs rallye i felt the gsa was more beefy under me which i like its looks are madmax its just the goat
I had two GS. The latest one was 2021 Ralley. I now have a 2023 GSA and I absolutely love it. Feels milieu better then the GS, due to the tall suspensions. I am so glad I traded in the GS for this one.
@@AmericanAbroad1 No. Actually I am quite short 1.72m. For some reason I have never found the GSA too tall for me. I also ride KTM 690 Enduro, which is a bit tall when doing technical off road, but still not too bad. I guess it’s all down to the riding technique.
@@racingtag1237 Awesome! Yeah I rode the HP when it first came out and loved it. I am on the regular GS right now and still loving the ride. I think the off-road suspensions really just firm things up a bit and it feels great. Probly why people love them.
GSA is a better value with more wind protection while GS is a better handling bike as I owned both models in 2 Engine variations over the years (1200 GS and GSA - 1250 GS and GSA). If you are not doing off roading and you want better Road manners, more Luxury and more Std Equipment for the same Money, the 1250 RT is so much better than both.
If you're not doing off-roading, want the best power/weight ratio of any faired 1250 as well as the only one with a traditional front suspension, take a look at the RS. Note the 1250R's wide handlebars can be swapped for the RS's more angled clip-on style if that floats your boat.
GS, is a better option than the GSA, it’s lighter more agile and a better road bike. I’ve owned both and enjoyed them for different reasons, but overall the GS is the better road bike, for me. And it looks better.
Totally! I love the wind protection on the GSA, but I found the same as you. I really enjoy the extra agility of the GS. Some people may not agree but I have done big trips on the GSA and I own the GS, of course, and it’s my preference
I was sure i would choose the GSA, but then after a testride of both, i decided to buy the GS, i come from sport bikes and i like the agility of the GS, you are able to drive faster if you like on twisted roads
i ride a 1250gsa, and i can keep up with most sports bikes ! even on the twisties ! ( i ride a zzr1400 too). i find no difference between the gs and gsa. yes the gsa can carry more fuel, but just don't fill it right up if you're going play ! i ride mine like a sportsbike on the road though.
Are their any after market wind protection pieces available to mount on the tank plastic sides or crash bars or... to provide similar wind protection for the GS? Wind protection is the only major thing holding me back from a GS. I realize larger screens are available. And little wings mounted near the bottom of the wind screen like the GSA has.
I am not aware of any additions to the sides to make GSA style protection. I would go ride both and see which you prefer. I always preferred the look at the GSA, but I love the weight of the GS. For every day I prefer the GS.
@@AmericanAbroad1 Unfortunately the bmw dealership does not have any used or new gs, gsa or even rt. They are taking preorders and maybe in one to two months but they are all sold and can not ride or sit on one. Next dealership is over two hours away. Thanks though!
@@AmericanAbroad1 I live in Nor Cal, east of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills. Lots of back roads, twisties, mountain passes, back roads to Napa and the coast... Cold and hot weather. Winter riding is why wind protection is appreciated. 1up 70%. Have not looked into renting. A bit expensive. Im looking at used 2019-2020 gs/gsa.
@@ridemfast7625 yeah. It if your spending so much on a bike may be worth it. Twistedroad.com you can rent individuals bikes cheaper. Try that. If you do mainly road riding the RT may work for you also. If your stuck I would just get the GSA. It still feels light when you get moving.

I bought mine for all its attributes except off road. I dont like the idea of sliding around so my vikki is a cafe queen
nahhh i taken mine offroad and its a candy.....all you need is offroad tires and you are good to go

If you took all the Add-ons like the crash bars off, wouldn’t it be the same besides the gas tank?

I’m fine w my 22 GS. I prefer the B roads anyway and need to stop every 3 hours or so and stretch. Ripping 80mph on US highways is BORING.
