The washbasin above commode is for recycling. The washbasin used water goes in to the tank below and it is used to flush the commode. This way water is reused after washing hands
The basin and flush are together in order to save water... (To minimize the wastage of water.) So that you wash your hands and use that water to flush. Every time we use a latrine we waste a minimum of 10-20 litres of water. Japan changed that policy a long time back. You can read more about it on google.
Kombu or Konbu is actually sea weed or algae which is basically good for health. You can see that they usually put kombu in every kind of noodle dishes.
I just love how organised and disciplined Japanese people are. So well-mannered and have a deep sense of responsibility as well as loyalty towards their country. Spick and span roads, buses, stations..literally whole of Japan. There’re are vending machines installed in the open for water & beverages which is not possible in a country like India where miscreants would damage it the very next day of installation.
I am transiting through japan to India from New Zealand, i will be there for only 1 day ...but lucky its saturday night so i will go out to see night life and meet my japanese friend ..!😄😄😄
