    A quality bowler but Injuries hampered his career. Definitely he was in club of 300 Odis wickets if fit. Aussies were his bunnies.

      Exactly. That is what made him so great, in ODI's. His domination of such a great Australian team. Not many fast bowlers have dominated the top team so much.

    Next to Mcgrath and Donald, easily the most lethal and beautiful fast bowler of last 30 years. Tragic that injuries cut short his career. What a champion fast bowler!

      yes he was and i really get stunned when people underrate him so much and not keep him with bowlers like LEE, NTINI & STEYN... i think he would have been better than all these but yeah injury costed him.. speed, bounce and inswing to right handers... he was a nightmare for batters especially Golden generation of AUSSIES

    This should be proof, if ever one was required, that Shane Bond was a special talent in that era and in that NZ squad. He wasn't just a home track bully. He could do it on the lifeless pitches in India too. Kapil Dev was similarly special for India because he chose pace when India was known for its Spinners. He led the change.

    He would have taken 600 test wickets if injuries hadnt ruined his caeer..... Same case applies on steyn he had taken 418 wickets in 82 tests then got injured nd rest everyone knows. At that time anderson had taken around 420 wickets in tests nd today he got 565 wickets bcz he is still fit. Nd steyn nd bond's career has been finished due to these bloody injuries..... Bt these are just numbers everyone know bond nd steyn are also one of the legends......

      Simple reason being Anderson never really focused on pace. He concentrated on swing and movement. His body was spared of the rigours of express pace. Whereas Lee, Bond, Steyn all of them tried to generate great pace resulting in slow breakdown of their muscles.

    What could have been, he was the complete package. I remember in one of his last internationals against Sri Lanka I think, he was hurting, but really put in .. one over he bowled a 154km and a 152km .. the batsmen didn't even see where it went.

    Shane Bond was an outstanding fast bowler. Could swing it both ways at high pace and was an intelligent bowler. It was such a shame he was so injury prone because he could've easily gotten 300-400 wickets in both formats of the game had he been consistently healthy. He was NZ's ace in the hole who get the best batsmen out and had an excellent strike rate.

    Those first three deliveries of that over were out of this world - amazing to watch. I loved his bowling action too. As few of you have already pointed out, could have gone on to become one of the greats and made it the 'trio'with Akhtar and Lee but it wasn't to be due to an injury plagued career. Shame because he was the real deal.

    I love the legendary Wasim Akram's clinical objective appraisal to explain what a brilliant bowler Shane Bond was so early in his career. For a country with a dearth of high-quality express bowlers at that time, Bond's late entry to professional cricket and frequent injuries, deprived NZ of a true world class champion bowler. I loved how the gun Australian batsmen were his bunnies during his short career.

    They must have Sent Kaif in one Drop Bond was swinging the ball like anything unplayable it was and really bad idea of Sending Venugopal Rao !!!!     Look at Gangulys dismissal carefully.. It wasn't unlucky as the umpire suggested.. Actually it seamed in after pitching and hence Ganguly wasn't able to glance it away for boundary... It was a plan executed perfectly by Bond and keeper
