  • UPDATE 1:
The general consensus is that this is an elaborate hoax, but still can't be totally discounted as Tesla using the body of a CX-30 to hide what's underneath.
    www.drive.com....
In the article above, it mentions that all of the Tesla parts in the pics, can be bought separately. The whole front end is a Tesla though, not just headlights. Why would anyone merge a Tesla and CX-30 and then change the rear lights (and nothing else on the CX-30 part) to a Tesla?
These photo's recently from China are supposed to be a disguised Tesla Model C (or whatever they will be calling the compact)... except it's not that compact... or pretty.
Is it a new Tesla model in the wild? You decide, because I can't :)
Whatever it is, I just hope that Tesla don't announce it (or the real thing) unless they are ready to go into production and sale... to avoid the Osborne Effect.

A poor photoshop. The tail lights aren't sitting properly and the shadowing is wrong.
Also, why would the rear wheel arch be clad in plastic, but the front not?

Definitely not Photoshop (my initial thoughts too), there are more pics of it on the road. See Ryan Shaw's video.
      Maybe I'm crazy, but...
      - Big announcement on March 1
      - Compact car been in dev for years
      - Could easily have been internally driven/tested indoors
      - upgrades at Shanghai recently (shut for 2 weeks)
      - Elon knows about his 'Elon Time' rep, so could be much more careful (under-promise and over-deliver)
      - Fake car mashups to conceal things have been done before (Continental masquerading as Merc):
      www.carmagazine.co.uk/features/car-culture/the-art-of-car-disguise-prototype-camouflage-decoded/
      - Tesla know about the Osborne Effect, so won't announce until they are ready to ship
All in all, I'm just feeling the distinct possibility that they have solved the giga casting of 2 pieces for a small car (top and bottom, which has the structural battery pack between), and will be announcing their compact (model Tau) and releasing it within a month or two.

@@stormjuice"Tesla know about the Osborne Effect" Nissan apparantly doesn't ! They showed off the new Leaf years before it became available by which time the market had moved ahead. Then they did it again with the Aryia !!
