doom 2016 is only 20 dollars right now, but i mean there really isn't THAT much in the story to catch up on if you wanted to skip to eternal. Eternal is a great sequel, but Doom 2016 is much better: far less platforming, ammo and armour on map incentivises exploration, less plot (yes, this is a strength for Doom), better locations/maps/settings.
🤣Eternal is objectively a way better game. Doom 2016 is overrated to hell and gets stale by the last 4 hours. Eternal has way better combat, increased movement options, way better arenas, more level variety in locations, better levels(Nekravol shits on all the hell levels in 2016), better enemy ai, more enemy variety, and more content. Doom 2016 also has zero incentives for exploration other than secrets/weapons. Resource management in 2016 was a joke.

Amusing to see most of this comment section getting filtered by this game because "the game FORCES me to play in a way I dont like" or "I should be able to just brrrrrrrrrr and kill thousands of enemies with heaps of ammo." Go play Doom 1 and 2 if you want that, it hasn't gone anywhere. Then go play the literal millions of wads to add onto them too.

I hate to say it....but Razor, buddy, ya'll are kinda bad at this. I figured you more for the cerebral 4x strategy type of games from the beginning though so no judging, but man this was painful to watch at times. The lack of dashing and jumping especially was quite noticeable.
@@TheRageaholic That's fair, and in most other shooters is undeniably true, but Eternal was definitely built from the ground up for you to constantly be dashing and jumping around like a coked up kangaroo. It's why a lot of the arenas have monkey bars that go nowhere. Shotgun grenades are a good way to keep firing while flying through the air and then switch to something heavier when on solid ground.

I will give you this the marauder is unbalanced as all hell and the easiest solution to that would have been to remove the ammo gimping from the game and remove the constant ad spawns in his fights but that's the only hard downside I found to the gameplay it's still the same turn off your brain and kill shit simulator as 2016 was only now you didn't accidentally play through the entire thing without realising

Snyperwolf91 I thought the beginning was fine but then again I’ve been following the games development for a while so I sorta had an idea on how to play the game before I jumped in.

That’s one thing I will note about Eternal. It has severely fucked depth perception. Like, it’s almost impossible to tell how far something is from you.
Hmm, I haven't experienced that at all. Sounds like you may need to change your FOV (values that are too high can result in everything looking smaller/further away than it actually is).
whoa razorfists hank hill impersonation is spot on! lol
A lot of chats mentioned ammo limits to promote "weapon diversity", but wouldn't you rather play the game however you want? Especially from a series that's sold on the concept of fast-paced fun?
Yes but that would just be you using The Conbat Shotgun and Minigun all day and that gets stale. Using all weapons breaks the staleness of combat.
@@crispwhitesheets2175 speak for yourself, I use whatever weapons I want. If other people let themselves play only one way and make themselves bored, that's their problem
Weapon management is a skill,it's one of the gameplay aspect of the original and doom eternal.each weapon has distinct advantages in combat, taking those advantages away due to overuse is reasonable.i don't entirely agree with the method the reboot or eternal used.
@@HighBrowComedy The Super shotgun in 2016 was OP and broken. The Super shotgun now is versitile and useful without being a one shot kill everything. Weapon balance while also maintaining a use if needed.

Actually on my runs of DOOM Eternal, I save that one to get the Precision Bolt mod for the Heavy Cannon.
FYI Brutal doom version 21 has a mech suit.
Guncaster has one as well, with mini-BFG cannons and added shockwave projectiles to charged fist attacks. Guncaster has a whole bunch of fun stuff: unique weapons, spells, special-use items, buffs, and a complete economy system. It's from the guy who made Russian Overkill, so it is a tad OP, but nothing a small amount of tweaking can't fix.
The oldschool shotgun sound is nice, but shouldnt it sound "meatier" due to the mass of the weapon being much higher than "a Wild West shotgun"?
i honestly don't know why razor with with the classic gun sounds. the shotgun and heavy cannon sound MUCH meatier with the new sounds.

Boo-fucking-hoo, get good, scrub. It's nice to know that despite being an amateur at this game, there's still people out there who are worse at it than I am. The golden gates of hell!!!!!
They give you both mods at the start so you can sticky bomb the turret and follow up with full auto to the face.
progste yeah, I don’t think I would have preferred it if it was one mod only. Though some mods still are underwhelming like microwave beam is cool but heat wave has more utility and the beam just doesn’t do enough damage to justify its existence.
@@kevinmayfield6182 The idea behind the microwave beam is to use it on stronger enemies who are almost dead, then you zap them, so they explode and damage everyone nearby. I play on nightmare, and once you get the hang of it, it's devastating. The heat blast doesn't really require getting used to, so I'd say it's the better mod all around. But I'm definitely glad the micro beam is in this game. It also fucks up doom hunters and those fat spider leg pricks real quick.
@Beau James No problem. Also forgot to mention: the bigger the enemy, the bigger the explosion. Anyways, have a good one man.

I actually loved Mick Gordon's score for Doom. It's not classic metal but a fresh take on the genre. Props for having the balls to try something different. It's a shame they fired him after the Doom eternal debacle
did he get fired? I was under the impression he told them not to ask him to do another doom score because whoever they got at id to master the tracks did an awful job.

I've got some catching up to do as I'm making my way through the original DOOM games but this game is seriously tempting me to just skip it all.
doom 2016 is only 20 dollars right now, but i mean there really isn't THAT much in the story to catch up on if you wanted to skip to eternal. Razor is also painfully slow at deciphering the pace of this game. if you really like engaging game mechanics and don't mind having to use all of your arsenal or remember to use your side abilities when they come off cooldown then it's pretty fun. some people complain that they don't like the ammo count but if you get all the sentinel crystals and get REALLY used to using a chainsaw on a zombie every 20 seconds then you should be fine. most of the complainers are probably the same people that only used the super shotty in the first game.
I KNEW he had it in him, haha!
My reaction to the thumb nail YESSSSSSSSS🤘🤘🤘🤘
Eternal is a great sequel, but Doom 2016 is much better: far less platforming, ammo and armour on map incentivises exploration, less plot (yes, this is a strength for Doom), better locations/maps/settings.
@EpiDemic117 ammo management in 2016 is a fucking joke, eternal has a mildly better system, the original way was the best IMO
@@hailbane9633 Ok.
@@hailbane9633 >Doom 2016 is overrated to hell and gets stale by the last 4 hours.
You know, unlike Eternal, which is always "Plasma rifle to shield guys, bombs for floating demons, chaingun for big guys".
Yeah, that shit IS TOTALLY NOT STALE.
Kick ass!
Man, Razor is terrible at this game
@Fort-niteS7 i got that impression from the first gameplay trailer. That still isn't an excuse for being this bad
@Fort-niteS7 It's an excellent shooter, just not one that's easy to pick up and master (certainly not as easy as 2016 was, at least).
Sorry Razör. I like you and your content but this let's play was horrendous.
is he playing on a controller? his aim seems off
his aim is precisely what i'd see on a mouse, but he's just kinda bad honestly. hes playing on the easiest difficulty and i barely see him jumping or dashing, when the game is balanced around jumping and dashing. also the super shotty and shotgun are most effective at point blank range, but he's using it at short range cause he's not willing to utilize the dash in combat. plently of other youtubers and streamers who are actually experienced at shooters have much more entertaining gameplay than Razor unfortunately.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate to say it....but Razor, buddy, ya'll are kinda bad at this. I figured you more for the cerebral 4x strategy type of games from the beginning though so no judging, but man this was painful to watch at times. The lack of dashing and jumping especially was quite noticeable.
I don't like dashing and I don't like jumping. It's disorienting and fucks up your aim.
@@TheRageaholic it doesn't fuck up your aim that is a bad excuse, watch some gameplay from decino here on youtube ...

Correct me if i am wrong Razor but I think you previously stated that you do not believe this pandemic t will cause a recession. However, up to 10 million filing for unemployment in 3 weeks as of today. I don't think there is any way we will not under go recession with key factors such as Americans no longer buying goods from china, government most likely not willing to end income and payroll taxes to allow business to expand and hire, and the shear drop in production which will lag the economy. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe we need to bring back manufacturing to the states but its initial products will not be as cheap and the effects will be felt by the middle and lower classes. It would be great if you could do a video to follow up on these things. Also, I will grant you that this is by far the biggest over reaction we have ever had but I think the laws and loss of liberty during this overreaction will have consequences in terms of economics and civil liberties. Thanks.

Here are my cons about doom eternal
The punch is too weak unless you have blood punch or execution up it does no dmg whatsoever
Fuck the marauder with a red-hot barbed wire flag pole
And did they retcon most of the lore from the last game?
Other then that this game is amazing and sixty bucks is way too fucking cheap
@Fort-niteS7 unfinished and unbalanced? Are we playing the same game?
I will give you this the marauder is unbalanced as all hell and the easiest solution to that would have been to remove the ammo gimping from the game and remove the constant ad spawns in his fights but that's the only hard downside I found to the gameplay it's still the same turn off your brain and kill shit simulator as 2016 was only now you didn't accidentally play through the entire thing without realising
Björn Thor Gudmundsson how did they retcon the last game?
@@pyrotechnics3269 if memory serves from the last game the doomguy was from another world that had also been invaded by the demons and somebody who wasn't named (maybe the doomguy?) Was tricked selling out that world's secrets giving the demons the victory that was where the final part of the first game happened,
I haven't quite finished the game yet, I had to leave for work but the sense I got so far was that doomguy was a part of the demons world right from the start and had been a part of their army or honor guard before something happened and he turned on them which contradicted what I remembered from the first game so I wasn't sure if I remembered or understood it wrong or if they retconned the first game

ID truly did not know what they had in their hands with Doom 2016.
Ok one Chainsaw use it it automatocally refills , two invest in runes for bigger ammo capacity , tutorials can be shut off. Also Glory Kills and Chainsaws add flow the game is about flow thats the point to get you moving in a long flowing movement of combat.

The gunplay is so good I just find the constant control-pauses for 2-3 canned animations and overt Rock Paper Scissors weapon choices take me out of the groove.
If you didn’t zoom in like a mass effect conversation on every glory kill is feel a lot better about it. The mooks should take up one arm for a second or two while you continue to fire one handed at the still moving swarms.
Likewise that cork-pop-eyes from the eye-balloon enemies that eat grenades like a smack head desperate for fix got old after two times, the game is mixing gore with cartoon/borderlands sound effects loot explosions every 5-10 seconds.
