    I must object...neither Bloodsport nor Commando are guilty pleasures. Both are the magnum opus of their respective directors, truly seminal achievements in film - and while perhaps too sophisticated for some viewers - I *proudly* count them among my (many) 80's action movie favorites. No guilt. All that matters to me now is my Jenny...

      I must say that I also quite enjoyed Class of 1984 and Showdown in little Tokyo by Mark L Lester. The director of Bloodsport, however, didn't really make anything else, so you are right on both accounts 😂

    Heyy Ebbs happy new year! Man I swear you & I have the same taste in movies. Personally I totally love "Kung Pao" - "chooosen one! Look my finger points" If you watch Kung Pao on DVD & choose through the different languages, English 2 & 3 are completely different dialogue & makes the movie even funnier. Also Bloodsport & Commando were one of my earliest favorite movies as a child. I would rewind the tapes & rewatch them immediately. In Poland back in the 80s it was rare & difficult to own VHS because it was expensive & illegal to own any Western materials. In fact those 2 were my 1st American films I've ever seen.

    • @TheEbbemonster
      @TheEbbemonster  5 лет назад

      Hey Jerzy, from this time forward you will refer to me as Betty :-P Ha ha, yeah Kung Pow is hilarious! I was not aware that there were two english dubs for the movie, I will need to check that out! For many years I remember waiting for a sequel to Kung Pow. The movie kinda reminds me of that in the movie "Top Secret!", which is also totally over the top.
      I was not aware that western movies were illegal in Poland, I just though they were not imported. I remember watching a cool documentary about the black video game markets of Poland back in the 80s, where copies of western movies and video games were mass produced. The NoClip documentary about GOG also mentions it, and if you haven't watched it, it can be recommended (ruclips.net/video/ffngZOB1U2A/видео.html).
      Crazy that we have such similar taste - maybe you should also start to recommend me movies :)
