The LED backlight kind of sucks if you are left handed and wear your watch on your right wrist (ask me how I know?... oh right I am left handed) anyway the single LED tend to shine directly into your eyes if you try to operate the backlight and the bright spot makes reading the watch more difficult... I would much rather have gotten another E than UE model.. but what can you do? I got mine on a clearance special on woot for $25 listed as the DW-5600E but received the UE instead... maybe Casio was trying to clear out the UE models with D boxes and stand cards?
The 3229 on the test screen is the firmware/software number. The module number on the back is the updated module number. The DW-5600E and the DW-5600UE have the same functions except the backlight. The E has an EL backlight and the UE an LED backlight. The LED backlight extends the battery life from 2 years for the EL version, to 5 years for the LED version, apparently. There are squares with multidate format on them. Where you can change the date format to DD/M instead of the American M/DD. They tend to be the Bluetooth versions, but not all. The chepest is probably the G-5600UE-1, with module 3525. There is a website called Shockbase that has a moutain of information about G Shocks.
